Howard Johnson by Wyndham Portsmouth

I stayed here for 1 night for work, and was pleasantly surprised. The building itself is old and dated, but the furniture is all updated and modern. The bed was comfortable and the sheets and blankets were good quality. My room was clean. The bathroom was a bit dingy with low lighting, but again, it was CLEAN. For the price, this place is a great option. The continental breakfast was average, they offered lots of carb options (bagels, English muffins, bread), yogurts and juice. I grabbed an English muffin with PB on my way out the door. The guy at the front desk was also friendly and check in was easy.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The bed linens smelled new and the mattress was in great condition. The breakfast included yogurt which is a necessity for older digestive systems. thank you for a wonderful stay.

Great retro decor and clean/presentable for this price level. Breakfast offerings were minimal. Extremely convenient place to stay for those visiting from out of town for events at Jimmy's Jazz Club. I'll be returning for a Hampton Beach Casino concert overnight stay this fall.

We stayed here one night here for an event in town. I was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness of the room. It was spotless! The king size bed was comfortable, however the pillows were your standard small, foam pillows, yet adequate. I had brought my own. The check-in process was quick and smooth and the front desk manager Michael was very professional and efficient. The continental breakfast was the usual coffee, toast, cereal, muffins etc. However, I believe they also offered microwaveable breakfast sandwiches but I didn't try one.

The location is right off the highway and very convenient. I would definitely recommend this place. And, when I got home I was also very pleased to find out that my Wyndham reward points had been added to my account very quickly!

This place was great - especially Michael! I called & explained that I completely understand the reason for the hours between 11 & 3 check out/in times, but I was wondering if there was any chance I could check in early because I had been out shopping & fell. His 1st words were, "Oh my gosh, are you ok?" I said I was. He said that they hadn't had a full night the night before, & my room was available. He was nice & incredibly helpful. The room was clean & very comfortable. My daughter & I have worked in the hospitality industry for years. We know how things are supposed to be run. We were pleased! If we are ever back in that area again, we will be back!

This is a very nice hotel. Obviously, it was a well cared for property that had then been totally updated and modernized recently. The room was attractively decorated, clean, conformable, and quiet.The location was close to everything. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast included egg, cheese, sausage biscuits and was much nicer than the normal continental breakfast. This was a great bargain.

Excellent choice. The rooms, lobby & corridors are super clean. Bed was comfortable, lots of nice little touches in the room like proper clothes hangers, places to charge devices, fridge & microwave. There’s also a ton of natural sunlight which is a plus. Great location right off 95 & only a few minutes drive to Portsmouth’s historic center. Will definitely return.

Great location! Hotel is quiet, clean, and has easy access to the high way. Mr. Robbin Guest Service Manager was fantastic and helped make our month long stay for a travel assignment so enjoyable! On site laundry and fitness center made our stay very convenient. As a travel nurse and travel pipefitter we highly recommend staying here!

The hotel seems to be recently renovated. The room was very clean, the bed was very comfortable. We had no noise issues and the AC worked well. I would definitely stay here again.
The only negative we had, has nothing to do with the hotel. We wanted to use Uber to go into town and have a few drinks. It took 20 minutes plus to get an Uber to even accept the ride each way. It seems like Uber is not used very much in the area. We went into town around 4:30 and came back at 9:30, so not really "Rush hour" on a Saturday. Just wanted to give a heads up if you are in the area and looking to use Uber.

Very clean and comfy. Staff was helpful. Stayed at Howard Johnson in another state also. These hotels are always great when it comes to cleanliness. The beds are absolutely the most comfortable out of many hotels by far. For the family or couples this is an excellent stay. Can't beat the price for the condition and accomodations.

The location of this hotel is great. It’s close to the highway, close proximity to dining options and attractions in the area. The staff was very friendly. We had a continental breakfast that included breakfast sandwiches. Overall the room felt clean and the bed was comfy (I’m a side sleeper). I would stay here again if I’m ever in the area.

Love this place. Ryan at the front desk is amazing. Great brownies and egg sandwiches in the morning. General Manager Tyrone very attentive and pleasant. Great comfy beds and super clean rooms. Great vending machine selection and laundry services. Front desk has great complementary goodies to enhance your stay. Wyndham's are known for keeping their guests fed and happy. Excellent coffee in the rooms. Super fresh and tasty. Great restaurants in the area. Less than two miles from downtown. Great quality shampoo and Soap products, top of the line Matrix brand. Fresh smelling towels. Great working A/C units. Fridge , Iron, and single serve coffee maker in all the rooms. Super friendly front desk staff. This hotel cares about it's customers and always makes you feel welcomed. Great parking options. I love this place from start to finish. You won't be disappointed with the Wyndham brand.

The hotel was very clean, the staff was friendly and the room was great. We had a king sized bed and it was really comfortable. The staff cleaned our room in between our days ( we were there for 3) and gave us new shampoo/ conditioner. Really overall enjoyed the experience. They only issue we had was that they just worked on our shower and it was too tight to open , had to have my husband really renfh it open. That's nothing compared to the rest of it!

Front desk attendant was so kind and helpful when we had a hard time getting our room key to work he came up and showed us how to do it ! Quick check in . Room was very clean and beautiful decorated ! Grab and go breakfast was good as well ! Really enjoyed our stay .

The hotel room is clean and comfortable. Beds are comfortable, AC is and hot water are great, the décor is contemporary. Breakfast is filling, we also got delicious brownies! We have a very pleasant stay here!
