HASLAM'S BOOK STORE, INC.

To start off I used to love going to Haslams and looking at the wide array of books, but ever since covid hit, they've been shut down. which brings me to my other point. I work nearby at one of the places on that strip of buildings that uses the parking lot nearest Haslams in the back, but in the morning when arriving, the Central Cyclists have taken all of the parking in the back, most of the parking on the side streets and the parking in front of the businesses. I typically have a big handful of things in the morning as I am carrying things for the business. and due to the cyclists taking every spot available, I'm left with parking down the road which makes it difficult when I am carrying handfuls of things for the business. so the only spot available that was in carrying range was right next to the dumpster which so happens to be right behind one of the haslams buildings, on the far left side(barely even in their parking area). there are multiple spots available here but it is "private property". I was left a note on my vehicle saying it would be towed and this and that but I am not left with many other options. seeing as how this business has been closed for years it just seems very petty and childish to be towing cars when there is perfectly good spaces available to park, yet the business is not using a single space. I could see if the business was open, it would be totally understandable but I feel like this is unnecessary. a smarter option would be to use the spaces that people desperately need to go about their work day without the unneeded extra stress of wasting time trying to find a parking spot, (which is sometimes down the road quite a bit or in a two hour parking which is hard to move your vehicle sometimes when you are in a busy time at your job) charging for parking or setting something up with the local businesses in the area to rent it out for a price a month or whatever and giving those employees passes to validate their spot or something. (plus it would be extra money for the owner of Haslams since there's no business there anyway) just seems redundant to have so much parking available when the business is closed and people desperately need more space to park their vehicles.

It's really sad you closed out of cowardice due to covid 19. Your patrons deserved better. You didn't close for public safety. You closed to save youself.
