Clay Center of St Petersburg

Huge pottery center with 33 artists studios. Artists are incredibly talented, friendly and love to share their work and tell you how their clay pieces are made (pottery wheel, hand sculpted, Raku fired, different glazing techniques, etc). Lovely gift shop with lots of pottery and clay art sculptures for sale. Bright space and very welcoming. Offers an array of pottery classes. Participates in St. Petersburg Art Walk.

I bought a Groupon for myself, my mom and Grandma and we had a wonderful time with Martha! She was a great teacher and we are excited for the next class to paint our pieces. You schedule your second class the day of the first class. There’s a nice gallery of pieces you can purchase. The place is peaceful and inviting. I think I will keep coming back!

It is a lovely place to be!! Lyn, the owner is wondful and very helpful to the artists that do their work here. And also to visitors and or family members of the artist.!! You want to learn how to become a future artist in clay, pottery, ceramics, This Is The PLACE,!!

Update: my wife and I returned. We figured with her now being experienced she would be able to get closer to the desired creation. Different instructor. Major difference in how he taught. Much easier to understand and he was willing to lend a hand for guidance.

Original Review: My wife and mother in-law throughly enjoyed the experience. They could have been a bit more educational while demonstrating. My wife went in with the mindset she was going to make a coffee cup and an espresso cup. The outcome was not as desired but could have been with the right mentoring. Awesome layout nice people.

Nice atmosphere! Lots of beautiful art to see to get inspired and amazing people to work with. Everyone is so nice here, you feel like your right at home. It's very welcoming and accommodating. If you want to know more about classes to take they are extremely helpful and patient with newbies. Working with clay is an extraordinary spiritual creative process that I think everyone needs to experience.

I had a great time. The teacher, Lynn was funny and very knowledge. The class is a 6 week journey with open studio time between classes. I had no previous experience, and found that I had no trouble understanding Lynn. Both my wife and I are taking the class, and we both had a great time. This was my first good price at the 1st lesson. Highly recommended.

I started the beginner classes a month ago and couldn’t be happier. Everyone is super friendly and helpful and the studio is amazing. I can’t wait to take the next levels

This is a fun clay studio! They have over 50 artists that have studios and make various clay pieces! They even have art classes! Definitely worth a visit, especially if you're an artist!

The instructors were very helpful and knowledgeable. Plenty of space to create. You can get Groupons. I would recommend this for friends or a date.

Took a workshop that was fantastic. Pottery tips, how to achieve a perfect bottom on bowls and vases, throw 12 pound pieces. It was remarkable. And the gallery itself is very impressive. Well worth your time. Stop in during gallery hours!!! You will be delighted.

Lynn was amazing! We had never done pottery before and she was so patient and accommodating. She really took the time to teach, show, and correct while still allowing us to be creative and do us! Will definitely be going back for another class!

Lynn is amazing! She even accommodated us when I messed up on the appointment for my class. She is very passionate about what she does and is a terrific teacher. She makes the learning fun and inviting. Will definitely be back!

The kids were part of their summer camp program and they both really enjoyed. The place is nice and the staff is great. I really like the gallery right on the entrance, very beautiful things and inviting. We would definitely be using them again next summer.

Just had such an amazing class with Allie Case!! My first time ever making clay bowls and pots and I felt like a pro. She took us step by step to make beautiful pieces. So much fun! 10/10 recommend to anyone. Book with Allie!

I took their Groupon clay-throwing class and could not have been happier! It was Saturday afternoon with a small group, and our instructor Pat was the best! She was really good about helping us fix our mistakes and making sure we came out with great pieces. I can't wait for part 2 of the class next week!

After checking out ALL of the studios in St Pete I stopped into the Clay Center of St Petersburg to see their studio prices and the center gallery. This place is great. Lyn was more than helpful in showing me the massive building and spaces available. I really love the gallery in the front of the building but they encourage you to walk around and check everything out, it was great. The owners Nancy and Lyn were over the top with helping me find everything I needed and tried to make everyone feel at home. If you are looking for a studio or amazing pieces of artwork, CHECK THIS PLACE OUT. It is a must stop for anyone visiting St Petersburg. It was a little hard to find at first but it is only a block from the old train station at 400 23rd street south in St Petersburg. You will not be disappointed.

This was a really fantastic experience. I attended solo and it was beyond worth attending. I saw the add on Groupon and was money well spent. The atmosphere is very calming and it was okay if you made a mistake. I made two clay pieces. I returned after they were "fired" to glaze! Turned out awesome (even though I think my pieces looked cheesy).

SAM Was absolutely amazing to work with and super attentive! She really helped us through all of the steps and was extremely thorough. We felt very comfortable asking any questions we had. Highly recommended 10/10
