Raleigh Fire Station 4

This morning I squeezed a ring onto my middle finger. I knew I shouldn’t have for two reasons: 1. The ring was too small for my middle finger. 2. The ring is from my ex! I go about my day and think that I should probably take this ring off, but to my surprise I can’t! I can’t wiggle it past my knuckle. I’m starting to sweat a bit. My finger is swelling and making it even more impossible to imagine the ring sliding off. I start to think like an engineer, so I go to my car and grab my wire cutters. They are no match for this metal Peruvian ring. I break off pieces but can not unwind the metal that is so artistically looped around my finger. I go about this for about 2 hours while grocery shopping, and helping my friend with setting up a party. My finger is purple, I’m sweating. I look to my friend and say, “take me to the fire department.” We were a little nervous to walk onto the Bay Area because the trucks are huge and important, but upon knocking on the door, all of my problems were alleviated. I was greeted by a charming, kind, and calm man. He immediately understood my concerns and the rest of the fire fighting crew came to my rescue assessing the problem and finding the solution. They brought out the “ring cutter” and got to work. The ring was off in less than a minute. I should’ve went there from the start! They were so so so kind and loving. I am so glad these beautiful people are out protecting our community. Thank you so much.

Visited today 1/29/22 with my 4 year old daughter. The firefighters were welcoming and happy to show us their equipment and explain their jobs. Great experience with great people. Thank you all so much!
