Star House Chinese Restaurant

This is the best lemon chicken that I have had in years! The husband and wife owners that work there are so sweet… They made it very clear to me not to microwave this tomorrow. In order to keep it crispy they separate everything. Chicken, rice, and sauce. The lemon sauce is not too sweet… It is just perfect! I ate one whole breast before I took this picture. So this is only 2/3 of what you get in an order. Love it! My new favorite Chinese place! Haven’t had Chinese like this since New York City or San Francisco..!!!

Very good service. Lady is very nice, like eating at home. Food is very good! I ordered sweet and sour chicken. Nothing fancy about it but the flavors were all there. I would definitely go back to try something else

This is by far one of my favorite Chinese restaurants .. actually they are one of my favorite restaurants all together. This is not just because they offer a crazy jalepeno infused fried rice, it ties as well to the husband and wife that own/run this establishment being beautiful people.

I recommend this place for those looking to try a new place, looking for Chinese food, and those looking to just enjoy a meal. They are not a ritzy, dress up location, but they do deliver an upper shelf, welcoming environment, similar to a good friend inviting you to a meal at their home.

I also tried the BBQ pork fried rice as a change up and it was really good.
The owners are brother and sister and provide great customer service for affordable prices.

This was our first time eating here. We enjoyed everything, hot-n-sour soup, Mongolian chicken could have had more heat for our taste but they did supply us with hot oil. The last dish we had was house special pan fried noodles. This restaurant unt has been in business since 1989 and it is family run. We will definetly return.

The owners gave me a very welcome smile when I came in. They were so friendly and helpful. Made my food to order and personalized to my tastes. Quick service. Friendly vibe. Healthy fresh food. Great taste.

Tasty food with great service - a gem in the suburbs! Don't let the strip-mall setting deter you (note that, as pointed out by other reviewers, that the restaurant moved from San Marcos to their new Escondido location a few years ago) - the owner (Nancy) is very friendly, and highly attentive, and the food is delicious. Shrimp with lobster sauce and mu shu pork are especially delicious - along with a slate of classic offerings (e.g., spring rolls, sizzling rice soup, etc.). Great place for family celebrations!

I tried the Peking Duck because of the review from Marc Pierucci and I was not disappointed! There is nothing better than Chinese prepared duck when done right, and this delightful couple did it to perfection. The funny thing is, I expected to get like a quarter duck, but when I got there the chef held up a whole duck for me to admire. I wish I were a better writer so I could accurately describe how golden brown and crispy it looked! So I got the whole duck, chopped up in to bite size pieces and three bowls of home made broth to come home with. I enjoyed everything at home with my family and it was simply amazing. By the way, my young girls love the dumplings! The owners are hard working and very nice. I think this is the best Chinese meal you'll find in Escondido.

The Peking Duck was a work of art. Expertly prepared, moist and generous!! Probably the nicest people you'd ever run into who clearly love what they do, and it comes through in their food!! We picked up several dishes to go for my dad as a surprise, and they were putting the finishing touches on everything as we arrived so it was fresh and ready!! War Won Ton, Chung King Pork and the Peking Duck were standouts!! If you want the duck, call ahead, it takes an hour to prepare. And ask for them to make you duck soup from the bones!! They made my fathers birthday one to remember and we will a) spread the word and b) be back!! Best Chinese food around here, without a doubt!

P.S. if you haven't tried the food, set foot inside or even met the owners, don't leave a 1 star review because "no one aswered the phone"...no one cares about your opinion and you hurt the establishment.

My wife and I are originally from Chicago and out there Chinese food restaurants are a dime a dozen, I'm not particularly fond of Chinese / Asian food.. probably because I've never had any properly prepared, but this place is ridiculously great. we always order the five-star jalapeno rice and something else that's insanely delicious, (sesame chicken or chan pi beef) the food's not breaded to all hell nor is it covered in salt. You can tell that food was prepared carefully and with love. We have yet to try the peking duck but we're very much looking forward to it.

Come and eat here! The staff is suuuuper friendly, the food is great, and for a good price! Their Sweetheart Chicken is really good (I think that was the name, but am not sure). Anyway, come and enjoy their awesome food, and super friendly customer service!!

This place was great! Food was amazing and customer service is perfect. The owners are so sweet and never leave you waiting! Definitely recommend the Chicken Lo Mein and Wor Wonton Soup.

Nancy and Alan have owned and operated the Star House for years in Escondido. They prepare the dishes to order and they are amazing!
Starting today, they are also open on Sundays! If you've been there you know how great their Szechuan dishes are and if you haven't give them a try! You won't be disappointed!
