2024: Had to come back and edit my review for an update — place is still fantastic with excellent drinks and fast service!!

2022: Great place! I came here for the first time and ordered a large brown sugar boba, as seen in the picture below — 10/10 would order again :) They also have a diverse boba menu with unique flavors that I look forward to trying.

Yammy bubble tea with good location near SU campus! You can experience a variety of beverage from classic boba to fruit tea.
Or you can customize your own milk tea by selecting your tea variation, milk foam or toppings.
This shop even supplies dessert including macaron, cakes or mochi.

Had lunch at Hi Tea because I was craving fried rice and soup. The duck leg is so good and the fried rice is packed with cubes of roast pork, eggs, and vegetables. It one of the better fried rice I’ve had in a while! The soup has tons of wontons, some shrimps and bok choy topped with sesame seeds. Another great dish! I’ve had their classic boba tea a month before and it’s also great! Just because this is a tea place, doesn’t mean they don’t have great lunches/dinners! Definitely 5/5

Good Asian dessert shop. Has everything you want at one place. Savory food, sweet pastries, and bubble tea all in one. Very impressed with this place coming from NYC.

Hi Tea has to be my favorite bubble tea shop in Syracuse! I visited the shop a few weeks ago with a friend, and we absolutely loved the atmosphere and the drinks. I will definitely come back again!

The staff are very kind and hard working. Their tea is simply delicious, you can taste the richness of the tea. They also have a variety of different options to choose from. Beyond tea, they also have several meals you can order. I've personally not done so, but the food looks simply divine. It's a great environment to study or simply hang out in. Bring your friends. Highly recommend for college students or just about anyone.

Update: Thank you for rehoming the fish! I have updated my review to 5 stars to reflect the great tea, snacks, employees and environment. This is definitely the best place for tea in upstate/western NY!

Original 1 star Review: I feel compelled to write this review after my recent visit to Feng Cha. I have been going regularly for a while and always have a great time. The staff is fantastic and the tea is the best in Syracuse. However, this past weekend I noticed a beta fish being housed in an incredibly undersized “bowl” (see attached photo).

I am sure that the owners are just unaware but the condition in which they are keeping this fish is cruel. According to the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, beta fish should be housed in a “5-gallon glass or plastic tank or larger” with a low-flow filter and temperature control. Again, I am sure that the owners are just uniformed as they probably purchased a product marketed as a habitat for beta fish, however beta fish specific products are notoriously too small and not properly filtered. Kept in the current condition the water quality will be difficult or impossible to maintain and toxins can build up leading to immunosuppression and other diseases.

Again, I really enjoy the service and quality of Feng Cha but I hate to see an animal needlessly suffering. I am posting this review in hopes that the owners see it and either rehome the fish or create an appropriate habitat for it at which point I will gladly change my review to a well-deserved 5 stars. It is important to remember that fish are sentient and should not be used as decoration with no consideration to their well-being. I encourage the owners to look into the bevy of information on proper beta fish care available online. When the beta fish is cared for humanely and compassionately customers will be able to admire the beauty of the fish in a way that is respectful to the animal.

This is by far the best Bubble Tea spot in the area. Their milk teas taste great and their milk foams are decadent! I recently had a fresh lemon black tea and it was such an excellent idea to keep the fresh lemon slices in the tea, as it gave the tapioca an amazing depth. Their cakes are also delicious and a great price for the portion! I can't wait to try their food next!

I love this place! The shop is very cute and relaxing. I've been happy with every drink I've had. The workers always give helpful suggestions and answer any questions. This is probably the best boba/bubble tea shop around the Syracuse area.

The best boba I’ve ever had! I have tried dozens of tea shops but none even come close to Hi Tea! The shop itself is adorable and a fun place to hangout.

Best bubble tea near SU. It's definitely pricey, but most things on Marshall street are. I love their real taro bubble latte and their jasmine jelly honey tea. If you don't like your drinks too sweet you can ask for less sugar. For their food, try their duck burger and tea eggs. The former is worth the price and the latter is a great savory side dish for just a dollar.

Their other food aren't bad, but the quality is not consistent and you don't get much for for the price.

I had their duck noodles today and they were amazing! I've grown up eating duck and this did not disappoint. Not to mention, the portion size was HUGE and could definitely feed at least 2-3 people. Great value, great flavor, and great business owners—could not ask for more!
