My favorite place to camp. Family owned and operated. My husband and I have never had a bad experience. The grandkids love fishing at their private pond, hanging out at the playground, or participating in one of the many activities on themed weekends. There has also been many upgrades to the campground. This past year, multiple sites were added to accommodate larger rigs. I highly recommend you stop by for a visit.

In all the campgrounds I have been to as a full time Rver, 7 years and 7000 miles all over the country, this is my favorite campground. They are family owned, third generation and they do a wonderful job. Beautiful acres on the Chicahominy River with trails for biking and walking. The owners treat you with exceptional service and are always friendly and happy to see you. Everything you need for a peaceful, family friendly camping experience. The sites are beautifully maintained and very roomy. This place is 5 Star all the way.

Stayed here several times. a whole month also. Absolute best campground we have been to. Always a fun time had by all. Undoubtedly the best camp host/owners we have ever met. Super polite and caring staff, Awesome place to fish in the ponds. Near the lake. And just a great feeling overall.

Nice campground for a private campground. Golf carts are allowed but it's not a constant parade of loud music and flashing lights at night. There are some obnoxious people that need the whole campground to hear their playlist, but it's mostly tolerable.

Quiet clean campgrounds. It was my first trip in my camper. I loved it so much I am storing it there for frequent visits. The lady in the shop was super nice and chipper all of the time. I will need to learn what the fish like to eat though - lots of fish but nothing took my hook. Looking forward to the next relaxing weekend.

This was a great campground. I stayed in a cabin, which had 2 bunk beds, 1 full and the other was twin size and it had AC which made my stay much better in the middle of the heat. Great location and amenities. The store had what you need and the pool was just fine.

Had a great time. Bathhouses were someplace a horror movie would have been filmed and the locks for the stalls were up top where my kids couldn't reach them but they told me they are planning on redoing them. I am looking forward to going back!

The owners are absolutely amazing and make you feel so welcomed that we keep coming back. Always have so many fun activities. Just came for Halloween month and the haunted trail was awesome. So much effort went into that for guests to have a great time.

We had the BEST experience this weekend at Ed Allen's. It started with the super fast registration at the front desk. They have a store with all of the essentials ((and more!!)). Our site was amazing. We had to stop in one of the bath houses on a golf cart ride- so clean. We had rain our first night in, but we were able to enjoy the pool the next day. It was great! There's a good amount of shade if you're not wanting to soak up too many rays. There's also a restaurant you're able to drive your golf cart to...Lakeside Restaurant. Great food and SO convenient! I absolutely would recommend this campground!

Spent a very hot weekend in July. Thankfully camping spots offer lots of shade. This campground is a lot quieter then others we have visited this summer, more mature campers and less children (or at least by us). Having 4 kids with us, this was not ideal. Seems to be more seasonal campers and some near us cursed at one of our sons, acting like they owned the place. Staff is friendly. Cabins looked cute. Pool was beautifully landscaped. View of the lake was great. Two ponds to fish in. Bath house & wash area were very well kept. Close drive to Williamsburg. They had a nice little concert Saturday night & I understand they do activities each weekend.

We just got back from our 'shake down' camping trip. Easy peasy. We liked the area. Our campsite was great. The pool wonderful. Everyone was super nice, and more than helpful to us, first timers.
Our back door neighbors were super loud, late into the night ,but, hey you can't pick your neighbors. We going with, this was just a 1 off.
We would absolutely come back.

Nice people, on the lake for easy access. Lakeside restaurant has good food. Bait shop for most of your fishing needs and boat rentals.

My wife and I spent the weekend here in our Class C motorhome and we will definitely go back. The folks that worked there were very friendly and helpful. The swimming pool area was clean and relaxing. The RV sites were wooded, giving plenty of shade. If I had one, my only complaint would be that the bathhouse and restrooms were very, very dated; but they were clean and functional.

We just spent the weekend at Ed Allen’s in the Red Oak cabin and it was amazing! I heard that it was recently renovated so the cabin itself was perfect for a family of five. The view was right on the lake and beautiful. We watched the bats at night going after the bugs and the kids caught tad poles and little fish with a small net and a bucket and put them back. We rented a golf cart, kayak and boat and had a wonderful time! There was a picnic table on the deck and a fireplace and fire pit right next to the cabin. We took the golf cart to the stocked pond and tried to catch a big bass but we’re unlucky however we did see tons of them swim on by and we did catch other fish. I can’t recommend this place enough. We will definitely be going back!

Me and my little man (4 years old) came to Ed Allen's for the first time last weekend for About Time Music Festival and had an amazing time! It was so kid-friendly and safe and every last detail was a delight. A free potluck dinner in the evening. Dancing all night in the campground pavilion, bedecked in glow sticks. Making so many new friends. Midnight golf cart rides. A picturesque breakfast on the lake. Swimming in the pool all day with the music in view. Ice cream sandwiches melting all over our hands. The few stars glittering out from behind the trees above our tent as we fell asleep. Waking up to birdsong in the morning. The palpable joy in the air of a community coming together after a long, painful separation.

This was such a good reminder to keep things simple, travel light and be full of wonder. You don't have to go far from home to have an adventure. Literally gonna go back to this campground next weekend because it was so perfect.

Compared to most places this is a gem. The staff is amazing and the service and amenities are beyond expectations. As far as campgrounds go this is the place you want to be near the peninsula. The bathrooms could use improvement but I still give five stars because everywhere else is way over priced.
