San Diego Burial at Sea

My dad had it right. Actually, he had a lot of things right, but telling us he wanted a burial at sea and in San Diego was indeed the best send off we could give him. He served for 8 years in the Navy and in the end his 8 bells were heard. And we could not have done it without the compassion and assistance of San Diego Burial at Sea. From the first call and emails, George and staff were caring, understanding and simply accommodating. No question was left unanswered. The day was perfect. The crew, Joey, Holly and Jodi were all caring and wonderful. It is never easy to say goodbye, but every time we dip our toes in the ocean, it will have a very special meaning. Thank you again to George and all the crew!

Everything went so well throughout the whole process from the beginning ... to ... the day of the 'Burial At Sea' Celebration of Life for our mother. My family and I couldn’t have been more pleased with San Diego Burial at Sea for our recent double-ash spreading excursion. Tawanna was super helpful organizing all the details and she was wonderful on the catamaran preparing the ashes, guiding us on how to release them into the water and making us feel so comfortable while on the boat. I would highly recommend their services- the SD Bay is a beautiful location and thanks to our wonderful boat Captain we even saw a young whale! SD Burial at Sea made our services an experience we will always treasure.

My mother passed away in June of 2021. My brother and I wanted to honor her in a unique way. We grew up in San Diego, so we knew she would like her ashes scattered at sea. I research on Google and found San Diego Burial at Sea. I sent an email and started working with George. I live in Missouri, so I planned this trip long distance. I gave them a five-star review because it was one of the best experiences I have encountered. The crew on the boat was fantastic. Pam and her team outdid themselves, ensuring I was comfortable during the trip. The team treated my guests like they were family. I booked the three-hour tour because it allows enough time to hang out with family and friends after the scattering. The guests were able to make new memories. I highly recommend San Diego Burial at Sea. Thank you so much, George! Your crew did an outstanding job turning one of the most challenging days of my life into a peaceful and serene memory.

I cannot recommend these folks any higher. 10 stars! They know exactly what to do, guide you every step of the way from the first phone call. Super responsive, caring and capable. We had a lady captain and a lady attendant. They were both terrific. The boat was beautiful and we loved every bit of our day! A special shout out to George who was so patient and helpful! If your loved one qualifies, George will also seamlessly arrange military honors prior to the boat launch. It was so special.

I want to express my sincere THANKS to Tawanna and her crew for the super job she did organizing my husband’s burial at sea. This was an “Unattended Service” (meaning I wasn’t going to be there). I get extremely sea sick and couldn’t be on the boat. Tawanna was very helpful getting everything organized for me. She also made it possible for 12 Hospice volunteers to go out giving them firsthand knowledge of the procedure. This hands-on involvement should allow them to answer possible questions from future hospice patients. Tom would have loved this. Thanks again to everyone from San Diego Burial at Sea for making a difficult day go as smoothly as possible.

San Diego Burial at Sea was amazing from start to finish. They allowed us a lot of freedom in creating our own ceremony and answered every single planning question along the way in an efficient manner. The actual event went very smoothly with Aimee as the Host and Liz as the Captain. We will cherish this memory forever.

From the beginning of the planning, through all of the details (including a shout out to Flowers of Point Loma for the beautiful gardenias) and to the day of the cruise, we could not have asked for a more compassionate, caring crew to help us say a final goodbye to our beloved mother, Molly. My only regret was that Mom couldn't be there in person. She would have loved everything! My mother recently passed and she requested her ashes be scattered. The crew (Amie) was absolutely lovely, our Skipper Herb was wonderful and kept the boat in smooth water. The process was explained in very clear detail and they were able to provide a beautiful service that really honored my mom. George was very understanding when my dates and plans had to be shifted. They made our celebration of life and ashes release a beautiful and special occasion. The facilitator, Angie, was incredibly kind and helpful and made sure everything went smoothly. A lovely cruise on a beautiful day. We wouldn't change a thing. Highly recommend.

Geroge made it a very easy process in assisting our family with the spreading of my sisters ashes out to sea, captain and crew were also very nice and did a great job in communication between them to give us a nice send off. From the beginning, George and Cameron were most helpful with getting things in order. The tenderness and care shown by Tawanna before we even boarded the boat was most gracious. Her and Erica set up the photos and flowers and food beautifully and with such great detail. They were also very attentive to any needs we might have had. A beautiful experience was had by all.
