I arrived and was greeted almost immediately by a very pleasant man. I only had to wait 15 minutes to be hooked up. The room was very spacious and the technician was very nice. I'd recommend them to anyone that needs a sleep study.

My visit was perfect. I felt heard and understood on my concerns. I didn't feel rushed. They asked lots of question and my thoughts. Worked together as a team to come up with a plan forward and then a follow up. Everyone was professional and respectful. Made you feel at ease.

Went in for a quick surgical procedure at 5:30am. Registration was great, slight wait in surgical waiting room, then into pre-op area. Had to use a wheel chair since knees not working well, which was no problem for nurse. She got me prepped, dressed and in the bed in a friendly manner. Nurse came in, introduced herself and took all vital information. All nurses and doctors involved in my treatment introduced themselves. The best part for me was having India, RN, hold my hand while I went under. Completely calmed me down. Waking up in recovery and having someone sit with you the whole time while you recover was another plus. Second procedure at this hospital, and same experience both times.

Although I was very anxious about this Cat scan, due to very fragile veins and a queasy stomach, it went surprisingly smoothly. Everyone was professional, the solution I drank wasn’t too bad,, and the tech found the vein on the first try. I was impressed!

I had a planned c-section here on March 4th with Dr. Hotchkiss and I can’t say enough good things about my experience. This was my second c-section. My first was an “emergency” with a different doctor in a different state a few years ago that left me incredibly traumatized and terrified to have another.

But this recent one was absolutely everything I could have dreamed a birth could be. Dr. Hotchkiss made sure I was surrounded by the best nurses and anesthesiologist who talked me through everything, kept me laughing, held my hand when I was terrified. I didn't know you could even experience something like this when it comes to birth. It was truly the most calm and healing experience.

My nurse whose name was Megan and had short blonde hair was the textbook definition of calm. Having her around made me feel so at ease and safe. She talked me through every single thing she was doing both before the we headed into the OR and during. She turned on a Taylor Swift playlist for me, held my hand and sang with me in the OR while they finished up and had asked my husband and the baby to head to the recovery room to wait for me. She was truly the kindest and most caring person and I don’t think I could’ve gotten through all of it without her.

Dr. Perry was my anesthesiologist and also amazing to say the least. I’m allergic to some medicine that they would normal give for pain relief and he did everything he could to find me a solution where I could be comfortable during and afterwards. He talked me through my entire spinal and my slight panic when I didn’t like how much I couldn’t feel my body. He checked in with me constantly through the surgery to make sure I was comfortable and even took the first photos of us with our son! He was a joy to be around and felt so comfortable trusting him from the beginning to end.

The postpartum nurses were great and incredibly kind to both my husband and I. They stayed on top of my medicines and answered any questions we had before we even got to ask them which was nice! There was a nursing student who I think was named Karla who was incredibly kind and went above and beyond to take care of me whenever she was in my room checking on the baby. She stopped what she was doing multiple times to help me back to my bed, help me get comfortable or get my nurse for my pain meds. She was so kind!

The lactation consultant, Sarah, was also great with answering questions, helped me with try a few different things to make breastfeeding more comfortable and brought me a bunch of stuff to take home too!

I have been beaming with happiness since that Monday morning! I would do it all over again with them (but absolutely will not be because this mama is done lol).

Definitely recommend Dr. Hotchkiss and MedStar Southern Maryland as well!

This 5 star rating is for the group that performed my angiogram at the hospital in January 2023 - they were EXCELLENT in every way possible - kind, caring, attentive, experienced and knowledgeable, and the list goes on. Else my experience at this hospital was like many others have posted - I did complete a survey and wrote comments giving specific examples (parties at 1 am at nurses station - crazy stuff), I don’t get why or how it’s allowed to go on. Maybe they should consult with a top hospital (there are plenty in DC) to learn how to fix things. My ambulance driver specifically thought I should go here due to heart issues - he said it’s the best one for the heart. I almost transferred to a DC hospital but then, finally, a good cardiologist helped me (Dr Suen). Oh yes and they were crazy to check me for COVID going in (I was negative) but they didn’t check me 5 days later when I left WITH COVID. A heart patient and I get home and I’m having trouble breathing! Would have been nice to know! From what I can see all the hospitals have pretty bad reviews except the one in Leonardtown…this experience made a huge impact on me to live healthier so I never have to go back!!! Good luck people.

I found the staff at Southern Maryland Hospital to be very concerned about the care of their patients on the second floor. I was in Rm 221A. They really did a good job caring for me. Everyone I came in contact with, from the Kitchen staff, Cleaning staff, Nurses to the Doctors. They were all very kind to me.

Everyone I came in contact with was helpful, caring and kind. Barbara H in registration was exceptionally kind and assuring. Her guidance and hug was welcomed and calming. The pleasant lady at check-in at Imaging was thorough and helpful. Samantha and Lydia- the caring people who perform the necessary procedure, were so patient and focused on my comfort and understanding of the procedure.

My appointment was made the day prior to my visit. From the initial meeting at the desk to the registration and then to the radiologist everyone was very friendly, professional, efficient and helpful. I could not be happier with the service that I got or the efficiency and proficiency of the staff!
