Market Block Books

This bookstore has a great atmosphere, and though their selection is not enormous, they have lots of unique books. They have really made great use of the space. I especially love the local Capital Region and Troy selections as well as their eclectic selection of cookbooks.

This is a great bookstore! Plenty of titles, new and classics. Prices are reasonable and it's really nice to still have a place like this worthy of supporting them.

What a warm and cozy bookstore and the gentleman who I'm assuming is the owner was so helpful and kind!! We traveled from NYC and was pleasantly surprised by this gem

Such a wonderful book store, in an ideal and easily accessible location! With a wide variety of selections, it's hard to walk out of here empty handed. Staff are super friendly and helpful with assistance and suggestions. I highly recommend Market Block Books to any and all book lovers!!

I took my daughter after hitting the record store, and she LOVED IT... She's a speed reader at 12, and she found a few series that she will be interested in returning for.
It's cute, eclectic, and occupies a great space.

Pretty good bookstore! Nice selection, diverse authors, good atmosphere. Cute reading space for kids and I thought the genre organization was done pretty well. I really liked the decor on the upper shelves of the pages and paper cranes, I’d recommend looking at that!

Great small business. Customer service is always phenomenal and I love the local author section as well.

It’s definitely worth the trip to visit Market Block Books. This bookstore is awesome and so are the people who work there. They’ll always find a book I have been wanting but can’t find. And Downtown Troy is great too with the beautiful architecture and cute little shops nearby. Love this place!

My parents have an apartment around the corner so I've been coming here for years. We LOVE this little place. From the personal book recommendations by staff to the well curated little tables and displays, it's always a pleasure to stop in. It's the kind of place that reminds you what a special treat it is to simply read a book.

Great bookstore! They carry so many books that are history of Troy and the capital district. Wonderful staff!

I'm just kinda curious why they have a WB Warner Bros sign on the building when they are not even the shops initials????? ( I've personally only been in the shop once and it seemed very nice but my mother loves it!!)

The Troy outpost of the Book House is warm and cozy. Great to browse new releases there, and they have a local poets display, and nifty literary gifts. Great light and there are comfy chairs if you would like to sit and read a bit. There is an inviting children's section, but with a smaller selection of books than at Stuyvesant Plaza.

Amazing indie bookstore with welcoming environment and very well-chosen books. My favorite display last time I went was the one on walkable neighborhoods and new urbanism. Also, the kids section has a wonderful cushioned bench that my kids settle into as if it belonged to them as soon as we arrive.

Have been going here for years. Stanley and the other booksellers always have excellent recommendations when I am looking for gifts. They are unfailingly cheerful and helpful, happy to special order things or help me find things, and they know their books!

The staff was so kind, with a good sense of humor! Charming atmosphere and great selection; loved the notes scattered all around giving staff recommendations. There's a rack with Dover Thrift Editions of some classics in the back corner for really cheap!

Cozy, independent bookshop located on the ground floor of the Market Block building. Entrances on both sides of the corner of River Street and 3rd Street. Great selection in store or easily order online and pick up.

My second visit, my first was three years ago when I was last in Troy, I experienced the same warm, friendly and knowledgeable service. The selection was superb. Everything was as it should be.
