Had a great time hanging out at Baker's. This place has been here forever, and although the decor really shows and they're in dire need of a remodel, I'm not so sure it's the thing to do.

Went to see a friend's band play, "Lorenzo Rhode's Quintet, and they hit all the right notes. Especially the smooth bass player.

They're serving up good old- fashioned soul food here. The waiters are cool, efficient and very good. I had the Ocean Perch Meal with Collard Greens and Black-eyed Peas. Be careful of that red bottle sitting on the table. It's not ketchup. It's hot sauce, and it sure does come in handy. Spices it up. Even though the food is darn good already.

Drinks are strong. It's a good thing. We all like that.

So whether you're there for the entertainment, the food or just to check out those keys on the iconic piano bar while having a drink, you'll be glad you paid that $10 cover after stepping in through those glass doors to hang out at Baker's Keyboard Lounge.

We had an outstanding experience at Bakers. We celebrated a birthday there with a delicious soul food dinner and outstanding live entertainment. The jazz trio were true professionals and played to a mature crowd and tons of tourists.
Staff was friendly and very accommodating. The parking is next door with an on-site guard.

Only Con: cocktails have great names like the Nina Simone and Dizzy Gillespie, however, they are underwhelming... very watery and bland. Maybe order beer or bottle of wine.

You need to visit this historic Detroit hot spot a few times a year! This place is legendary! Very enjoyable for all ages.

I've been coming to Baker's since the fall 1974. My 1st. roommate at EMU was Ron Freeman, who lived close by on Mendota. We saw Earl Klug that night, I never come to the D without a stop. Love this place

Visted here, for the first time, with my gals when my friend was performing with 3 other people (quartet).

Edit:

They charge $3 for parking and $10 for the cover fee.

The atmosphere seems a bit old school, which I adored (considering it opened in the 1930s), it was a tad busy, but our waitress was sweet and did her job well, the food was incredible, and the prices were even better- there was a lot of food I got for 13 bucks.

Overall experience: 10/10. I'd totally recommend this place to jazz lovers, old school folks, and as a date spot. Definetly coming back!

First time out for live music in 15 months and it was fabulous! Baker's is the oldest well known jazz club in Michigan. Very intimate. Every popular artist has come for a sit-in. The food was great. Cover is high but the artist made it worth it.

Sunday Brunch Fish & Grits was very good. The Gospel choir great voices no microphone was needed to loud for small place. That choir has voices for a large cathedral. Otherwise perfect.

Food-fabulous. Service pretty bad. Music and atmosphere-amazing. If you keep your service expectations low (read REALLY LOW) you will be delighted with everything else!

It was five years ago that I was here, but the experience was one that I'll always appreciate and never forget. The entertainment was impressive. The food was delicious. Also, I really enjoyed the atmosphere as well!

The performers were true professionals. It was very inspiring on a creative level. This was some of the best entertainment you could see live, in my opinion.

A fun time was had by all. We were both celebrating our birthday. The music was a lot old school but it was fun. The food choices were limited.

Always a treat!! The atmosphere and music is always great. Don't show up too ravenous, because the staff is never in a rush. Be prepared for things to run at a chill pace. Four of us went last Thursday, we had to wait a really long time to order and receive our dinners. All of our main dishes were delicious, but a couple of our sides came out cold. Renee King Jackson and friends performed that night, and they were wonderful. She was amazing. We will definitely be coming again to see them.

We went there to celebrate my sister's birthday. They had a little bear and balloons waiting for her when we arrived. The waitress was friendly and engaging. She was patient when the rest of our group hadn't arrived yet. The food was good. The Ralphe Armstrong Trio was fabulous. Thanks Baker's for a wonderful time.
