This place is really awesome the art the craft they have is beautiful, you can even get two blankets for 10 dls a piece that's hand crafted by the natives, and they have some of the most beautiful stones.

The staff is very very friendly there is lots of parking and the restrooms are very clean.

9/22/2018 was my first road trip and Traveling from California to New Mexico was longer then I expected, being iv never been out of California I wanted to stop almost everywhere and my husband happily did so And when we stopped in Gallup, New Mexico we pulled in to NAVAJO TRAVEL PLAZA when we entered there doors I knew this wasn't your ordinary everyday store! Well not one iv ever seen before anyways, first thing we encountered was beautiful warm welcomings, I then realized that I'm not only in a store but in place of beauty and religion, they have beautiful authentic hand painted sand paintings that are displayed with love And respect, the prices vary but with the customer in mind leaving you the customer very satisfied, they have a variety of amazing authentic handcrafted pottery displayed in various places inside the store prices vary aswell, they have multiple different types of Amazing Navajo art throughout the amazing store aswell as T-shirt and many different types of awesome survivers from postcards to route 66 little signs and so much more, they have the best vanilla soft serve ice cream iv ever tasted in my life, they have a variety of beverages, candy, chip, ect.
They have massive fireworks im guessing almost every kind of legal firework and everything is inexpensive again keeping there customers in mind and that kind of company/business is the best kind!!
The best part of my visit to NAVAJO TRAVEL PLAZA is the knowledge I learned from the lady whom I wish I would have asked for her name took the time to teach me about her heritage and religion of the art from her love ones and ancestors leaving me to want to learn more and that was the best part of my whole trip, I'm writing my review as we are on our way home back to California,
One things for Shure if your passing thru GALLUP, NEW MEXICO I recommend you stop by NAVAJO TRAVEL PLAZA youll be happy you did I promise!

This place is awesome and has a gorgeous Navajo jewelry store. There are also great fireworks, super cheap gas, and Navajo blankets. Oh yeah, there's a rad old wagon in there, a real relic of another time.

They have a section with Native American jewelry. The lady running it is very knowledgeable on everything in the cases. For example which mines the various turquoise comes from. She will be honest with you regarding what is Navajo vs. Zuni made. She looked at one of my wife's rings and correctly identified it as Hopi made. The prices, when on sale, can't be beat (unless you know and can buy direct from the artisan).

Bought some beautiful jewelry there and I'm so in love with. There are so many items, you could stay for hours, not to mention rack up quite the bill. I'll certainly be buying stuff there again. The lady at the jewelry counter was very patient and helpful, had great knowledge of the products and meanings behind them too. Always a super plus when dealing with a purchase. Thanks again and I'm sure I'll be back.

THE KINDEST WORKERS IN THE WORLD!! 💗This is the most TOUCHING experience I’ve ever had at a business! I was taking a break from a long drive with my baby in the parking lot, a concerned worker came out and tried to offer us a blanket to keep us warm. I let her know I just bought one and I was okay. She was so sweet she even went back in and got her wallet and tried to give me some money for the baby. I was so touched by her kindness I will never forget this day and how kind the workers here are!! Thank you Navajo Travel Plaza angel for watching out for me and my son!! 💗

In response to some of these reviews:

I agree that masks should be user discretion, and coming from an infection control background, I tend to be a little anti mask because it just doesn’t line up with common sense, BUT, I’m also a conservative that also believes in capitalism and a business owners right to make their own rules in their own establishment. The Native American community was hit hard by Covid and I greatly appreciate their distrust in what the “Government experts” convey as science and facts considering the historical relationship between the US government and the indigenous people of North America. I will say their stuff to me is museum quality and worth the price. The lady at the counter is very knowledgeable and loaded with information about each piece and the history and culture of their people. It’s worth the visit, and hopefully you can catch them at a slow time because the woman there is a wealth of knowledge and extremely interesting to talk to.

I stopped to get gas and usually I would go to the Love's that is across the street but I decided to try something different and I'm really glad I did. The store was very very clean the bathrooms were clean but walking around and looking at Navajo blankets, postcards, sandstones and a bunch of other stuff It makes you Wonder why we ever treated the Indians the way we did. This was their land and we took it from them I don't see how anyone can think that's right. They deserve a lot more than they have ever gotten

I bought a couple knives. I'm a knife collector now that I have two fancy knives. Very nice people there. The $1 ice cream cone was a bonus.

Took a break from our roadtrip. Greeted upon entry, found the clean restrooms, bought some drinks and snacks. Considered buying some artwork, a bronze statue of a buffalo or maybe the eagle; very beautiful.

This is an incredible store! There is a section of authentic Navajo and other tribal jewelry and art. The staff was more than helpful and incredibly knowledgeable! I saw a piece of jewelry with a new rare stone called white buffalo that comes out of Nevada, a life size wooden kachina and tons more. This is a must stop on Route 66!
