Golden Chow Mein Restaurant

Loved the food. Best eggrolls I have ever head. And the wonton soup was so comforting on a cold wet day. The women who took my order and rang me out was friendly. She was very thankful for my business and when I paid and tipped in cash she gave me a chocolate truffle as a thank you. I will be returning to the place to try more food. The inside of the restaurant could use a little work in my opinion and I should have asked for the prices and receipt but it wasn’t a big deal for a small first time order

It's Golden! The best Chow Mein and Egg Fu Yung I have had in years. Reminds me of the neighborhood place we would frequent in Minneapolis. Reasonable prices, great food. Go! Eat! The Lady at the counter said they have been there 35 years. The menu and decor suggest it is the same as it was 35 years ago, which adds to the Old School vibe/charm of this place.

This is absolutely our new favorite spot for take-out. We love the fried rice and the sweet + sour/orange/sesame chicken! The Cantonese chow mein is definitely worth a try too!

Tried Golden Chow Mein for the first time this week and I was amazed. This is easily the best Chinese food in St Paul that I've had. Ma and Pa/Family restaurant with quality ingredients and simple yet absolutely delicious recipes. From the apps to the chow mein to the fried rice to the stir fry dishes, this is delicious and I can't wait to order again.

Grabbed takeout here tonight for the first time. The food was excellent! Super fresh. Heads and Shoulders above our usual spot.

Amazing service! The lady who helped me made sure I would have enough food to feed everyone. She also triple checked my bag to make sure everything was there. The food was amazing and there was lots of it. The price was very fair as well! If I could give more than 5 stars I would!

Amazing food, generous portions, and the woman at the counter may have the most bubbly and sunshiney personality I have ever had the joy of encountering :-) what a nice restaurant!

Covid killed the indoor portion of their restaurant and they are take-out only now. However, best damned lo mein in the city!

This place is a great place, and by far the most consistent restaurant I have ever been to. I have been going there for 35 years, and the food is great and tastes exactly the same now as it did back then. A great neighborhood gem!

Literally get a huge food of insanely good Chinese food for like 7-8 bucks

The food is pretty good and it's reasonably priced,only draw back you can only take out.
Dining area is closed off, I'm guessing because of Covid or just way under staffed.

A great St. Paul find along Seventh Street. Golden Chow Mein is old school Chinese restaurant with made to order food that is simply delicious and flavorful. While the dining room is sparse the price is right. I will definitely be back!

I used to work at Amazon distributing out packages and come here on my lunch break Food is really good This spot reminds me of the 80s 90s & early 2000s

The owner is so amazing and the food is so delicious. And I would challenge anyone to find better quality food at a lower price. I'm in love with this restaurant!

Ordered from Golden Chow Mein for the first time yesterday and I was totally blown away. The woman on the phone was patient, efficient, and even offered to give me directions on how to get there.

When I arrived, she fussed over whether I'd have enough food, enough fortune cookies, enough soy sauce. I definitely felt cared for beyond what is expected for take-out. She was incredibly gracious.

Now, about the food--it was insanely good. We got chicken fried rice, chicken lo mein, and sweet and sour shrimp. It was the perfect amount of food for two people, and I don't think I'll ever go anywhere else in St. Paul for Chinese food!

We've been coming here for years, ever since we moved to st paul. We've never been disappointed, and are so grateful and thankful they've been able to keep their doors open during the pandemic. The food is DELICIOUS. I've had several items from the menu and everything is so good.

I wish they'd open up indoor seating again, but I understand it's difficult getting help. It hasn't stopped us from going there though!

Man, I'm bummed I could have been eating at this spot for all the decades I've lived in St. Paul. I just didn't know. But I found it now! Delicious food, very nice people running the place. Please support if you've got a hankering for some classic Chinese takeout. I think the food is a step above similar spots in the area.

Great Chow Mein!!! Whenever my bro comes into town, this is his absolute must-have on the west end!!!

Fast service, typical Chinese food, which is nothing exciting, but nothing that will catch you off guard. Can always find something you'll enjoy, friendly atmosphere, the lady at the front is awesome, and if you go there a few times she'll even remember you.
