A great hiking, walking, mountain biking and possibly a good cross country skiing system of trails! I didn't notice any mosquitoes or biting insects. Quite a few side trails. You may see a train go by at the parking area. Entrance is right next to the railroad bridge.
I recommend bringing water, comfortable walking or hiking shoes, bug repellent and sunscreen. A hat would be great. If you bring a 🐕, you are required to take the droppings with you. The main trail could be difficult for the feet for 🐕 s because of the rocks. You may want to hike first before you bring Fido.
Baby strollers that are designed for trails I would recommend.
I look forward to walking in the fall foliage. Parking is free.
Update: Sunday morning 🌅, December 2020; Wanted a place that was quiet to park, drink my coffee ☕ and read my newspaper 🗞. Quite a few cars and people walking in. Trail is popular all through the year.

Great trails!!!! Features rocks, bridges, streams, and more! So many trails to choose from!! Make sure you bring a map! All dogs MUST BE LEASHED! Clean up after your pup, poop bag dispenser at Oaklands parking lot. Skill levels vary from easy to mostly moderate! Trails are used for hiking and mountain biking

Henderson -Swasey forest is an incredible place to go for a walk. The trails are large, well maintained and go on for miles. There are trails for everyone so pick your distance and difficulty. Just make sure to keep your eyes and ears peeled for cyclists.

This is a great hiking spot and also a small bouldering area. There a several obvious lines and lots of unknown scrubbing to be done.

It is such a beautiful forest! Amazing trails and doesn't take too long either. The nature is wonderful and the huge boulders and signs of the first settlements here too. And if you believe in bigfoot, there is a lot of sign there. I Guarantee he has been there or lives there somewhere!!😊🏞 the trails are also great for biking too but you'll need a mountain bike tho 🚵‍♀🚴‍♂🧘‍♀🚶‍♀✨💟🕊🦉🐸🦋🐛🐞🦗🌸🌺🌿🌲🌳🌾🍃🌱🍂🦟

Fort rock is a great place to mountain bike, hike, or just take a walk with your dog. I mountain bike here and I absolutely love it. They have some cool jumps, drops, skinnys, tech, flow, downhill and uphill. It's really fun and I definitely recommend coming here to ride, hike, or walk.

A wonderful and well maintained trail system. The water was crystal clear and there were neat mushrooms everywhere. Although it can be a little muddy after a heavy rain, the trail is well worth a little mud. This trail shows off a quintessential Maine forest!

Beautiful trails, dog friendly, amazing scenery. Not a lot of parking, but its normally quiet. Dont bring a lowered car though. There is a big dip where you turn off the road and most small cars wont clear it

Love love love these trails! The parking lots may be packed but you'll rarely cross paths with anyone while in there because there are acres and acres of well groomed, well marked trails. Can't wait to see what winter brings ❄

Some of the best MTB trails on the seacoast. Do you like rocks and roots and bridges over swampy water? Well buddy this is your new favorite riding spot. No big climbs, so that is not cool. I suppose you could ride the smaller hills a few times in a row? Yeah, that would do it. Park at the railroad lot, not the other smaller lot on Rt.85 unless you want some "attention".

We loved it. The large hand built wall is a marvel, and the variety of views in the woods and the extent if the trails is fabulous. Such a wonderful option for local nature lovers!

Nice place for a short hike or maybe an hour or so. Took our dogs here and had a pretty nice morning walk. Wasn't buggy when we were there and trails were interesting enough.

My grandparents donated 152 acres of forest to the Town of Exeter in 1973 to create this public asset. It warms my heart as I'm sure it would have warmed theirs to read that people find peace, recreation, exercise and fun in the woodlands. Enjoy.
