The Gnarly Gar

Loved it. It's a floating deck on the Colorado River. So you can actually feel the little swings while eating on deck. The view from the restaurant is beautiful, amidst the nature. They have small hills around the river boundaries, and even the route around the restaurant is beautiful. I saw lotssssss of (deer) 🦌 and their fawns casually roaming in the neighborhood.

The food was good too. My favorite was the Shrimp in the small bites menu. Their chicken wings were good too.

Such a fun place! Great live music, good food. The Gnarly Gar is right on the lake and a great place to catch the sunset. My boyfriend raved about the burger and I loved the salmon tacos. We'll definitely be back!

This place has a beautiful view and our server Madison was absolutely wonderful. Whoever hired her 👏👏👏👏. You might need Madison to train some of ur other Waitstaff, because I did not have a good experience with the other staff. Thanks Madison for making my boyfriend and I first visit a wonderful experience. The rum runners was yummers❤❤.

Will go here again, a nice relaxing place, good menu, you place your order at the front desk and they bring it to you. Watch the lagre fish gathering around the deck, they know people feed them and are waiting. There is also a small gift shop in the back.😊

Really enjoyed this place. Live music was awesome and service was great. Great place to relax eat and enjoy the scenery.

A long standing tradition on this lake, formally Shades, under previous owner. Probably the most popular family friendly boater restaurant and bar on the lake. Save some leftovers to feed the catfish. Lots of guest slips for boaters, lots of parking for cars and golf carts. Don't miss this long term Lake Travis Tradition.

Love going here and enjoying the lake views plus they had a guy singing/playing his guitar who was really good.

Where else can you drive your boat. Order catfish with sweet potato fries, then feed your left overs to the monster catfish under the dock. Fish canabalism at it's finest. Great fish and fries. Very large helpings. Very fast service and the food was hot! They are doing a great job during the pandemic. Will be back soon.

Great lake place. Atmosphere is wonderful day the food is not bad and drinks are nice and cold. They have a nice docking area and fuel for boaters. Service was good but food came out slowly, also, on lake time, we were not in a hurry. Definitely give it a try.

Awesome live music! The food was in generous portions! The wings are presently plump! Their sweet potatoes fries are amazing! I would recommend checking this place out while they have a life band!! The only negative is that if you don’t smoke cigarettes, depending on the crowd, it’s a little hard to get away from the smell of cigarettes if you sit outside.

We've been here 5 times. Nice size portions. We love to drive our boat right up to the entrance of the restaurant. Our kids love to feed the fish our leftovers. Of special note, you do need to walk inside to order your food. We've noticed that we tend to get caught up in the view and miss the sign that says "Order Inside" so we've sat outside way too long until we realized we needed to order inside. Drinks are ordered at the bar or table service.

Great place on the water! We had build-your-own burgers. Well cooked and delicious bun. After we ordered inside, a server came to our table for drink orders. Great views of the lake. Big covered patio. Upstairs looked great, too.

Nicest place every!! All elements to enjoy. The food was delicious!! Fishes to see in the background water were you eat, by the ledge.. carp and catfishes come up to say hello. Birds too!! Prices not bad. We lived the fish tacos, shrimp wraps, Ahi fish. Etc. What a nice experience.

Awesome location for a restaurant, friendly staff and service was great. Live band was really good. This place is on the water so it moves with the water. Ended up taking our food to go cause we couldn’t handle the motion while eating. Definitely recommend if you can handle it.

It's really good! I got the Moo, Oink, Cluck burger with guacamole, and it was deeeelicious. Nice and juicy, and a fluffy bun, just a great pair of flavors for this burger. The pictures on their site don't do them justice. There's a bit of a walk on a pier to get to the restaurant, but it's worth it. Really pretty views on all sides.

Too bad its closing forever soon it was good food literally floating on the lake the kids really enjoyed feeding the fish

We love this place! When we take our boat out we always stop for lunch or dinner here.
