The Works Café

WOW! This place was recommended to me as a bagel place and The Works Café is MUCH more than just bagels! First off, there is plenty of seating so you don't have to worry about that. When you stand at the register to order you can't see the far end of the menu, that's how much they have! From sandwiches to smoothies, they have it all and I have so mucn I'm excited to try. I got myself a sandwich which the cashier was helpful in informing me on what's good, and I was able to get a hot apple cider, my favorite. The sandwiche was excellent, and all of it was a good price. So far, I'd say this is the best breakfast food available in Durham.

I really enjoy the bagels, the fruit bits in my smoothie not so much, though I understand that's just what happens with fresh made smoothies. The Portsmouth location has better bagels than the Durham location in my opinion, but both are great nonetheless!
Lastly, I really love the mobile app! Selecting allergens to be apart of your profile along with dietary preferences is unique compared apps like Tropical Smoothie or McDonald's. The app is simple to understand and relatively quick to sign in.

So many options on the menu, and great each time! My personal favorites are the egg sandwiches for breakfast, or the farmer's veggie sandwich for lunch. The Portsmouth location has the same great food as well!

I love the works. The food is so good and their turkey avocado bacon sandwich practically heals my depression. The service is fast and efficient and the atmosphere is great for a casual lunch.

Service never takes long, prices are very reasonable, and the quality is incredibly consistent. Also a big fan of the whole local sourcing thing and how much they’ve tried to cut down on packaging and cutlery waste. Very nice place to stop into

The salmon quinoa bowl and smoothies are always a hit! The staff is also super friendly and helpful :)

Very good sandwiches, with delicious options for vegetarians. The protein bowls are delicious and a nice alternative to typical café menu. They source many of their ingredients from local/New England farms, so you can feel good about supporting local businesses. You do pay a premium for this quality, so not really a budget lunch spot. The coffee is very good and the staff has always been great.

I used to go here on Saturday mornings when I was at UNH to work on my thesis. The staff's awesome and it has this calm inviting vibe. Full of interesting people of all ages and the bagels are beyond amazing.

I don't know what they put in their coffee, but it's delicious. Restaurant class in a cafe. A jalapeno cheddar bagel with cheese sausage and egg sounds delicious on its own, but these guys put some magic in it.

This place consistently has good food and service. It’s a nice treat in the morning.

Chicken barbecue panini, best food I've put in my mouth. Perfect temp, great flavor. Smoothies great-danish perfect mix of crispy outside and soft middle. Mac and cheese could be better but nice sauce.

Good place for study or reading! My favorite was Kale Crush Smothie!

The works is an easy go to with friendly staff! We are regulars and that won’t be stopping anytime soon

I’m a truck driver that delivers to a pharmacy in this plaza where The Works is located.This morning I decided to go inside for the first time because I was hungry and could also use a cup of coffee on a very cold morning. I must say I was very pleased to have gotten my food very fast. Not only was the service good but the food tasted delicious! Best breakfast that I’ve had in quite awhile. And NO this is not a paid review!
