I recently ended up going to the ER at 9:30pm on a Thursday night. I was in excruciating abdominal pain, and seen after only waiting a half hour or so. While it took a while to get imaging done, the ER staff were all so kind and helpful. Doing what they could to try and relieve my pain and give me fluids. Once imaging confirmed it was my gallbladder, I was given an anti-inflammatory that helped immensely bring the pain down from a 10 to a 3. After a couple hours I was taken up to my official room and would be having surgery in the afternoon. Nursing staff overnight was so sweet, and checked on me often, but not too often where I couldn’t get some naps in. In the afternoon I was brought down to surgery and spoke with the surgeon, anesthesiologist, nursing staff, ER techs, etc. They explained everything to me and answered any questions I had. Don’t remember a thing after being wheeled into the operating room. When I was brought to my room, once again the nursing staff was so amazing to me, up until my discharge the following day.

To summarize. Crouse Hospital and staff really helped me so much in an emergency situation. Everyone from the doctors, nurses, anesthesiologist, ER techs, medical technicians, nursing assistants, to even the sanitation staff and the staff who takes food orders were all seriously so incredibly gentle, caring, and sweet to me. No hyperbole, EVERY medical staff member treated me with the utmost kindness. I hope I don’t have to go to the hospital again anytime soon, but if I’m still in Syracuse, it’s Crouse. Thank you to everyone from the hospital who helped me.

I had a great experience delivering my February baby at Crouse. The staff was so attentive and helpful. Everyone I saw seemed really passionate about maternity and helping me as I enter motherhood. From the doctors, nurses and lactation specialists I felt like me and the baby were in good hands.

It is impossible to rate any hospital w 5 stars. But I've had 20 surgeries, 15 major, so I know hospitals. They will never please everyone. Crouse does the best they can to make your stay pleasant. The best nurses that try not to wake you up at night while getting vitals and the cleaning staff that wipes down every surface imaginable. Even the cafeteria will go out of their way with your special requests. Oh and there's the doctors and Surgeons. The ones I've dealt with are very good. Always good to look at all your options, near and afar. Learn as much as you can, read mayo and Cleveland clinic. Research where in the world do they perform this surgery the best. Get health insurance for peats sake. Don't use the Er like it's your primary doctor. Get use to having to wait for every little tiny thing you want.
Get family or friends to come in to help. Also most importantly you must be your own advocate. Fight for what you need. Whether it be an extra creamer or a pint of blood.

The main switchboard answering operator connected me to the patient's floor...the "floor nurse" transferred my call to the patient's room, and he answered. As I'm not a relative of the patient I expected negative results. Thank you C-I for understanding and ending my frustration.

Crouse Hospital is an excellent facility for medical assistance, particularly suitable for those with a pregnant partner. The staff, notably the nurses, are exceptional in their professionalism, kindness, and efficiency. They respond swiftly to patients' needs, often arriving within seconds of the bedside button being pressed. The hospital's food is surprisingly good, offering a variety of choices, and there's even an affordable option for guests to dine. Additionally, there's a snack and drink section on the 3rd floor for after-hours needs. Security is tight, requiring identification and verification for visitor access, along with a visitor's sticker for proper identification on the premises. For parking, the conveniently located garage across the street offers reasonable rates, with a weekly pass being a cost-effective option for longer stays. In summary, I highly recommend Crouse Hospital to anyone seeking quality medical care.

I am writing this years later, but it was a bit painful to recount publicly earlier than at this time. On June 1, 2020 my husband was diagnosed with lethal brain tumors very suddenly. He had taken very good care of himself, was fit, and his bloodwork always presented as perfectly healthy. His symptoms were vague (fatigue) until a few days before the MRI diagnosis. He had also just started taking a new drug that crosses the blood brain barrier. To make a long story short, the neurosurgery staff was superb. Upon discovery of the tumors, he was immediately scheduled for brain surgery. They removed 2 large cancer masses located deep center (just above the ventricles) and in the right area of his brain with minimal damage. Miraculous, thanks to God, the skilled surgeons, and the functional MRI. He received excellent care in ICU and on 6 North, but the cancer was very aggressive, returned, and he died 77 days later. But, despite the surgeries, he was able to come home for about 1.5 months. During his home time, he regained his ability to speak, swallow, and with some assistance, perform ADLs, and walk. The successful surgeries gave our family priceless time to spend with this wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. I am ever grateful to Crouse for their excellent care of my beloved husband during the very difficult COVID years.

Labor and Delivery
I had my first baby at this hospital. Everything was absolutely great. The doctor and nurses made my experience amazing. They made me feel so comfortable and safe the whole time. I always was checked in on to make sure I was ok. My delivery doctor was so patient and awesome during the whole process and every single nurse I encountered, I couldn’t thank enough of how caring they all were. I was in so much pain and I was too early in my labor, they made sure to keep my pain level down and keep my comfortable until birth too. Postpartum care was great too. I had a lot of one on one, lots of education talks, advice, tips and just lots of encouragements. I always got help going to the restroom. My nurses never hesitated to help me with my baby especially being a first time mom. I broke down at some point because postpartum really hit me, and my feelings were just horrible at that point, and I remember one of the nurses just holding my hand , telling me it’s going to be ok. Postpartum rooms were great too. They weren’t spacious as someone would like but I loved how they kept a comfortable bed for me and my partner so we could both sleep. Circumcision for my son went smoothly. Healed very quick and they made sure of it too. Highly highly highly recommend for your birth here!

E.R experiences
I’ll be completely honest. I’ve had horrible E.R experiences here. E.R nurses are so pushy and rude. They talk to you like they are annoyed with you especially when you ring for something you need. I definitely don’t feel better afterwards, I’ve had to sign my eke out multiple times. I’m sure others have different opinions; I’ve never had a great experience here for emergencies,

i had my son Colson September 9th 2022, i’ve been meaning to get around to this review but it will forever stick with me. my first nurse at 4am, a young beautiful lady named Massama helped me so much. it was her time to leave and i got another nurse who was also great! but by 5pm i got massama back and she basically birthed my son and helped me through everything. it was the most magical experience every first time mother could dream about thanks to her. she was so helpful in all the after birth care too. i have never felt so safe with a stranger. future births i will be requesting her and if you are delivering at crouse REQUEST HER if she’s working!! she lathered me up in mineral oil leading up to practice pushing and made it so i had no tears at all. she’s an actual angel and i’m so thankful i hit the lottery having her as my nurse.

I came here for a retinal detachment surgery. It went smoothly and the staff were professional and friendly. Also, I appreciated to get a follow up call the day after I was discharged.

After we had our first kid here, we decided to have the second here too. Excellent nursing staff and the pediatrics division is wonderful.
My wife and I are thankful for this hospital. We are especially grateful for Nurse. Angela Quirino who was extremely helpful explaining every single detail to us, and she is one of the reasons that made us traveling a long journey from NY city to Syracuse just to have the baby delivered here but worth it for sure.
Thank you all for three days of peace inside the hospital and i wish you all bright future.

I delivered my daughter at Crouse and couldn't have asked for a better experience! My modwife was PHENOMENAL and my nurses were amazing. I delivered at 8:45pm, so it was after shift change, and my nurses had stayed through my delivery. My midwife came in after her clinic visits just to deliver my baby. The staff were incredibly friendly and professional. My nurses on the maternity floor were amazing as well. My day nurse over the weekend definitely went above and beyond.

I visited the improved Crouse Irving hospital walk in clinic/Emergency care center last night. I was pleasantly surprised at the level of attention and prompt service I received. Please keep in mind that I despise hospitals. I was brought to triage within 20 minutes. I was seen ,diagnosed and discharged within an hour. Fantastic improvement. Thank you for making me feel like I was a fellow human unlike the POS hospital behind them.

Yes the staff is wonderful and helpful but the very best customer service we received was from the Valet Parking Team. We were at the hospital on and off several times over nearly three days. They were pleasant, professional, helpful and courteous. The two stand outs in this area were Trevor and Bobby. Well done Gentlemen, and thank you for your outstanding customer service.

Had surgery Monday. Dr. Mary Cunningham and team, 4 South staff and food service made my stay as pleasant as possible. Straight forward answers to questions in a timely manner. Discharge instructions clear and concise, prescriptions were ready at the pharmacy (thank you Discharge Planner).

Had the best experience for my first surgery. I had my gallbladder removed and am thankful for Dr. Sadowitz and team for making it painless. I am extra thankful for my nurse Melissa Houge. She was the best and without her I would not have made it through my post-op well. She made sure I was not in pain and talked me through the whole recovery process.

Mom spent most of a week in Comfort Care at Crouse while she battled her last days of cancer. I can’t say enough about the caring, respectful staff on the 4th floor handling room 4012! They never once checked on Mom without asking if we needed anything. Thank you!
