Virgie's Restaurant & Lounge

Stopped in one eveing while passing thru Gallup. Noticed a hand written sign on the door, closing early and we were like 10 mins to when they closed. But they welcomed us in and served us without rushing us out. We actually had one of the best servers Ive encountered in Gallup! I believe her name was Cecelia. She was on top of her game and really knew how to treat the guests. We enjoyed our dinner, service and the hospitality they showed. The food was on point. Hot, Tasty and generous portions.
Keep up the great job...we will definately be back.

Friendly wait staff, great attention to customers with a small town feel! Our drinks never got less than half full before they were topped off. It's a couple extra minutes off the highway but completely worth the stop!

This place is a classic Route 66 stop. The place was packed, but the service was excellent and the food came out quickly. Great tortillas! Please don't change a thing!

Home cooking at its New Mexican Finest. Really nice staff, homey diner feel, and a pretty extensive New Mexican menu, with mix and match combos. The flour tortillas were made there, and they were fresh, fluffy, thick and pillowy soft, and really excellent with the Mexican-style broth and tomato based beef stew with big chunks of beef, potatoes, carrots, and lots of aromatics. My husband really enjoyed the beef fajitas and the plate has a delicious assortment of condiments to go with the fluffy tortillas and juicy beef. I *loved* the stew, it was super satisfying after a cold, dry long day hiking, and it really hit the spot, perfectly seasoned, and the broth was so soothing.

Authentic! Large, filling portions, wait staff was exemplary. The sauces are all made in house as are the flour tortillas. If you like spice, go for the green chili sauce. Loved the tamales and enchiladas!

Heading back to Dallas, Texas from a long trip from California. We were Hungry, and found this restaurant it had very good food, Highly recommended

Walked 2 miles one way to eat there. Worth every mile. A little tequila got me back to the hotel. Live in oregon and if I'm in the area again, I would eat there.

The food was awesome, as always. Thank you for daily, fresh tortillas. Love to eat at Virgies always the same atmosphere. We are sorry to hear about Anita, the waitress there for many years her excellent and polite manner missed her smile. Keep up the good work, Charlie. You're the best.

The food was super delicious! I had the porkchop dinner and I ate every last bite cause it was perfectly tasty! Our waitress though! She was soooo tentative and nice! I swear she needs to teach a class for all those other bad waitresses I've encountered. Definitely recommend eating here!

Four in our party. They were getting near their end of business day. We were welcomed in still. The server (did not get her name) was extremely kind and attentive to our elderly parents. She made our whole dinner experience enjoyable. Though we were the last guest out the door. The whole staff waited patiently and thanked us sincerely. What a true way to run a business. Thank you Virgie's staff. Oh yes the food was excellent. We order Mexican and American dishes. We will visit soon again.

Best Service Ever in Gallup! Celebrate my Birthday and they were Awesome, not just our waiter but the whole team! We are from Santa Fe and we loved it!

If you go for the food and not the run down appearance you will leave happy and full.
The huevos rancheros were perfect as were the chips, guacamole, and salsa.
The staff was attentive and very friendly.
This is the perfect stop after travelling all day.
Basic ,hearty Mexican food.

Just passing through and pleased to find this restaurant. It is a great place to escape the boring and bland franchise food world. The meals have a homemade flavor and are quite filling. You can find the same franchise restuarants in any city in the usa but you'll only find Virgie's here. Don't pass it up.

Deserves Michelin stars. The only thing better than the stellar food was the service.

I had read all the reviews and we decided to drive through Texas and stop here in Gallup...just to try this place. We almost didn't make there 8pm closing and we were worried that we wouldn't make it in time. It was a blessing to make it just 30min before they closed. After 12 hours of driving this was what my family needed. The beef stew is amazing, menudo was even better! But what brought us here was the homemade tortillas! And let me tell you it is worth the drive! The sopapillas are so yummy. You have to try them too! We felt the hospitality...the staff was amazing. But what made our night was the gentlemen that purchased our dinner. Thank you so much for making it even more memorable! What a great end to our long drive! It helped us get through 1 more day of driving. Thank you so much for all you do!
