tldr: Hands down best tacos in the Midwest. I’ve been coming here for Taco Tuesday for over a decade and it never disappoints. Friendly staff, good selection, authentic street-style tacos.

Bonus: don’t forget to ask for the spicy ghost pepper and carolina reaper hot sauce - it’s out of this world

We've been here over 20 times and the food and service are consistently excellent. They have a variety of homemade hot sauce's including a reaper sauce.

One of the better cheap taco places in the area. Taco Tuesdays are a great value. Margaritas were pretty good as well. This is not a fancy restaurant. Just pretty good Mexican food

Fantastic authentic mexican food! It's our go to place for both tacos and burritos. It's a no frills restaurant but you can expect quality and tasty food every time.

This was our first time at North of the Border 1, and I can't believe how we have never stopped to eat here. We had the steak tacos, and they were amazing. It's a drive from our house, but well worth it. Everyone was so friendly, and we will definitely go back.👍

So mildly obsessed with this place so I clearly could be biased. We loved their suizo steak burritos. I have also done the the steak tacos and those were very good too but the suizo burrito is just next level. Ginormous and reasonably priced. Nice to go somewhere that hasn’t skyrocketed their prices! Another favorite aspect was there different levels of sauces. All such good flavors but I truly appreciate the different options and heat levels!

Great prices, the help is always kind and the owner walks around ensuring all is well. Bring a printed photo of your visit and hang on wall. Try the fried ice cream. 😋

Yes, you're right. It's the perfect place for tacos. Spicy and smooth salsa, abundant and varied sauces that come with their own squirt bottles (3 per table), asada that is well marinated and seasoned, and all served quickly, happily, and yet surprisingly cheaply.

I'd go here every single day and twice on Sundays if I lived closer.

This is one of the best places I ever met when I spent some time living in Chicago, I'm Mexican and the taste of the food is pretty loyal to the original taste here in Mexico, the burritos are awesome and the owner make a really really spicy but delicious sauce, made it with "Ghost Chile", great place, nice environment, and wonderful people working there. Great specials every day of the week. The owner's homemade salsas, 5 varieties, are the spotlight to me. The food is pretty standard Mexican fare and unfortunately does vary somewhat in quality visit to visit. Tasted great some days and just average others. Overall, a good place to grab cheap tacos quickly and I would recommend bringing home some salsa -- the owner is very proud of it and it's definitely good!

Talk about a place that treats you like family from the time you walk in. The food is hot, fresh and taste amazing!!! And if you are a regular customer then you know about the variety of freshly made hot sauces. Which go perfect on Taco Tuesday!!! Highly recommended
