Montiel park

Great little dog park! Montiel Dog Park has plenty of parking and is fenced properly. Park is kept clean
and well stocked with bags. I’ve had good experiences with the owners at this park and for the most part everyone has been very responsible.

The park has a ground level water fountain that is easily accessible. There is also a porta-potty for us humans, although I can’t speak to how clean it is as I haven’t dared to enter.

Hours are 7am to 9pm except for Wednesday which is 9am to 9pm. They don’t lock the gates though and occasionally I’ll show up earlier than opening time and has never been a problem.

All around a great little dog park that Lola approves!

Montiel Dog Park-

Accessibility: first of all I like this park because they have a Porta potty that is a large one, big enough for wheelchairs, and it has a hand rail next to the toilet for you to grab onto if you need. Many dog parks don't have large bathrooms like this so it was great! It also has handicap parking (only two spots though), flat ground to get up to the park and dog park, and there is some paved ground right when you get inside the dog park gates, with two cement tables with built-in cement chairs connected.

Likes: as mentioned above, I love the accessibility of this dog park and I do love that there are trees with shade for dogs and owners to rest under.

Experience and dislikes: I came here at 7PM on a regular Tuesday and the parking lot (it is a small lot) was almost completely full. There were some cars parked on the side of the road outside the parking lot also. The park had LOTS of people and even more dogs. I did not like that there were so many people without masks on, sitting on the tables close to each other so I wore a mask in here. I also did not like how this dog park has no separation between different size dogs...big dogs and small dogs are all in this one park together and there were many times today where bigger dogs were going after smaller ones in an aggressive mannor. Actually one time today, a large dog was attacking a slightly smaller dog and a woman had to run over and yell at plus hit the big dog with her hand to get off the slightly smaller dog. It was a bit unnerving so I left after that with my small dog.

Great Place for a Christmas break Family Disc Golf game. Each hole has two trees, one for serious players and the other for the rest of us. Also 9 holes is a more reasonable length c 18 holes is a lot for a beginner. There is plenty of parking and the dog park looks good, too

Montiel Park is a nice little park! There is a fenced area for off leash dog play - please keep your dog leashed when not in the fenced area, a half basketball court, picnic tables, and a disc golf course. There are a lot of native and drought tolerate plants. It's a great place to bring the family.

Love this dog park. I enjoy taking my family and walking around. Really well kept

Great disc golf course, lots of uphill and downhill shots. 9 holes with two different tees to be able to play a full 18. Compact spacing lets you run through the course pretty quickly.

We love Monticello Park! We play Disc Golf there often or just go for a little hike up the hill. They also have a half basketball court and a dog park! However IF ITS RAINING or has been raining - Beware for the dirt trail turns to DEEP MUD.

Great doggie Park, plenty of space for your furry loved one🐶 to have fun & basketball court & pic-nic area for kids of all ages.

My dogs love coming here and now they have playground toys!

Montiel is an awesome park. Great Disc Golf course! Play the B tees for a little more of a challenge.

Clean park, plenty of parking and seats. Most watching their dogs and cleaning up. I like that this park has grass so my dog doesn't get too muddy.

Dog friendly park with Frisbee golf and a small pathway to walk up the hill.

This is a nice little dog park. It is very small but it’s well kept, clean, and nice surrounding area. I would like to have more dog parks around like this. 👍🏻

Small clean park that only locals know. Regulars are very responsible about their dog(s) behaving right. Highly recommend you come early or late in the day to avoid the bigger crowds around 4PM to 6PM if you want to avoid overwhelming yourself and your dog(s).

Dog park: Brought my boys here later in the day and they loved it. It can get a bit crowded during the day, especially on weekends. Plenty of room to run around and has shade trees and a covered sitting area for the "pawrents".

Disc Golf: Spacious and can be a little hike toward the back holes. I've witnessed many players misplacing discs in the brush or trees. I haven't actually played but it's a decent sized course. I sometimes take my doggos for a walk on the pathways when the dog park is too busy.

The park has beautiful shrubbery and trees. There's a few benches throughout to sit and take in the view.

Clean, has a water fountain and a bathroom. A fun course for all skill levels. Can get really hot so early morning is the best time to visit. Tons of lizards and butterflies.

Surprised at how nice this park was! I was in area so wanted to take my dog somewhere. The dog park itself mainly had big dogs in it so I didn't take my guy into it. There was a nice trail that has Frisbee golf and garden. There's also a basketball court.

This is a Dog Park and it is one of my favorites! the people here are friendly and the dogs all seem to always get along, I've been here much more than i can remember and I've not encountered any incident that wasn't handled by the owners quickly and wit1h friendly resolve. bring your four legged friend and come visit

Great little park good for little dogs! Big dogs should be well behaved or I'd imagine you'll get the stink eye or cold shoulder from other visitors. Disc golf is a good little mini golf course. I par'd the front 9 from the "A" tees. There is poison oak in the middle of the course but easily avoided if you decide not to play the "B" tee on hole 2. Great park for putters only challenge!

One of the few grassy dog parks in San Diego. Nice shade trees and seating with dog bags and water fountains for dogs to drink. It's only one dog park (not divided into dog size or temperament) and like all dog parks, your experience will largely depend on the other dogs and owners there with you. Parking is plentiful and park is easily accessible. Will be coming here often!
