Reedsburg Dam State Forest Campground

We visit at least once a year! Great rustic camping with several, relatively clean, vaulted restrooms strategically located throughout the campground area. Wonderful views of the flooded Muskegon river above the dam. Cross the dam to embark on a visually rewarding adventure. If you're quiet and looking, you may catch a glimpse of the teeming wildlife that resides there....including bald eagles. My children caught so many fish and crawfish during our short camping trip! We LOVE to explore the dam itself! Hanging out under the waterfalls is one of my kid's favorite pass times... As well as mine! They're starting repairs on the Dam. So it was important for us to visit before they drain above the dam. Can't wait to come back in October to view the changes in water level!

We really enjoyed our time at Reedsburg Campground. The camping spots are well-kept and rustic with nice fire pits and a table at each site. There is also water access, several dumpsters and outhouses thoughout. The sites were spaced nicely with plenty of room for tents and small campers while still feeling like you were in nature. There were people that squeezed over-sized campers in the spots too, but there wasn't much space after the camper was parked. The dam was a short walk and we'll maintained. Lots of people fishing everyday. We even swam in the river downstream of the dam and it was warm and clean.

Our only complaint was that some campers ran their generator all day long and it seemed rude and inconsiderate to those around them.

Many years ago my father and my brother and friends would come up here for the weekend. Such a beautiful sight with your coffee looking over the water and watching the sunrise. The birds over the lake sound so pretty and let you connect with nature a while. I'll have to come back up sometime soon.

I am very easily amused on vacation, and I enjoyed this area. The dam was not much to speak of but the campground was fantastic. No electrical hook ups, but was not crowded at all.

Very nice place to relax and enjoy the day fishing. Was our first time there the kids enjoyed fishing off of the damn. They caught a few blue gill some cat fish and a small mouth bass. Will definitely go there again. Planning another family trip next year

Great fishing and beautiful view

All primitive sites, inexpensive and right on Am flooding. I visited it this fall and I'll be coming back in the summer.

Peaceful

Great campground. 13$ a night. No electric, pump water, vault toilets. Beautiful scenery and campsites, great for a picnic, fishing, canoeing, swimming, etc.

Very scenic rustic camping.. Toilets available and fire pits. Located near a damn which gives access to fishing and wading.
Plan to bring a tent or camper and all the gear you need. Lake good for a canoe or small boat.

Primitive sites, Deadstream is a piece of Michigan Sportsman's Heritage in my personal opinion. I love the flooding and the stories that go along with it so hence, the campground is very appealing with the dam and the bridge to the woods there. It is a beautiful place and I will soon be camping and spending more time there. Pure Michigan!

My favorite place to be, lots of great memories with my family!
If you want crystal clear city water, electricity and pretty bathroom's this place is NOT for you!
But if this is your type of camping I highly recommend going there!

We camp here for my birthday every year. This is a some what quiet place to camp. Very rustic. Right on the Reedsburg Dam. Every site has a great view of the water and you are only 15 minutes from Houghton lake.

My favorite rustic campground in Michigan. Great fishing and nice camp sites. Large and generally well kept. New boat launch this past year, although the parking area is still rather small for those not camping. Swimming and fishing, hiking and limited boating (impoundment has hundreds of dead heads and dark water so boats and props can be damaged if you're not careful).
Annual crayfish boil in the summer to rid the area of invasive rusty crayfish. Good food and great company. Put on by members of the Michigan Sportsman's group.

Havent been in years. Love the dam waterfalls. So fun running there to shoot mortars at nite run to tent wait 4 dnr to pass so we could pissem off again🤣

Always a great camp ground.
