Mackinaw River State Fish and Wildlife Area

The DNR Canoe landing is a great place to park your car for kayaking, fishing, tubing or hammocking.

Visited the area on a very hot summer day. Beautiful clear creek and very nice setting. Great for kayaking and fishing. Very clear water so be prepared with the correct tackle.

First hike of the year so did the short trail. Most of in the woods. Was enjoyable!

Awesome spot! Just love the river!

I visited the kayak launch for the first time mainly to familiarize myself with it and the river. There are two grooves available to slide your boat into the water, both looked very effective. The water was actually moving a little quicker than I expected as I observed from the bank. More volume than I expected too. I hiked along the river a bit and came across a sand bar type area where I discovered sizable clam shells. I didn't know river clams were a thing.

Beautiful place. An un tapped resource.

Recommend this for anyone who loves outdoors. Me and my friends are constantly on the river floating and enjoying the sun!! Also great for fishing if you enjoy that as well. With storm seasons would recommend calling first before making the trip out there to make sure water isnt too high. Can sometimes be dangerous, personally know a few who have unfortunately not made it out okay if at all because of weather and conditions. So always go with a group and NEVER alone and make sure its safe. Always. Better to be safe than sorry. But would recommend ro anyone I know

I live next to it.A great place to hike and in general just root around. Walk in the path of the Native Americans that lived and hunted in this area.Use your Imagination. This is a beautiful place.

What's not to like about "The Mac"? I love this little river. Like the sandbags pit stops. The eagles that are nesting make for a great sight!! Everything about this place is great.

Nice place... Grassy or gravel walking paths which run beside soy or corn fields, or tree-shaded streams.

Ever go fishing on a hot summer day? Sitting on a log then the log rolled away. With your hands in your pockets and your pockets in your pants. Watching the fishies do the hoochie coochie dance?

I've only been on it a couple of times but it's a great River to kayak and it's close to where I live.

Easy to put in but difficult at the exit point

Great place. Can flood pretty bad so stay away and get out of the water during flash flood warnings

We've canoed here a few times with friends and had a blast! Can't wait for spring.
