A nice several hundred acre park with easy well marked trails. It is one of the Geauga County Metroparks although almost in Lake County. It's about a 45 minute drive from Cleveland.

Great park for hiking as the trails are mostly in the woods. You can get a little bit of a cardio workout since you will be going up and down some inclines as there are many natural ravines throughout the woods. The hemlocks trail is one of my favorites. I recommend doing that trail in a clockwise direction so you go down the steep sets of steps rather than climbing up them. The wildflowers trail also has some steps, and while those don't have any handrails they aren't very steep and look like they have recently been redone so they are in good condition. Overall, the trails were in good condition although you have to watch out for tree roots.

The park has some nice rental facilities including the Deep Woods Lodge which is located at the edge of the woods next to a parking lot and looked really beautiful and modern. There are also a couple lean-to areas for camping and one really nice modern cabin that is sort of a treehouse design. The park also has some bike trails and a couple ponds. The Meyer Center building has paper trail maps available which can be helpful as many of the trails are connected to each other and can be a little confusing.

If you are headed to the park from Clark Road, just be aware that the first half mile or so of Robinson Road is in pretty rough shape and you will need to go slowly and dodge a lot of chuck holes, but the road then becomes very smooth to the park entrance.

Fun challenging hiking with rustic views and capable for a 6 year old and old man.
Love the trillium trail I'd about 1 mile. We did a side hike up the white oak trail.

Review is for lean-to camp sites: vault toilets were decent, structures were sturdy, weatherproof and cozy. Nearby pavilion and playground were clean and well maintained. we camped with dogs and everyone who hikes through had their dogs leashed so we had no troubles.

Stayed at the treehouse campsite. Had a great time hiking the trails and camping out. Staff was amazing and Ranger was very cool.

This is a very nice park. The restrooms are separate from the shelters / lodges but are well maintained. The trails are not paved and can be quite hilly. The lodge is a very nice facility

Accessable trails, asphalt, dirt and board walk. Not too hilly. Good for walking and running. Different length of trail. Dirt bike trail for kids. Climbing rock.

Definitely loved this remote site E "treehouse" its a short hike in, MUST bring a wagon to bring gear in or have firewood bundled, or backpack. The metropark itself is small and has a few very short trails, but the day trips from the treehouse are numerous if you want to get some miles on the boots.

Cool lightly trafficked park with nice paved/gravel trails not muddy and plenty of parking! More than enough trails to make a day out of and some cool scenery makes this a place ill certainly return to!

Nice Geauga county park, most of the buildings are closed right now. Three park has some reservable shelters and camping sites. Lots of trails to hike and explore.

Great place for short walks with mostly moderate or easy difficulty trails, many of them looping back for easy navigation.

Used to be a private community with a club house, on the lake. Now its a Geauga Park and part of its a nature preserve. Lots of rules compared to the past. No more club house, but a cabin like structure with fire place and toilets near by. Lake is beautiful all year round.

Amazing place to hike! There are lots of trails ranging in length, although keep in mind that in the winter It may be difficult to walk on the trails due to the amount of snow. The lodge is a great place for gatherings and is very spacious!

Our family has been coming to Big Creek for over 40 years and have never had a bad experience! Every picnic area is always ready, the rest rooms are always clean. The trails are great and offer a variety of difficulty from families with small children to families with older kids to empty nesters just out for a stroll. A great little park!
