Interstate Rest Area

A very pretty place to stop & rest awhile to take a break from driving. There is lots of parking, clean bathrooms & a large picnic area with large pretty trees for shade. There is a gorgeous little creek that runs through it & the fall colors are beautiful in October!

Staffed rest area with clean restrooms, vending machines, picnic tables, a small playground, and walking paths. Good for kids. Very popular for pet owners.

Not just a rest area but a museum and great park as well, with a camping area. Lots of trails to walk. The museum is not big but fun and insightful to the area history. Also there is a nice reconstructed of Fort Massiac that is unfortunately closed at this point but well hopefully reopen in the near future.

Clean restrooms and large area with playground. Quick stop on our way to Yellowstone National Park.

This is a surprisingly nice spot for a quick stop. It is nicely laid out. Offers a pleasant walking path and shaded picnic tables. The bathrooms are clean and there is a nice array of vended goods.

Clean, easy to access parking for moving truck with car carrier. A little more road noise, than previous site.

While at this site, a trucker, CHRISTIAN aka Chris, parked next to my rig and pointed out that the car carrier mesh on the front passenger side of the vehicle had fallen off, meaning the car could fly off the carrier in-route! I called Penske to report, since the carrier was insured. Asked to order a second repair of the web mesh on the opposite side of the vehicle as the prior had been on the driver's side, SAME PROBLEM. Penske told me it would be ok to let Chris, the Trucker who had offered his experienced help to fix the problem. It was Memorial Day Weekend and lots of rental trucks were calling in with repair orders and other issues. Chris went to work and repaired the issue, assuring me to complete my 3006 mile journey from Coastal North Carolina to NW Oregon, safely. Thank you to Chris! and the provision of the roadside rest area along the journey. Best adventure ever!

Very nice rest areas on the main highway. They’re all nice and clean well-maintained nice bathrooms and good little areas. Some have even picnic tables.

Wonderful rest stop! Beautiful area with many shaded spots for parking. Lots of trees and grass to walk around (especially good for pups) and a stream that runs through middle (unfortunately at the time I am here it is pretty dry but I am sure when the area has enough rain it's a gorgeous feature!). Clean facility with a lot of options for vending machines. Very safe and well maintained. Thank you to everyone that is involved in maintaining and making it an available space to take a nice rest!

Always clean, bathrooms too. Good selection in the vending machine. Nice grounds. Even a few picnic tables out there. Nice dog walk there as well...

I am always looking for rest stops. It seems that there is more in the north land than the south.
I didn't see any map on the wall. Maybe it was in a different building?

Great place to stop on a long day and drive safe and clean and talked to several staff members and they're helpful and friendly 😁!!!

We have stayed at this rest area several times. If your a truck driver the parking spots are tight. But the bathrooms are clean, they smell good and the staff working are super friendly.

They have multiple vending machines (bring cash and don’t be surprised if you get back gold dollars). The vending machines have a great selection of drinks and snacks and prices are pretty on par with a gas station. The hot coffee was pretty good I got a French vanilla mocha it was sweet but I thought it was actually better than a couple of gas stations I’ve stopped at so that was a plus. Overall great experience every time we stop.

Well this was fun! This was an unexpected fun thing to do. While stopping at an Interstate Rest Stop off of I-24 in Metropolis Illinois, the town of Metropolis is known as the home of “Superman”. There is also a statue somewhere in town, but we were only making a quick stop.

The restrooms in the rest area were very clean. We picked a good place to stop. My husband had to take a picture with the Superman statue.

Nice clean facility, nice little walk path to loose up your legs after driving a couple hundred miles.
