Sahara Restaurant & Grill-Oak Park

It’s Sahara. Chaldean//aramaic//middle eastern staple in the community. We love it here. Came with my dad for dinner, was great- as always. Forever chicken cream chop for the win!! Was so excited when we got our food- forgot to snap a pic!

Drove past this place yesterday and decided to give it a try. The menu is very diverse and had a hard time picking what I wanted. Normally I don’t like spicy food but the curry stew was delicious, and I added rice which enhanced the flavor. My boyfriend had the chicken lemon rice, and it tasted like a gourmet chicken noodle soup. He also had chicken with rice. I had grape leaves which was my favorite, it has a balanced tangy and salty taste to it.

Website ordering was convoluted and didn't explain things too well. That's fine, I walked in to get take out shwarma for myself, my wife, and our 5 year old. Entire order was ready in about 5 minutes, even though the man at the counter had said 10 to 15. Always a good surprise with a 5yo tagging along.

The half order was just the right size for the 3 of us. The shawarma was wonderful, the rice and pitas were fresh and flavorful, and the garlic sauce was clearly fresh made and magnificent! (My wife is picky about her garlic sauce, and she thinks so too.) Overall, definitely worth the walk in order, and worth the price too, which wasn't too bad at $22 for 3 people. (Food only, no drinks)

The inside looked really nice and I'm sure we will be back sometime for a sit down meal. Even though it did seem just a little loud, with high ceilings and no dividers in the single large dining room.

Hummus could have been a little lighter on the lemon, but everything else was amazing. Went here for a birthday with a fairly large crowd. Served lemon chicken rice soup, with fresh warm pita, hummus, and garlic sauce. Then main course came out, which was a platter consisting of rice, and various meats. Was really good, and even had enought to bring some home. Great place for parties, and large groups. Super spacious dining area.

The food was so delicious and the portion sizes for what you pay is very generous!
The staff was beyond friendly and really took care of us during our lunchtime visit.
The place itself is massive, so at lunch time everyone was spaced out so it looked empty. The decor is a bit outdated

Been going here for years. Good price for the super Sahara combo. Four of us got the combo for four. Huge plate of food. Fresh pita bread from oven. Open later than most places around here. Love the big booths.

First time visitor and driving by for years. Great food with good sized portions. Prices felt a little high compared to other similar options, but the quality was good. The place is huge and would be a good spot for a larger group.

The food was sooooooo good. The Sahara fries are everything awesome. Everything was worth getting again on are next visit. Plus Are server was super nice.

Should be given 3 Michelin stars. Service is outstanding. Feels like you walked into a middle eastern paradise. Get a shot of ranch if you go. You're welcome.

My sister & I were working on home project and needed a quick bite, sad to say we stopped at Lamaira on Greenfield and staff was rude, so we drove a mile out the way to Sahara on Coolidge. It was awesome as usual where they treat every guest great and the food is awesome!

I’ve been eating here 30+ years. The great tasting dishes have not changed a bit.

Great food. Great wait staff. Was a very enjoyable experience. Would recommend stopping in for lunch or dinner. Keep up the great service!

I love the staff members and food. My boys and I always come out here for a late night snack/dinner. This is the common hangout spot but it doesn’t mean it’s loud and obnoxious. Very chill atmosphere and I’ll for sure be back to order the Chicken Cream Chop half order.

Great place to eat. The waiters and waitresses are very nice and very efficient and great.

My wife and I had our wedding here and we are beyond happy with our experience.
The staff were very accommodating. They let us decorate our tables and set everything up the night before. They also let us bring in our speaker system and made room for a dance floor even though I know technically it isn't a banquet hall. The staff was super friendly and catered to our every need without hesitation.
We were able to party and celebrate freely which was awesome. The food came out and it was perfect. I would strongly recommend to anyone having a reception or just to eat. Thank you to the staff and management for a great and memorable experience!!

Sahara really made my day! After a long tiring few days I just wanted something good to eat. I ordered a deboned chicken and got way more than I expected. First the meal itself was delicious. But I didn't expect the bowl of soup and the Pickled cabbage salad that came with it.

Best middle eastern food in town. Great atmosphere.

Rafi was our Server. He was wonderful. Great service. Great food. We did not want to leave. Stayed about three hours. Thanks Rafi and Sahara Restaurant for a wonderful afternoon meal. We will be returning. Great bread from this oven.
