My daughter has gone here her entire life. I'm not looking for rainbows and lollipops. I just want her to be taken care of by the best. Which she is. Dr. Winslow's right hand is Valre Welch. I trust her and if I need to see her she takes care of business. There was a girl that took my daughters weight that was not very friendly but she doesn't make or break it for me there.

Our appointment was for Pediatric Urology at Stony Point on August 18. The ultrasound prior to her appointment went very well except for about 20 minute wait. The ladies at the front desk in the doctor's office were very nice, professional. Until we had to wait over an hour for the doctor in the exam room, it was good. When the doctor came in she explained things reasonably well although she was hard to understand. She still didn't have the radiologist's reading of the ultrasound but looked at it herself and ultimately said she would call us to discuss the final results. When I hadn't heard from her I called and left a message on August 22. By September 13 I had to take her to the pediatrician for increased urinary problems. He was supposed to call the MCV doctor and asked me to call also since doctors at MCV are notoriously hard to reach. I called at 11:30 and again left a message, including that I needed to hear instructions about taking the prescription. Again, no reply. I called again today, put on hold for 6 minutes, gave up, then tried again. After being on hold for 14 minutes, I again left a message. So my impression is that you may THINK you have a doctor here, but the reality is that you DON'T. The reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is due to Ultrasound, and doctor's office front desk and nurses.

They cancelled our pre-op appt the day before, stating they no longer did them, and we needed to see our pediatrician. Then they had our post-op appt off by one day, and we had all appointments on the same day of the week to fit schedules, so we know we only picked that one day.

The procedure was done fine, and the doctor/nurse interaction was fine, just the office staff were an issue.

TAKE TIME TO READ REVIEWS OF THIS PLACE!!! THEY ARENT GOOD ONES!!! I wish I had taken the time to read reviews prior to making an appointment with this office. Much like the last review I made an appointment to see a SPECIALIST FOR my 7 year old daughter who also been battling UTI infection for going on 8 weeks. She has had 4 positive urine cultures in the last 2 months for UTI. After waiting in the waiting room we were finally called back.. the girl doing her weight clearly had ZERO experience with children with autism which was CLEARLY written at the top of the form. Had she had any experience she would've known spitting orders (stand here, hands down, be still, don't move) doesn't really register well with children with autism. We finally were put in a room where we were "seen" by a nurse practitioner NOT A SPECIALIST! She also clearly lacked the concept of working with children with autism.. she was quite rude in her comments to my daughter saying things like "you don't have a choice" "it doesn't matter if you like to" in reference to my child needing to drink lots of water... mind you all my children are allowed to drink is water!! So clearly again, drinking water isn't the issue!

I'm stating this from someone who works with children everyday as a fellow business owner. I would never run my business this way!!!

Our ENTIRE visit consisted of the nurse practitioner feeling my daughters stomach and that is it.. no urine test, no ultrasound NOTHING!!! MIND YOU they offer ultrasounds IN OFFICE! THE NURSE DID pull the x-ray from the ER and simply stated her bowels were full.. as though this is the answer to 4 positive urine tests for UTI. She said they would refer us for ultrasound near where we live within the month and follow up with her pediatrician..

So all in all IF you want to see a SPECIALIST DON'T GO HERE!!! If you want real answers DON'T GO HERE!! You will not at all be seeing a doctor!! I've already contacted my insurance to let them know we were seen by a NURSE not a doctor and they should watch for billing accordingly. My mother was with me during this visit and both of us FLOORED by the way this office runs. I've also filed a complaint with the medical board in Richmond as well.

Go elsewhere to get adequate care for your child. ESPECIALLY with issues like a UTI as it can be dangerous for young children and not something you wait around with..

The office consultation fee is $445.70, for us this includes a background check of medical history for a 3 week old and a 10 minute consultation with the specialist. The consultation with the specialist resulted in disclosure of complications they recently had doing a similar procedure to another patient. We decided to go elsewhere.

If you can, please visit another office, they charge you for no show fees, when you did NOT schedule any appointments, Nurse Practitioner Valerie Welch is rude, condescending and very unprofessional. I wish I would have went to an entire different Doctor's office, I would never recommend this place ever !!!!
