I had not been to Heid's in 17 years. Moved out of state & just got back to visit family. It did not disappoint. I had a Coney hot with onions and fried onions. Fast service and great tasting food.

My 1st visit to Heid’s, the hotdogs have a taste like no other. I tried both the frank and the snappy and they were both equally delicious. It was a 420 mile round trip but well worth the ride. As others have said it is a bit pricey but everything is now a days. Definitely try the Churros!

It has been many, many years since I was last here. Heid’s did not disappoint me. I love the Hofmann Snappys.it is amazing how much they have expanded with another building for ice cream, and an outside dog (as in hotdogs:)) booth. They even have vette meets and live music during the summer.

We come here every time we visit Central NY, as much for nostalgia as the hot dogs. Heid’s is the hot dog stand that many locals, including my wife, grew up on. There are two choices - traditional and a brat style “snappy” that is also referred to as a coney. Either choice is excellent. The dogs are hot off of the grill, served on a melt-in-your-mouth New England style hot dog bun, and topped with a nice selection of self-serve condiments including their a own brown mustard. This is the place where I learned to love hot dogs paired with chocolate milk.

Pricey but good. It’s been here a long time and the line is always long. Nice outdoor seating area. Texas hot style dog is great. Just wish they didn’t charge for sauerkraut!

Wow, just wow. The Gianelli Italian Sausage was nothing short of incredible. In business since 1917, there's no wonder why. Great food, great service and a nice atmosphere.

I'm in Syracuse visiting family (I live in North Carolina), and we stopped at Heid's for a quick bite. This is a regular spot for my brother and sister in law; I'm glad they recommended it!
Nice local hole in the wall kind of diner, I had a NY style dog, a Gianelli sausage, fries, and motz sticks with marinara. Overall the food was fantastic, and the service was fast and friendly, I highly recommend Heid's!!

I'm in town for work and saw this place on roadfood and decided to try it out.

If you're not a regular, can I give you some advice. Get the special. And do one and one so you can try both kinds of dogs. Their mustard is phenomenal. I got kraut but only put it on one of them to taste the other natural. The fries are fine. Could use more salt and more time in the fryer but they are in service to the hot dogs.

Once you have your food, don't eat it there. It's totally fine there but what you want to do is go across the street and sit at a picnic table on the edge of the lake and eat. Your mediocre day will become a good one instantaneously. I promise.

Truly historical...including the taste.of their simplified menu...returened after 40 years and nothing has changed in terms of taste, quality and atmosphere

My favorite place to go when I visit Home.
Before you ever leave upstate you have to visit here. One favorite is getting a hot dog and coney inside of one bun. It’s delicious! Also the fries with cheese are yummy too. And there’s an ice cream building in the same parking lot. They used to have drive in movies here years ago. I wish they would bring that back.

Amazing that a simple hot dog shop can stay in business through world wars and Covid.

I tried a texas hot Hofmann Frank and the snappy. Both melted in your mouth and were delicious! Colleagues had the Phillies and were impressed.

Was fast enough for a quick lunch.

When you pull into Heid's parking lot from Onondaga Parkway, you're greeted by a sign on the side of their 1939 Art Deco building stating that they serve "Food You'll Like". They fulfill that promise by offering delicious comfort foods such as Hofmann's franks and coneys, Gianelli sausage, Philly cheesesteak and grilled cheese sandwiches, and chicken tenders. Sides include french fries and onion rings. And, what could be more nostalgic than an individual milk-bottle-shaped container of Byrne Dairy chocolate or strawberry milk to wash it all down. This is one of Syracuse's enduring and beloved landmark restaurants (like The Varsity on Marshall Street). If you haven't visited Heid's yet, February is a great time to do so because they offer two Hofmann hots for the price of one. If you visit in the summer, enjoy the covered outdoor dining area.

Husband’s “ treat” stop while growing up in the local area.
Definitely worth the stop.
Feasted on Hoffmans frank + fried pickles + a LaBatts brew. Brown mustard - whoa! good! Fried pickles a little too salty for my taste buds.
Line moves fast.

It is a great place with a long history. The food is always good, and the service is top-notch. A long time Liverpool tradition that we always try to catch when we come back to visit family.

Always jam-packed but always worth it. I made the mistake of bringing my two young children, at their request, for lunch recently. In all of the hustle and bustle, I managed to forget their favorite winter hats after we ate. I reached out the next day, and though they had a line winding outside the door, the staff managed to make time for me to track down these hats and save the day for my kids.

The Philly cheese-steak was amazing and so were the fries. The prices were great and the service as well atmosphere was like an 80s diner vibe but I liked it. Only thing I'd change was take out some booths and put some tables and chairs in.

Went to a 90th Birthday party at Heids. Staff went over the top to provide a great time. The weiners were great and so was the Ice cream!

If you have a liking for all things Hot Dogs, you must eat here. Hides is a local landmark for those who want the best hot dogs and Coney dogs in the world. The hot dogs are nice and snappy use the spicy brown mustard, it compliments the hot dog well. The Coney does not need anything it is silky and spicy with an excellent snap when bitten into. Beer on tap is good, and they had a nice selection of lagers available. Prices are very good, and service is very good. My only complaint would be the bun, I wish they would invest in a better bun or roll for the dogs, otherwise perfection.

If you want a dog, then this is the place. No nonsense. Cafeteria style setup. Order your dog and move on down the line. Mustard, relish (sweet or dill), onions, and ketchup (if you’re in to that) is available to dress your own dog. I got some fried pickles as well.
