World's Largest Superman Statue

This was so cool! This little town was absolutely adorable! Although everything was closed on a Sunday except the Superman store.
I would have thought the coffee shop or food would have been open. There was a decent amount of people walking around looking for a place to sit and eat.

Just check the hours before you make that long drive for your visit to metropolis.

It's a pretty cool place if you grew up in the sixties and seventies, don't know about younger folks.

A fun stop to see the Home of Superman! Nice little gift shop/museum situated across the street from the statue. Great photo ops around town. A must see for any super hero fan.

This enormous Superman statue does not disappoint. If you're driving through the area, you definitely need to stop by and snap a couple of selfies with the Man of Steel. (Don't forget Lois Lane and the kryptonite rock too!)

What's not to love about a super sized superman? He even had a Santa hat on for the season. Cute little town square also, got a few final Christmas presents, good detour!

The store is cool, pretty much every shirt is about 25+, guy at counter was definitely ready to be off work and the museum (8.00 a ticket) was closed...it was 5:20, glad I stopped by got some cool picks and there is a Cafe down the block if hungry.

We ALWAYS enjoy going to see the Superman Statue and Our Close Friends that Own the Museum and their other store Rare Gems!! When you are in Southern Illinois at Metropolis, they would love for you to stop in!!

Super cool it is not advertised enough but thats probably a good thing. there is an adorable town down the main strip and what i think is a casino on the water. You could probably have a nice family weekend in this town. worth a couple of hour drive.

Short drive off the interstate, great place to stretch your legs and take a few pictures. Kids loved it, smiles all around.

This is a great small town to visit for a day trip or overnight. The Theme for city is awesome. If you love the small town feel this is a great place to stop and site see. There is also an inexpensive museum across the street from the Statue .

Fun little clean town with several photo ops Superman is in great shape, there's also Big Boy, Lois Lane, the Daily planet, criptonite, and several beautiful and cool murals. A Superman store also!! Stop and have some fun!!

I wish an investor would swoop in and renovate the closed down movie theater and show all the Superman movies and cartoons … They could also renovate one of the closed down building in downtown and turn it into an arcade center like Galloping Ghost

Really nice little town … We will definitely walk around here again if we ever find ourselves in Metropolis, Illinois again

Did you even really make a trip to Metropolis if you didn’t take the time to go see the Superman statue?! ;)

I make it a point to stop and see Superman every time I make the trip to Metropolis- this has been a tradition since I was a kid.

While you’re at the statue, make sure to take the time to check out the Super Museum and Shop right across from Superman. You won’t be disappointed :)

Cool place to stop by and snap some photos with the kids. Go by the visitor center across the street, the man is very nice there and there is some merchandise you can browse through as well as restrooms and photo booths you can take pics in. Then, go by the fort massac state park!

Easy to find I the middle of the town. A cool place to stretch on your road trip. It felt completely safe in the area. Stop off the highway for gas or maybe the dispensary and make the extra mile or so drive just to say you did. I'm not even a Superman nerd and I'm glad I made the stop. Kids of all ages would enjoy.

Visited right before the wind took his head!! Kitchy fun! A must see on the way to where ever you're headed! The little town is adorable. Stop in the souvenir shop...beware of the kriptonite!
