Debbie was a wonderful waitress and the food was great. Got to play darts. Great atmosphere....highly recommend tgis place. Tie it in with a walk in the park.

Favorite place to get fried oysters. They are hands down the BEST in RVA. I’ve also had some tasty Rueben sandwiches from them, as well. Truly a great place to relax and enjoy some great food. They also have some great mozzarella wedges.

Great little spot. I've eaten here a few times. The Fried Oyster Platter was point on. The Cajun remoulade is smack with the oysters. Even taste delightful with the house fries. The salad itself is amazing. Everything was fresh about the salad and big slices to fill you more, and the House Made Raseberry Tarragon Vinaigrette splashed on the salad, amazing!! Will continue to order from here in the near future.

Not only was the food delicious, it came out fast and hot. The serves was wonderful and intensive. The corned beef cabbage rolls, catfish bites and fried oysters are a chief's kiss. definitely will be back. Oh, and the Raven runner to wash it all down yummy!

Wonderful service, location, and food. Food comes out quickly and is fresh and great quality. Definitely a must try in the area.

Exceptional and attentive service. Food was great and the menu has something for everyone, fries were just a little soggy. The restaurant was surprisingly very clean too

The Poe's Pub is a nice spot with cozy vibes. It's small pub but there is still plenty of seating available inside and outside. I really enjoyed the drinks, food, and the great service. I definitely recommend and I look forward to returning.

Love this place. Passing through Richmond on Dec 23, 2023 on a cross country road trip . Coming from Alabama. Haven't been to Poes in 7 or 8 years. Excited about bringing my daughter and her boyfriend in with me. Always loved this place

Enjoyed our visit tremendously. The food was excellent. Highly recommend the fried oysters and the prime rib sandwich. Alexis our bartender was very welcoming and made us feel like locals. Place had a great atmosphere. Packed with locals and everyone knew everyone - and made us feel welcome. Can’t wait to come back again.

"Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore" with a little but of Poeism nestled into the pub, I could imagine Edgar sitting in here enjoying a brew. A true staple of Richmond this pub offers a good amount of items to choose to eat. Staff is always friendly, sometimes a bit scattered, but always keep the mood light. Place kind of feels like a good friend's garage, with a bunch of eclectic items through. They have a dart board and there was a portable disc golf hole in the main dining area, so I guess they might put that outside to play. They have a little outside patio, for some outdoor seating. Food is always tasty. Got some pierogies which were very good. I ordered the catfish meal, Blackened, but got the catfish sandwich which was lightly fried. Waitress tried to sell me that it was Blackened, but I don't think she new what Blackened is. Wasn't a big deal and it was still very tasty. Might just confirm my order next time when there. They have a little bar you can barely at. Think they might have a good regular crowd. It might just look short of a biker bar, but it's well worth your time to check it out. "Quoth the Raven, “Nevermore.”

Came here with some friends who were in town and we throughly enjoyed the food here. It was honestly the best fried catfish I’ve eaten. I’ve never had such flakey and sweet catfish before with no hint of the fishiness that comes with catfish. The paired coleslaw cut into the salt and balanced out the whole thing. Everyone else seemed like they enjoyed their food since plates were cleaned out. I’m not much of a drinker or into sports, but I’d come back for just the food.

EDIT: came back a week later to get a birthday lunch… the hush puppies are so good it should be illegal. Our waitress was kind enough to give us two honey butters without us asking which I greatly appreciated since I am a germaphobe. Got the catfish again but I’ll try something else next time!

Poe’s Pub is my favorite place in RVA! It’s not fancy, it’s not uppity, it’s not expensive. Food is excellent and I LOVE the drink menu. It’s everything I wanted from the city tbh. Right at the bottom of Libby Hill for excellent sunset views, it’s easy walk to the nature area at great ship lock park, and the occasional live music has blown me away! It’s open late so it’s a chill way to end a night out on the town with some chicken tendies and fries.

Excellent local spot! Happened upon it by accident and super happy we stopped here.
Food was fantastic, we did the grilled brussel sprouts with a balsamic glaze, walnuts and blue cheese, spinach salad and wings. All of it was filling and took leftovers for tomorrow’s travels.
Our server, (I think her name was Alexis - she had red hair, which was amazing) was also great! Friendly, answered all of our questions and just provided really great service.
Really neat local place surrounded by history.
Also, I had no idea Edgar Allen Poe spent so much of his life in Richmond…interesting!

I really love local places! I got a very delicious burger (the Commonwealth) and a generous helping of fries. It definitely fits the pub category. The staff is extremely courteous and I really support local restaurants over chain restaurants. The theme is really wonderful and there are lots of funny/interesting ties to Poe within the restrauant.

Edit: I suggest making the mozzarella wedges thinner so you can provide more without actually raising the cost. Or possibly take them off the menu as suggested. I appreciate your response!

I have passed by Poes pub many time and this time I stopped in. This is an old fashioned bar and restaurant. It's fun to look at as you drive by. Inside is the same with things to look at on the wall. The bathroom was clean and also has posters on the walls. I ordered the oyster plate and it was cooked just right for me my date had parodies and a salad. The salad was so large she had to take half of it home.

Great Service, ordered the Blue Cheese Burger and it was excellent, it comes with 2 thick pieces of Bacon! And side of fries. The Burger was Huge!! So Good.

Must visit if you're in Richmond! The food and service were excellent! Raven fries all the way was my favorite. I also had the Poe's Club and that was perfect!

Meatloaf this last time at lunch on 12/13/23 was way too spicy! All the food is usually very good. Just wanted Poe's to know!

I needed lunch and my go to place was closed, so I looked up nearby places on UberEats and found this good looking club, and it was only 10 dollars, plus a 1.50 for onion rings.

I was amazed when I opened up the container and saw this. This club is AMAZING. Big portions, fresh, well put together. I will most certainly be coming back multiple times.

The wait for the food was practically non-existent since it was midday at a pub, but I’ve been to places that took 20+ minutes with an empty store.

Give this unassuming place a shot!

I can’t believe we have been here since 2004 and not been here. Wow! So delicious. Truly local vibe and great food.
