Museums, great views of the lochs, well maintained trails, lush woods with deer and 3 eagles nests!
We did a 2 mile hike that ended overlooking the Erie Canal.
Trails are full of stone dust for easy, even, walking. Some trails are river rock that has sunk into the dirt.

Very nice State park that is nesstled between Waterford and Cohoes. There is a very nice hiking trail around the island. Very historic building were a lot of history has been made. Please remember that what you carry in you need to carry out. Help keep this park clean. If you are lucky enough, you may even see some Bald Eagles.

The walking path along the water has amazing views. Not the whole pathway follows the water though. It is free and there is a decent size parking lot before the walking trail starts. It’s never too busy. The actual pathway is not paved. It is a mix of dirt and stone with some tree routes sticks out. The walk itself is easy.

Excellent maintenance of trails with plenty of trail markers and wayfinding signs throughout the park should one have an issue. It is clear that this is a well loved destination for locals and travelers alike, many of which bring their dogs. It is a welcome reprieve from the hot summer sun to explore the shady trails. It was lush with greenery and the land is healthy as there were many Great Blue Herons, wood ducks, mallards, other sea/water loving fowl, and my personal favorite, a river otter! Picnic tables and benches are at a few different locations to enjoy a packed lunch or simply rest. I highly recommend exploring this island of wonders if you’re in the area.

Beautiful park! The parametre trail is just 2 miles and a fairly easy walk but with stunning views over cliffs! The best part about it though was the wildlife. Giant carp and snapping turtles in the water below, and deer eating blackberries in the forest. Would absolutely recommend for anyone wanting to experience nature without having to hike too far into the wilderness.

Peebles Island State Park is a wonderful place to visit even on a cloudy day! It was damp and the ground was wet so dress appropriately. There are multiple trails made up of dirt and some with gravel. The outer perimeter trail gives you beautiful views of the surrounding water ways, including water falls/rivers. There are a few picnic tables throughout the park to take a break if needed. Park guide signs are posted on trees. Conveniently located just off (87) or (787) and close enough to other attractions and great restaurants in the Cohoes/Troy/Albany area. It is also connected to the Empire State Trail.

Great area for a hike! Of note, also area for kayaking, fishing, and picnicking. Parking is super easy and free! Did the quick 2 mile loop hike. Well marked and trail is easy to follow. Easy hike, only took my phone and a bottle of water. Nice lookouts and vegetation. Even saw a deer! Check it out!

Today's walk was a bit shorter as I did not walk the perimeter. I did, however, catch a great view of a resident hawk and the falls were running strong because of the recent rain. Lots of pup's out with their peeps today. Always nice to see!

As always, a very nice way to spend an afternoon. We found some great surprises in the form of inspirational hand painted rocks strategically placed throughout! The water is running nicely this time of the year to make the falls especially pretty. Keep your eyes open for deer and other wildlife, we saw an amazing mature male bald eagle in flight during our visit...breath taking!

My group of 4 took the perimeter trail that is a bit I’ver 2 miles, the “red” trail. It was absolutely beautiful, massive trees and great slate rock cliffs. One water rapids was extremely beautiful!
We walked out into the river because it was dry and at a level where you could walk into the river without getting wet!
Saw many deer that were not afraid of us at all.
Highly recommend this trail if you like to hike.

This was a lovely loop trail recommended by a nice person in town. The trails are clearly marked with a nice variety of in the woods and along the edges of the island looking onto the water. Fishing access points, swimming points, waterfall views, differing trail options, and everything was well maintained with no garbage!

The perimeter trail is nice, but was somewhat busy on a weekend afternoon. The fire trail is an excellent option if you're looking for a less busy path.

Great easy and scenic hiking trail! It is easily accessible from Cohoes and Waterford. There's bathrooms by the parking lot. Doing the perimeter trail has nice water views and I almost always see eagles, deer, or snakes depending on the time of year. The trail is mostly flat, minus a couple of spots, so pretty easy to do even in regular sneakers. It takes me about 45 minutes to do the perimeter trail. Leashed dogs are allowed.

Beautiful place. Mon - Fri tranquility and peace. Sat and Sun rather busy. Great fishing too. No playground tho (and they can probably build that), but bathrooms are plenty. Park on site for free

Beautiful views, lots of history - read the plaques. There are trails throughout. Take a picture of the map. We haven't been here in a while and they have cleaned up the footpaths a lot. I saw my first pileated woodpecker here years ago and sometimes there's an eagle. Is the car still here somewhere? I guess we missed it.

Very nice little park. The point that over looks the falls is particulary relaxing and at least 10° cooler than the surrounding area. And due to the elevation it often has a nice breeze blowing through the area. The deer run trail is the shortest path to it.

Took my kids this time and did the perimeter trail walk. We had fun. Moderately busy, probably came across someone else on the trail every 5 minutes or so. Beautiful. The leaves covering the trail made it a little tricky to see some of the foot holds so my advice is take your time and wear good shoes. It's worth it though.

This place is pretty easy walking trails. There's plenty of beautiful views and water features. You can even walk down and get right to the water.

There's plenty of wildlife to view on the preserve. I got to see a baby deer once right up close!

A great place to enjoy the outdoors. Hiking trails were really nice. If you walk the permitter trail you will see the surrounding cities of Troy, Cohoes, and Waterford from the trail. The trail also has many nice ledges and viewpoints to see the Hudson and Mohawk rivers. Trail is mostly flat path and is well marked.
The island has a small population of deer which are fairly easy to spot.
There are good spots for fishing by the viewing deck, on the hiking trails, and near the bridges near the park. Places are also available to launch a kayak. You are likely to see some boats in the area as well.
All and all the island offers a great experience for nearly everyone.
