Pre-K Academy at West Avenue

My grandsons are autistic and the patience and kindness this school has shown them is priceless. The entire staff from the moment we walk in to every teacher we pass in the hallway are welcoming.

By far, the best experience my child could have had! I love Pre-K Academy! I could have sent him anywhere in the district and I chose Pre-K Academy. Everyone knew my child by name and greeted him every morning. They had such great parent and teacher involvement and made you feel like such an important part of your child's education. He came in the middle of the year, for dual language, and learned so much! His teacher was excellent! It is the best place for every child to start out. I wish he could have stayed another year.

This is my son's first year at Pre K Academy. We've been pleased with his understanding of Spanish as well basic concepts. His teachers have been outstanding, the principal, counselor, and nurse have both been extremely helpful as well. The school librarian, admin staff, and Principal are all great. Great experience all around.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this school. My son is developing more each day. Prior to starting school he cried all the time and had behavior issues. Its only been a few weeks and he is like a new kid! All the staff I have met are wonderful and so nurturing. Drop off can be difficult but it is clear they are doing the best they can with the staff they have. I am so grateful for this school.

This is by far the best school ever, pre k is hard for some of us parents having to let go of our little ones into the real world but let me tell you, since the moment they are dropped off your child will be attended and greeted as they should. All the staff is amazing, my sons teachers are amazing Ms. Gonzalez and Ms Martinez. The principal, librarian, counselor, family specialist everyone is amazing and hands on always willing to help. I wish my son was able to stay longer ☹

We loved Pre-K Academy! There were so many enriching activities available for students, and there were also opportunities to explore outside of the classroom. Among these were the "Museum" rooms, the underwater adventure play center complete with pirate ships, the interactive library, the gardens, the mud kitchen, and other outdoor activities. There were also out of the ordinary experiences like Chef- a cooking class, where students got to have hands-on learning in creating and following their own recipes. Overall, the year our son spent at Pre-K Academy at West Avenue is incomparable to any other schools available for his age group. The fact that this school caters to just Pre-K students gave us as parents peace of mind that he was getting a stellar educational experience, specific to his individual needs as a 4-year-old.

My son was in the dual language program here and had the best experience. The Principal, teachers, and staff are so skilled. My son moved on to Kinder this year, but still asks if he can go back to Pre-k Academy and his teacher there. They are so lucky to have Mr. Kienlen as the principle. He is a skilled administrator and a kind person. At our current school, kids only sees the Principal or Vice-principal when they are in trouble. At Pre-K academy, the principal developed a rapport with the kids that was so positive. There is a ton of support, like Communities in Schools, and the facility is really nice. My son loved the library and the awesome playground. I liked that all the kids were the same age, and I could tell everyone, from KIN to the administrative staff, knew my kid.

My husband and I loved that my daughter was able to attend Pre-K Academy. My daughter was put into the best teacher possible for her, Mrs. Jimenez and Ms. Villasenor's class. With the pandemic shutting everything down, we knew she needed social skills since we didn't have church either so there was no other children for her to interact that were her own age. She was taught so much, from the process of worms to butterflies, learning about the process of a seedling growing into a plant, playing insrtruments like pots and pans in music, and an amazing field day and so many other expierences throughout the school year that helped her grow and open her mind way more than I had done in sitting and teacher her at home. When my daughter was not understanding how to play well with other Mrs. Matutes brought her into her classroom and taught her and a group of other girls how to be kind and play well together. This was one of the critical skills she needed because of the lack of the interaction with other children for two years. Truly the skill set that each adult has and demonstrated in working with our children was obvious at the end of the school year. My daughter was ready everyday for school and she absolutely hated missing class, whether we had to arrive late (due to a doctors appointment), or left early to join a KLRN program she only wanted to be with her classmates and in class with her teachers. She loved the KLRN programs offered and had so much fun receiving books, but especially the crafts created each week. The library was one of her favorite rooms and sitting in the little chairs, playing with Lego's, and the bricks. Everyday when she walked out of her classroom she jumped the hopscotch with fish and sea life. She also loved going into the Farm and Grocery store and pretended she was with me while I am shopping. She imitated her experience several times at the grocery store with me. Over all there wasn't anything that we didn't love! I will recommend this school to anyone and everyone who has a child elgible to attend. I wish that my child would have been able to start at 3 years old like the children for the 2022-2023 will get to do. Thank you for the experience.

I just love this school, we drive 9 miles to drop off my daughter everyday and we just love the staff, her teacher Mrs. Jimenez and Ms. Villasenor. She comes home talking about the things she learned and her new best friends. Mrs. Martinez has an amazing librarian with both English and Spanish books (my daughter is in the bilingual program. The school is specific to 4 year old's and it is decorated for them. From the hopping on the floor to the alphabet and the marine life to the shopping classrooms and outside mud area for the children to get in it and enjoy the earth. I can't say enough good things about how amazing this program is. We are so happy with the choice to have our little one attend such an amazing place. Everyday the principal Mr. Kienlen is out in the morning and afternoon welcoming the children and saying good bye. His front office staff is just as great. From the minute you want into the school to the moment you walk out you will see a great difference in how everyone makes our children their priority. With that said Mrs. Matutes is also a great counselor who sees a need and it there to help. Parents, don't take my word for it, take a tour and meet everyone you will be convinced this is the right place for your little one too.
