Gorgeous, well-kept, and a spectacular view around sunset. I would love to be laid to rest here.

Everyone should remember that once you bury your loved one, it is permanent and if the cemetery does not respect your loved one's grave, you are stuck. I buried my mother and daddy in the veteran's area of Ashelawn and after a truck ran over the graves and left runts across it months ago, it has not been fixed. I have called and my sister has gone in person and we get promise after promise and nothing is done. This is a purple heart recipient! Think before you bury your loved ones!

I m giving one star because you cant leave none and write a review, but I have seen nothing at this cemetery/mausoleum that would justify even one star. Heads up to individuals with loved ones in the mausoleum.
The loss of a loved one is hard enough without the heart ache of seeing their remains in horrible conditions. The cost of resting place, funeral services and interment is outrageous these days. But it is suppose to come with the peace of knowing family members are handled with the upmost respect. An when securing a plot or crypt for you or a loved ones final resting place, you should have peace of mind and satisfaction knowing that the maintenance and upkeep to that plot/crypt will be cared for and respected. Well unfortunately, that is not the case here. In their contract they take responsibility for upkeep.
An if I'm not mistaken they are suppose to have money in reserve for maintenance, repair and upkeep. I'm sure if the NC Cemetery Commission were to drop in they would be sited on many violations. Because the mausoleum couldn't possibly be up to their standards. They have busted cover plates sealing occupied crypts. The gaps around some of the cover plates allow you to see in the resting place of loved ones. One building has unfinished roof eves that during heavy rain I'm certain it allows for rain and moisture inside.. You can actually see water stains on the carpet and walls inside. I actually saw a rat hole where it had chewed into a resting place on the very bottom row in one of the mausoleums. Many names on the cover plates have missing letters. They are missing screws on the corners of some of the cover plates which keeps it from sealing properly. The entrance door on one of the mausoleums is broken. The brackets at the top are damaged. They have a sign on that door to not touch it as it is unsafe. That has been that way for over 2 years. The windows in the back wall of the mausoleums are plexi-glass instead of glass and they have broken pieces and cracks. While others have open cracks, where they are broken and partly separated from the structure settling. Apparently the site wasnt properly compacted before the buildings were built. Now the heavy concrete structure is cracking and separating. If you walk around back you can see just how much the structures have shifted and the amount of separation in the walls. On the inside of the mausoleum you can see into a couple of resting places and right on threw the back wall to the outside.
Plus, the mausoleums are very dirty, dusty, and cob webs everywhere.
There is a private crypt in the cemetery that has plywood leaned up to cover one side of the crypt, that has been waiting on the propper marble to seal it for a few years.
It's is a shame. Pure disrespect to the deceased and their families whom paid alot of money and entrusted something as precious as their loved ones, to the people over this resting place.
Also a friend of mine called a number of times about her mom's plate for her cover and the 100.00 plastic vase they were sold that had not been placed on her cover plate a year after she passed. She made several calls in which a few of those she was treated very rudely and hung up on.
So I encourage anyone whom has a mausoleum space at this cemetery or already has a loved one here. Might want to stop in and check the conditions.

If could give 0 stars I would. This place is in such bad repair. The concrete is cracked in the mausoleum, the carpet and walls have water damage, entrance doors are broken, fake stained glass is broken, marble covers are cracked, screws holding fronts of crypts are missing and the outside of building is falling apart.
Cemetarys are supposed to have money for perpetual care. It is the law!
Evidently Ashlawn Gardens of Memory does not comply or has no concern for the people in their care. I'm sure the N.C. Cemetery Commission would be very interested in this business.
