Did it a little different this year. Had Brunch at the Union in Portland and….Oh my….absolutely amazing !!!!
Eggs Benny for me and a hash brown casserole for the rest which I will definitely order next time.
Our Server, Peter, was fantastic. I would totally ask for him again.

Stopped at Union restaurant for lunch on a drive to Acadia national park. The restaurant is located in the very hip Press Hotel. My group and I really like the restaurant vibe and food! I had the “jump start” drink which had apple cider, turmeric, ginger and other healthy ingredients…surprisingly refreshing and not bitter! I had the grain bowl for lunch which was a healthy option that was really good! My husband really enjoyed the fish and chips! The col slaw was also very unique and great tasting. My friend really enjoyed the ham & cheese. Lunch scene on a Tuesday was good! Many filled tables. Would recommend it!

We had breakfast and dinner during a recent stay. Both were very good. We enjoyed sampling/sharing small plates for dinner. The photo is breakfast (avocado toast with lobster; shakshuka). Great location, food, and staff.

Our bartender Alana was amazing! The drinks were fabulous. Full bar and she didn't miss a beat. Continuously worked with a smile and was very pleasant. Will go back for sure.

We had dinner reservations before a show at the Merrill. Traffic suggested we would be late. I called to let them know and the woman on the phone, perhaps a recent immigrant, couldn’t have been kinder or more reassuring! We arrived to find the dining room was being refurbished and the lobby had been transformed into the dining area. An additional distance from the kitchen, the wait staff was HUSTLING! It was wonderful to observe their camaraderie and assisting each other during the pre-show rush. Our server, Hannah, could not have been kinder or more accommodating! The food was wonderful in its presentation and even better in its taste. My husband had the seafood (Cod) special and I enjoyed the scallops! Everything about the experience was perfect!

My husband and I took an impromptu trip to Portland, Maine during Memorial Day weekend 2023. We drove from Northern New Hampshire. We did not have reservations, but the hostess graciously seated us as they had a cancellation. My husband and I had burgers and waffle chips. I tried a stout, which had a hint of chocolate in it. Very tasty! Our waiter was attentive and friendly. Overall, we had a very positive experience at this restaurant.

This is hands down one of the most amazing restaurants we have ever been to! From the phenomenal food, to the best customer service from EVERY single person you encounter there. I assure you, you will not leave disappointed. We booked a five course chef tasting after having gone to this restaurant our first night there and falling in love with our first meals of the trip, and again left feeling so satisfied and overall thrilled with our experience.

Every person that works there is so incredibly friendly, the bartender Josh & the chef’s in charge of cooking our meals were both extremely kind and very knowledgeable and informative about everything we were eating . They all work as an amazing team to communicate and give you the best possible experience you can have. Chef Nikkol & staff will without a doubt leave a lasting impression on you making it impossible to not visit often. HIGHLY recommend if you’re in the area.

I visited UNION 3 times in one week. Why? Because above everything else the food is amazing, unique and high quality. Every dish surprised me... in a good way. The service is on par with what you would expect at this price point and the interior design complimented the ambiance of the hotel very well. Definitely set the bar high for my Portland culinary experiences.

Hidden gem in New England. The same quality of food would have cost you $300+ in New York. Definitely worth a trip. Their steak is cooked perfectly. Other appetizers are also quite decent. Definitely check this place out if you end up in Portland Maine.

Second time here and it didn’t disappoint either time. Food was delicious. Shared the French toast and Winter hash…so good. Also loved the design!

Its amazing we chose this place by just googeling and the reviews it got. Visiting Portland for the first time, we wanted local cuisine and this is the place.
Its located inside the Press hotel, is
farm to table, and the chef has bee hives on rooftop where he harvests honey daily.

The menu was very enticing, hard to choose. You have to try The Everything Gold cocktail- a perfect blend of turmeric, ginger and honey finished with a touch of gold. Then we had the local oysters with pickled blueberries( who knew?), panzanella salad, and Marinated Tuna poke. For entrees- Maine lobster paella and Seared hanger steak. Finished with Blueberry Napolean, Affogato, yes- too much but worth stuffing yourself for. All were beautifully presented and a real delight, delicious and local.

Everyone from our server, to other staff were super nice, helpful and did a very good job maintaining Covid measures.

We will definitely come back when in Portland again but I will recommend to all!! Thank you to wonderful chef and staff.

The food and ambiance were top notch. The bread was super fresh, salad was delicious, had the special for dinner (Halibut) and it was phenomenal… and the pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. Truly a great experience and will be back!

Valentine's day dinner with my partner was absolutely wonderful thanks to the staff at Union. Our waitress, while busy attending to the myriad other guests, was polite, offered great input on drinks as well as meals, and she was prompt. The open kitchen behind us made the experience even more enjoyable, as we got to watch the team work and determination behind what was some of the best pork shank I have ever had. The honey they paired both with the cheese board and my meal came from bees they keep on their rooftop! My partners Hake and Clams were flavorful and beautifully prepared. We finished off with the whipped cheesecake, which despite our full bellies was just light enough to hit the spot without overdoing it. My drink, titled everything gold, was by far the most well balanced gin cocktail I have ever had - I'm not much for the bitter aftertaste and it was not to be found. All in all an absolutely incredible evening. Should you be so inclined to trust my humble but loud opinion, after your dining experience, it's not a terrible idea to poke around the art exhibits the have on display. We will definitely be going back.

As of this writing we are living in high stress times esp the hospitality workers. You would not have know that at Union where the server (bartender) made the meal. Friendly with attentive service particularly on finding the perfect cocktail was appreciated and earned the fifth star. The hanger steak with polenta and mushrooms was properly cooked and filling. Overall, a great meal and atmosphere at Union.

The service and food is always exquisite, and they often have a vegan entree option on their menu (call ahead as the menu changes seasonally). We love going when the menu changes and there’s a new plant based meal to try.

You’ll find the Union Restaurant inside the upscale Press Hotel. Just like the Press does not disappoint you can expect the same from Union. We just went for our third time and had some of the best food we have tried here. My fiancée and I made our visit here last year to celebrate our engagement. This year we returned to celebrate our anniversary of that! The atmosphere and overall ambiance/vibe is perfect for a date night dinner or even just a gathering of friends for drinks/food. It has the upscale feel without being overly pretentious. Firstly we started with the cider braised pork belly (if it’s on the menu then do yourself a favor and order it to try). Secondly my fiancée got the duck breast entree and I got the pork shoulder pasta entree. Both were phenomenal and would be instant choices if they appear next time we come in. The duck entree was on the smaller side but oooooo so tasty! Finally we finished with a apple/cranberry tartlet and a chocolate/hazelnut to split both as desserts. The prices are higher than some other spots but for what the dishes are and what this place is the prices are what I’d expect. The only questionable pricing was the market price of the 28oz porterhouse for $129 considering last year they had a 38oz for around $125. Besides that I would say this is a must try spot in the crowded/ever growing Portland food scene.

Great food! The service was wonderful. I went for brunch with my friend and we really enjoyed ourselves.

The food here is amazing. Chef was a nominee for a James beard. Bartenders are super friendly (Meridith and charlotte) who made the dinner a 5 star. The drinks are on point. Had the cod and lobster entree. Both were super flavorful and unique to its own. I definitely recommend this place for dinner.

Booked dinner here for my bestie’s bachelorette and it was perfect! Staff was friendly and attentive, ambiance felt “special occasion” but not stuffy or pretentious. All of the food was absolutely delicious and everyone left happy and full. Highly recommend!

Vegan and vegetarian options that aren't just a salad or veggie burger! The service and atmosphere were just perfect.
Pictured is seared tempeh with bok choy and roasted potatoes in a spicy red curry sauce. Best tempeh I ever had and super filling!
