Ellie Bird has been on our list to try since they opened. Like their sister restaurant Rooster & Owl, the menu is both refined and rustic, with an emphasis on small plates great for sharing. We went for dinner and ordered the bread basket, spring green salad, Vietnamese french onion soup, salted cod rangoons, pomelo larb, braised lamb shank and chocolate cake. The pineapple buns are a carry over from Rooster & Owl that I’d happily eat with every meal. The Vietnamese french soup is aptly named, a wonderful combination of richly aromatic braised oxtail broth reminiscent of a fabulous pho with the oniony, cheesy, crouton goodness of a classic french onion. The rangoons are a perfect execution of an American Thai staple and the pomelo larb burst with flavor. The lamb shank, expertly cooked and glazed, was easily split between the two of us and sat on a bed of herbaceous tabouleh.

A delay in getting us to our seats at the chefs counter resulted in several comped plates throughout the meal and we were very grateful for the above and beyond. The asparagus and pine berry salad added to our starter course was a true delight, who knew they were such a good pair!

I’ll be interested to see how the restaurant continues to evolve. While Rooster & Owl remains our go-to for special occasions, we will absolutely come back to Ellie Bird with friends and family in tow and certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal.

While it was a tough start it quickly corrected. Ashleigh was attentive and polite. She also share some great recommendations. Seated at the chefs table at first seemed like a bad choice. However we found ourselves talking about the food. We done. We will be back soon!!

We had a fantastic night at Ellie Bird. We started with the Cod Rangoons. They were the perfect balance of crisp and creamy. We also enjoyed the salmon and the braised lamb shank (see photos). Both were so flavorful and beautifully plated. We devoured the gnocchi as an additional side. I will probably dream about it. It was that delicious. Lastly, the cheesecake sundae and yuzu posset were the perfect way to cap off the evening. Highly recommend dining here.

Everything was fantastic. The service was great. They were very attentive.
The food was deliciously elegant. The non-alcoholic apple flavored drink was sooo tasty.
The cucumber salad was light and delicious. The tater tots were neatly shaped as french toast sticks. The Ellie Bird hot sauce was very good. I loved the fried chickpeas on the Kale salad. For some reason I thought kale spaghetti wasn't pasta. Nonetheless, it was good too. Nothing we had was bad. Even the muscles.
Parking in the garage across the street is validated.
It's a cute restaurant. I expected it to be a little bigger, but it surely wasn't empty. Folks enjoy it.

Beautiful interior decorating for a chic and modern restaurant from the founders of Rooster & Owl. We went for brunch and really enjoyed the meal.

The fresh juice blends were good and the pastry basket is a must order. The kale salad was fine but not very memorable. My friends liked their pineapple bun sliders, mochi waffles, pork hash, and French onion soup.

Go with a group to try all their dishes! They have a parking code for free parking as well.

We had to wait a bit for our table, but the manager set up Prosecco at the bar and offered us the bread basket on the house! The staff is very attentive. Once our table was ready, we were ushered over, and whatever we left at the bar was quickly brought to us.

The staff was very knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered quite a bit of starters, three entrees, and dessert. Overall, we had a great experience. The food was incredible and we felt well taken care of. I can't wait to go back.

We arrived at 7, we’re out at 8:06. Dinner service couldn’t have been faster and I’m here for it.

Started with a bread and butter ( focaccia and scallion butter) spread for the table. Warm moist bread with flavorful butter. Great way to start!

We had the mussels and salmon ceviche to start. Both were good. I think it’s a bold choice to have salmon in your ceviche as opposed to a white fish, but it was flavorful. I think more spice in the ceviche sauce would have made the dish bolder. Mussels were fine.

For the main we enjoyed the Bronzino entree and the duck entree. This is where the meal really shows out. The Bronzino dish has so many textures and flavors; all of which sat well on their own, but together were a piece of art. The best part the flavors and textures didn’t run together. The duck was also well done. It laid on a bed of cassoulet which can typically be hit or miss, but the cassoulet was delicious. Not at all over powering. Not bland, but a nice compliment to the duck which was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside.

Lastly dessert! I had Rachel’s chocolate cake. I don’t know who you are Rachel but the cake was great. He had the sorbet. Which I think was a cranberry flavor and another flavor. The cranberry wasn’t giving identifiable cranberry flavor but it was good.

To drink I had a tea ( it was cold outside) and he had a beer. Service was good. My water glass was never empty and the staff was attentive from when we came in till we left.

Great falls church gem!

What's good? The Vietnamese French Onion Soup was amazing and Fancy Tater Tots were amazing! The Grilled Pork and Amish Chicken Piccata were excellent. The cucumber salad was surprisingly delicious. The brussel sprouts were decent. I really appreciate how attentive the manager was. We were a party of 6 and had to wait for a while to be seated because the previous group took long to leave the table, and in return the manager offered us a round of drinks on the house for the inconvenience. I look forward to go back and maybe try their brunch.

From the moment we walked into Ellie Bird, we were enveloped in a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere. The decor is tastefully modern with a touch of warmth, creating a perfect backdrop for an unforgettable dining experience.

Our culinary journey was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish was a testament to the chef's passion for quality and creativity. The flavors were balanced, innovative, and beautifully presented, leaving us eagerly anticipating the next course.

What truly set our experience apart were our bartenders, Nick and David. Their expertise and friendly demeanor made us feel right at home. They recommended fantastic drink pairings and their attention to detail was impeccable. It's rare to find such genuine hospitality and skill.

Ellie Bird not only delighted our palates but also made us feel like part of the family. It's a gem worth visiting for anyone who appreciates great food and service. We'll definitely be returning and recommending it to all our friends!

Phenomenal family owned restaurant with a sister restaurant in D.C Rooster and Owl. Delicious food, relaxing atmosphere, love the decorations!

Delicious, inventive food created by same chef as Michelin-starred Rooster & Owl, in a low-key, kid-friendly atmosphere! Even the tater tots "side" dish unexpectedly came with 2 uniquely tasty dips - a truffle aioli and a spicy, fresh, tomato-based dip I especially loved. Chicken & biscuits were a sleeper hit - best buttery biscuits in the DMV and tender, well-seasoned fried chicken.

And KID-FRIENDLY!! We had the best restaurant experience ever with kids. 21mo old loved kimchi rice omelette (not spicy to me and sweeter than I make, but I use my mom's kimchi lol...will have to make milder kimchi fried rice like Ellie Bird's for the kids), 4yo names his favorite in the video while making jokes. Major 👍👍 for the eco-friendly and well-designed kid cups: sturdy plastic cups you leave at the restaurant to be re-used, and even silicone straws with stoppers to prevent being pulled out. Thank you for no single-use plastic waste!! Also loved the outdoor seating (see pic below - tables with red chairs are Ellie Bird), and community astro-turf and cute chairs/benches right outside which the kids loved running around on afterwards. Looks like there's a splash pad for the summer (not pictured in the photo).

Free garage parking across the street, validated inside Ellie Bird 🐦.

I loved the appetizer and entrees! We got the restaurant week menu and it was a good deal. The poke really surprised me - there were just so many different levels of flavors which made it fun. Dessert is normal good and didn’t stand out. The decor is modern and colorful, I like it

We sat at the chefs counter, because we both really like to watch what’s going on. Our favorites where the salmon poke and onion soup. We got the duck sausage rigatoni and grilled pork, which were both very good, and Rachael’s chocolate cake is very rich and the chai frosting was amazing. Molly, of course, had the seasonal sorbets, which were coconut and pineapple, so she was in heaven.

I loved the Amish chicken dish. It was so soft and tender.
My favorite dessert was pumpkin pudding.
Cucumber side dish was so fresh.

Such a cute space. I haven't been to the 1st restaurant but what I can say if it's as good as this one I will be adding it to the list. The drinks were great and our server was so knowledgeable. Honestly the only thing I didn't enjoy was the tater tots and the chocolate cake. Either then that it honestly was such a divine meal. Restaurant is cute, nothing crazy aesthetically ground breaking but again the food was the main show as it always should be.

Btw get the bread! Those rolls were so darn delicious 😋

Yum-my! This brand new restaurant served up a delicious meal to my companions and I last evening. The service was great, presentation beautiful, vibe was fun and the food was extraordinarily tasty. Our table particularly enjoyed the lamb shank, French onion soup, mushroom toast, rigatoni, and all of the desserts. I gave Ellie Bird 5 stars because it offers a great dining experience on all levels. You will not be disappointed!

Ellie Bird is easily the BEST new restaurant in Virginia! Absolutely blown away by the service from the whole team (our server Austin was amazing) and the food is the best we’ve had in years out of many Virginia and DC spots.

We discovered them at the NOVA Magazine Taste of NOVA event - so glad we did! Ellie bird has an incredible attention to detail - in the food of course - but also the service and the restaurant itself. Our server memorized our names, the team kept our table clean and serviced, even the bathrooms are perfect.

Highly recommend the poke, oyster larb gai, bread basket, shishito peppers, Cajun redfish, pork chop, hummingbird cake, and cheesecake ice cream.

That’s a long list of food but Ellie Bird really knocks everything out of the park. Really fun fusion style, all incredibly delicious.

Great spot for a date night or outing with friends. We will absolutely be coming back!

Rooster & Owl is one of my very favorite restaurants in DC so I was pretty excited to try this place. And it did not disappoint! I love the vibe. The decor is tasteful and fun. And of course the food is delicious. Shishito peppers were a standout for me. Mussels were delicious. I would come here once a week if I lived in the neighborhood. I was excited to try the alcoholic boba tea, but turns out that’s only on brunch menu. I’ll be back!
