I’m an avid runner and weightlifter. About a year ago I sustained a foot injury that I couldn’t figure out. It was a sharp pain in my foot I felt when walking or running and it kept me off my feet. I visited several doctors, including Blue Ridge Ortho, and none of them could figure out why I was experiencing pain in my foot. Thankfully I was referred to John by my parents. In just two visits John helped me figure out what the problem was and made an exceptional custom orthotic for me that‘s kept my feet and knees much happier. He taught me all kinds of stretches and exercises that have kept me healthy. John takes the time to figure out what’s wrong. It’s clear he’s more concerned about helping you fix your problem rather than racking up your bill. I can’t recommend John enough he’s my go-to healer for any kind of persistent joint or back pain. Thanks for what you do John you’re a huge asset to our community!

John changed my life. I mean that sincerely. I saw him after I broke my foot and not only was his knowledge and skill superior, his energy is phenomenal. I was back doing yoga 6 weeks after my break, and it was during one of our sessions together that I became sure I want to become a massage therapist. Since then, John has been supportive, kind, and even taught me a few things. I cannot recommend him highly enough. Quality service, quality human.

John is the best physical therapist I know. I'm a professional massage therapist, and I send all my challenging cases to him. He's mentored me, and taught me so much about the intricacies of the body and of healing work in general. John works in many healing traditions and brings a ton of tools and perspective to each case. There might be someone better at this work, somewhere in the history of the world...but I'd still go to John. He fixes me best. --- Thomas J. Grant LMBT

Amazing massage/physical therapist! John has extensive knowledge in body mechanics and has been able to help me manage my scoliosis for many years. He focuses on the issues my scoliosis causes and provides much needed relief. He has also helped me understand my own body mechanics so that I can do exercises/stretching in between our sessions to manage my discomfort. He is truly the best.

My wife told me that she found the best massage therapist she has ever met, and that he is also a licensed physical therapist. I was reluctant because I was raised by farmers who told me to "tough it out." I finally decided to go and meet this person that my wife so loved, and was blessed with a wonderful experience. Not only did I find a well educated and talented individual, but I found a friend. That's what John is. Even for strangers. John is the type of person who knows what he wants to do in life and that is to heal, inspire and help anyone in his path. It's nice to have a professional, but it's even better to have a professional that cares. Thanks, John.

John's skills with my pain (lower back and hips) were pretty amazing. He is thorough, communicative, and knowledgeable about his practice. I thought he did an excellent job with me during my care. The treatment was deliberate and strong, which I appreciated immensely.

I have been a patient of John's for about 8-10 years now. I first came to John with a shoulder problem when he was located at Weaverville Family. We started out with conservative treatment and when that wasn't working he suggested dry needling. I was hesitant at first but I was in so much pain I was willing to try anything. The next day after the dry needling, I was pain free. It was amazing! I still get flare ups now and again and when I do, I call John and he gets me in quickly before the pain gets out of control. His new office is not far and is nice and relaxing. I recommend John to everyone I know.

John’s knowledge of how the muscles, ligaments and tendons all work together is phenomenal. He’s always studying to improve his craft and it shows. He is caring, intuitive and always exhibits a positive spirit. His therapies are the best I’ve ever experienced. I hope his career lasts a long time for all our health and wellness.

John not only fixed my feet; but also, he diagnosed a heart problem and saved my life. I had flat feet I could not walk more than 30 feet when I arrived at his office. The pain and swelling was unbearable. I had to drive 2.5 hours from home to his office and it was with the time!!!! His expertise and perspective improved my situation on many levels. My feet have arches now the swelling and pain is gone. I got the treatments I need for the other issues. His circulatory massage work is other worldly. I returned many times and recommended him to dozens of people. If you must travel from anywhere to experience his work- do not hesitate. The healing is worth much more than he charges. His talent empathy and expertise is in a class all his own!!!

John is one of the best physical therapists/healers I have ever met. The value for service you receive is outstanding. What you get from John in one hour is the equivalent of 3-4 sessions with someone else. He could charge WAY more—based on his credentials. But, he wants his services to be accesible. Exceptional human being and healer!

John is not only a wonderfully talented and well-informed physical therapist, he's a world-class massage therapist and a heck of a nice human being. I have recommended him to several friends and they have all had extremely positive experiences with him. Lovely guy, fantastic practitioner.

John is probably the most knowledgeable and experienced health facilitator I know, in the 15 years I've been in the healing business myself. On top of that, I don't know a PT I'd recommend more than him. I've had my family go see him for various conditions, and he treats them all--and me--with compassion, skill, and class. He's a gentleman, a thinker, and a helluva therapist. Go see him.

John is an incredibly talented and intuitive physical therapist. He’s probably the best I’ve ever been to, and unlike all the others, immediately figured out what was causing my leg pain and provided exercise and treatment that cured it. I recommend him without reservation!

I have been to John for 2 different pain situations. First, my knee was painful and he helped, but I finally had to have surgery replacement, which took a real long time to heal, and John helped greatly with that. Second, I had a problem with a ligament or a tendon or something in my neck, and he helped that immediately. I would recommend John Leonard for anyone who suffers pain. I needed no medications at all after his healing touch.

John got me on the track towards pain-free running again, with stretches and exercises tailored to my needs and body. My knee pain is mostly gone now. His suggestions for changing my sleep positions helped my recurring mid-back and neck pain as well. Additionally, I ended up getting one of his massages and it was the best I've had in Asheville so far. Highly recommended!

Three years ago I developed chronic pain in my knees. Although I live in Atlanta, I made an appointment with John Leonard because of his reputation for keen observational and problem-solving skills. John designed a set of orthotics for me, the problem with my knees was quickly solved and it has not returned. I highly recommend John for orthotic treatment.

John is extremely knowledgeable and is constantly upgrading his expertise. He combines massage with physical therapy in a unique way that has been immensely helpful. He diagnosed and provided effective treatment for conditions that had been missed by other medical providers.
