The Cheese Shop of Salem

Hotel cheese plate! So happy to have found this shop. The owner let me try a ton of cheeses and provided lots of cheese facts.

The Cheese shop has an amazing inventory of meats, cheese, wine & charcuterie sides. The staff is very knowledgeable & friendly and allows you to sample any products you’re trying to decide on. My group was traveling from out of town and we were able to select things in smaller portion sizes and make a charcuterie board for dinner. Highly recommend the German Riesling in the photograph below.

This is my favorite cheese store/ wine store. The selection is top notch and always exciting. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable; I love asking them for their personal favorites or.for suggestions.

This place might be the closest thing to heaven in this devilish town! Wow. Cheesemonger Chris was incredibly patient with me and my best friend as we made our important decision on two hard cheeses and two soft. We were allowed little samples of things which was awesome so we weren't making our choices kind of blindly. We settled on four great cheeses and I suggest you check out their pictures/descriptions below! They were truly phenomenal but I think our top pick was the Shropshire Blue cheese. We also purchased a nice dry rosé and some bread and crackers to enjoy with our cheese. I was drooling over their impressive meat area but strayed away because my bestie is a vegetarian (will have to return back and check that out). Such a pleasant experience!

Lots of selection and super friendly staff. I had a ton of camping gear on me, but I felt welcome and didn't feel judged. Products are pretty pricey, but it's because a lot of it is either local or imported. A great spot for European products like stroopwafels and gnocchi.

Such a great selection of amazing cheeses! Really nice selection of wine, crackers and some hard to find bitters.

Also the staff is super nice and you get samples if you want to taste before buying.

No visit to Salem is complete without a visit to The Cheese Shop. Need convincing? They have about 15 varieties of blue cheese alone! Every person is like Wallace (but not Gromit) with their product knowledge. You’ll also fine beer and wine, crackers and treats.

For years now I have been enjoying cheese and other treats (crackers, jams, wines) from the Cheese Shop. And every single time my experience is top notch. The Cheese Shop of Salem is a spectacular shop - not to be missed!

Beyond just the food, the team is fantastic! Highly recommend chatting with some of them to get recommendations and learn about seasonal offerings. Definitely add this place to your list and treat yourself to some cheese to take home and enjoy later!

Absolutely in love with this shop! It was one of our last stops while visiting Salem, and WOW! The guy behind the counter was very friendly and knowledgeable when I came to cheese and wine recommendations. He let us sample the cheeses and even sold us on an extra one after we’d already made our purchase, simply by offering us a sample. Every cheese we got was perfect, and the wine he recommended went really well with it. We were sad we couldn’t buy more (it was our last day in NH) BUT I’m super excited to order online! Definitely make this stop a priority early in your trip!

Super cheese, wine and deli selections. Only high end quality but many price points. Always helpful and friendly staff. Got everything we needed for an awesome charcuterie platter we are bringing to a Christmas party!

I came in with my friend for a little cheese night escapade and everyone was so unbelievably kind and helpful in this store. Absolutely wonderful shopping experience will 100% recommend people to come here.

I am, sadly, far away from this wonderful cheese shop. But that is why I know that their mailing service is absolutely top notch! I ordered a rather huge bucket (you’ll understand once you try this ‘Aussie Magic’) of cheese as a gift, and it arrived quickly and safely with only some very minor oil leakage. The shipping is very reasonable, and the cheese was well packed and insulated. I look forward to ordering from them again soon!

Wow! What a shop! I wish we had one in our home town. The cheese selection is outstanding! And such delicious accouterments like mustard and jellies. We got their grilled cheese offering on Saturday and our taste buds were so satisfied!

We love the cheese shop! They are so friendly and helpful. There is such an array of products here, you really can't go wrong.

They also make fantastic grilled cheese sandwiches, cheese and charcuterie boards, and deliver out of state.

If you are worried about shopping, do it online or call. They'll have it ready for pickup!

Try have cheese and wine clubs as well. The cheese mongers are so helpful.

I love this store. They know (and love) their cheese! Thank you for helping me make what could have been a dreary birthday in isolation into a tasty and wonderful afternoon.

I called during the covid crisis in early April with some vague notion of wanting to throw a cheese picnic birthday party for my partner. Being a cheese novice I had no idea what to get. The person that answered my call was patient and spent at least a half hour on the phone describing all sorts of cheeses and helped me pick out a few cheeses and other items like crackers, mustard, cured meat, peppers and pickles. The cheeses selected were spot on and the portions were perfect for 2 people and we even had a little leftover to experiment with in our dinner. The pick up was easy and quick.

As soon as you walk in all you can smell are the amazing cheeses they have! Like that you can sample before buying and they also have charcuterie- perfect for those like me who can eat a cheese board like every day for a meal. They also sell wines, crackers,pastas and various sauces. I can't wait to comeback and explore more of what I can find here. Definitely check it out if you're in town!

Huge selecting of cheese from all over the world. Large selection of meats, crackers, spreads, wine, sweets, and more. Even some local new england beers. Staff was very knowledgeable and kind, letting us try samples and helping with our alcohol selections.

Peter and his staff are next level. It's so rare to find people who would rather listen to what you like in order to find you your perfect match instead of constantly upselling. I was so comfortable asking all my questions and never felt silly or intimidated for not having a clue 😆 They gladly let us taste any of the cheeses we wanted, and helped us choose the right crackers, cookies, wine and beer to go with. They even packaged it for our road trip so that it would survive the week of travel. 10/10 Would recommend 🧀💙 p.s. try the Aussie Magic!

I’ve lived in several very large cities in my life and The Cheese Shop of Salem is the best cheese shop I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting. The cheese, the meats, and the wine are all top notch. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to let you sample some of the best cheeses you will ever eat. Could not recommend a place more for parties, date night, or really anytime you want to eat good meats and cheese.

Great shop with lots of cheese, wine, and anything else you might need for a charcuterie board. The staff here were friendly and knowledgeable. We told them what kind of cheese we enjoy and got several recommendations which we also got to sample first. They also had very interesting wine selection here. We came home with a bottle of delicious wine from Lebanon.
