Love this place because it reminds me of a bygone Era. It's very rustic, but charming. Doors typically open a few min before start. Pay cash inside. Def an icon of coastal N county and a must visit while this piece of history still remains. I also love the surf/skate documentaries that pop up occasionally like the Solento Film Festival. Many good times.

One of the best movie theaters In the world. I love the fact that instead of seeing pre show "entertainment" before the movie at most movie theaters, you see a blank screen and hear music. I love that you can hear the sound of the train/coaster go by every now and then while the film is playing. Some may say it's distracting, but I think it adds to the charm. A very cozy single screen theatre. I hope it stays in business forever. Oh yeah and it has top notch popcorn, and butter.

Watch " On Sacred Ground" Documentary about the oil pipe being built throughout private lands and the mistreatment of the Native American Tribes.
Felt like I went back in time while I was seated in the theater. While looking to the ceiling, admiring all the artwork.

as history buffs and movie lovers, this was a highlight of our trip to the area. beautiful place and we enjoyed our time there. it is cash only and you can feel the history in the place (seats are old, place is a bit dark) but still highly recommend!

Best theatre, popcorn made fresh, and a cute movie dog named Maddie. If you are in Encinitas you have to visit this magical historic icon!

I'll never get tired of this place. It's home, it's a piece of history in modern times. This theater is a local gem and if your not visiting it, than can you really call yourself a local? Anyways, super rad, awesome people. Support your local business and long live La Paloma!

Came here for the first time to see “Fantastic Fungi” for a Saturday matinee. Historic theater with a throwback ambiance. The fact that they only accept cash and seemed to have just j ok new employee working as cashier for tickets and all concessions, and he probably flipped the projector on too. In sum, enjoyed the experience and would definitely come again. ($12 entry free)

I love this wonderful 100 year old theatre. I sit in my seat and lean back to take in all the architectural details. Is it old? A little shabby? Sure! Will your seats recline and can you order a fancy latte? no! But it's still a wonder and a reminder of a time gone by.

Old world charm in in a up and trendy part of town. Plenty of parking in the area with restaurants and a place to get a drink.
Back to the Golden Age of Hollywood.
It's a great place to have an experience not just watch a movie.

There is magic in La Paloma - and I'm happy to be a patron even though the drive from Vista is a bit far. I make an event by dining in the area, parking, and a short walk for my old legs - buy popcorn and a drink and enjoy the views - aside from the movie. I'm 10 years younger than the theater. Too bad a few wealthy folks don't restore this bit of history. The theater, not me. ;-)

Aging beauty of a theater. Still works. Located in charming downtown Encinitas. Where else can you find "charming" in metro San Diego...?

Very old school theatre and the very best time. It’s not perfect but that’s why it is. A taste of nostalgia. Probably no theatre like it left on Earth. Worth the adventure and experience.

Growing up in San Clemente, we had a (1920s era) theater like this one that now, sadly remains closed and decaying. The La Paloma Theatre is a wonderfully enchanting trip back in time. There are stunning Art Deco touches everywhere. Frankly I was thrilled just to be allowed inside to look around. To be able to view an iconic film, (such as Jaws) here, was really just the icing on the cake! What an amazing night! Please continue to support this beautifully historic theater so that others may enjoy it for many years to come.

Cool little old movie theater that takes you back in time. Don’t expect any fancy thing nor 21st century reclining seats, but just being there it transport you to the 40’s.
Very decent sound and viewing. Again, if you want to watch hi res image movie, go to the AMC or any movie big chain.... this is a last of a kind movie theater out there. Worth the trip, love it!

Last week was my wife and I first trip to this beautiful iconic theater. Came in to see Night of the Living Dead from 1968.
We loved this theater. The owner sold us our tickets and concessions. A very nice guy. We loved the 2 hours we spent here at the La Paloma. Theres only a few theaters like this left in the country. A theater like this is to be cherished and appreciated. Im very happy one of them is here in Encinitas. We look forward to years of visits to come.
Our Thanks
Greg & De De Main
