King's Barbecue

Tried this place while on a long trip, and glad I did. I’m more used to Eastern North Carolina style, and was eager to give this a try. The sauce was very different, more tangy than sweet, with the aid of what I can only surmise was a lil bit of mustard. The chopped pork sandwich was good, slaw more of a coarsely chopped style than a finely diced. The price on the “deluxe pork sandwich,” which included two sides, was very nice. I gotta say though, saw a table nearby with two plates of the fried chicken dinner and I nearly threw my plate against a wall to distract them while I stole a few bites. Next time I come here the chicken better be looking over its shoulder.

King's has been serving up some of VA's finest BBQ since 1946! In addition to the wonderful pork 🐖 , they also serve pit Beef 🐃 . Next time you're in Petersburg, check ✔ them out. You can't go without getting the hand-breaded, fried Onion Rings!! 🤯 Or their home made pies!

5NOV21 Back for another DELICIOUS BBQ meal.😃😋🤩👍 I came to see my Sister this morning and before heading back to Richmond I had to treat myself to lunch at KINGS. AUG21 😃🤩😃🤩😋🤩FINALLY!!! KINGS is back with "dine in" service!!!😃 I have really missed eating here since the Covid epidemic intruded in everyone's life. They have redecorated and the place really looks NICE!!!👍👍👍 I had my usual: the large sliced pork dinner with baked beans and french fries and a sweet tea. DELICIOUS!!!😃😋👍 As always. KINGS BARBEQUE is the VERY BEST BBQ!!! I have been going to this restaurant since I was a child. My Family ( Mom, Dad, 2 Sisters, Grandma, Aunt and Uncle and numerous cousins) used to go there every Sunday after Church. Their sauce is the secret that makes Kings "The King of Barbeque". Sure will be glad when this Covid mess is over so I can enjoy "dine in" meals again. The place hasn't really changed all that much in all these years. A lot of my Family members aren't here anymore but my Children, and their Children, are loyal fans of this AWESOME restaurant and are carrying on a Family tradition of enjoying DELICIOUS barbeque in a place we all love and appreciate.

The food here is incredibly good, and it's the only place I'll eat BBQ from. The staff is great and they always get my order right. I'm hoping that they open up again soon so I can take my husband here and have him try it for the first time because this was THE spot for me and my family to eat out.

First time here... had a GREAT experience! Loved the 1/2 inside and 1/2 outside meat on the sandwich... and the potato salad is VERY good, had to order some to go for home later!! Will definitely be back...
And don't forget to try "THE SAUCE."

We came to King's after a long time. We are delighted that they are just as good as we remember, if not better than ever. Our server, Matt, was very very kind and attentive. Everyone was nice. The ambience is very relaxing. The portions are generous and the food is great. Amazing value.

Great food, great service! The wait can be long but it's because the food is worth waiting for... Heck just the smell is worth waiting in line for.

Wonderful white-oak-smoked beef, slicesld by the pound and sandwiches. Excellent variety of side dishes, including GREENS and delicious ONION RINGS. Service was quick and friendly. Will return!

Went in today to try the place. I was definitely not disappointed. Order a hamburger steak with beans and fries and it was great.

However, the best thing about the place is the team that works there. You could tell they enjoyed their work and customers. That's worth more than the good food in this day and age, in my opinion. I was constantly checked on by the waitress and everyone was joking with each.

Highly recommend. I will eat there again before I leave the area. Ask for the Meagan as your waitress if you stop.

I've been going to Kings with my parents since I was a child in the 60s. It was one of their favorite restaurants. The BBQ & food are still delicious & it looks just like it did then. It feels like home.

Amazing BBQ and fried chicken. Down home cooking and great service. Prices are reasonable and the place is super clean. Will definitely put King's on the favorite list!

Great place to get real Oak-Smoked BBQ, Beef Brisket, & Chicken. I've been eating here for more than 20 years. They have a separate door that you can walk in and pay for take-out food so you don't have to walk through the restaurant. They had a completely full restaurant today and I didn't have to wait but 15 minutes to get my food from the time I placed my order until I received it. I called ahead on the way to pick it up and it was ready when I got here. They have a house sauce which tastes like a vinegary BBQ sauce with strong hints of mustard. It's not an overly sweet sauce like Sweet Baby Ray's, which is a blessing. The take-out sides for the dinners are on the small side though.

Tina was an awesome waitress!!! Our cups never ran dry! And she was genuinely nice! Request her when come in!

We stopped here as we were passing through. We had such a great experience here. The food was delicious and our waitress was also amazing, friendly, knowledgeable, pumpkin pie was one of the best I've ever had. As a matter of fact, we will be stopping here every time we travel through Virginia.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.

Not sure where all the bad reviews are coming from. King's Barbecue is a favorite among folks in the general area. Their bbq sauce has never tasted vinegary to me, but I believe there is vinegar on the table that you can add if you like. If you want to taste vinegar based barbeque, head on down to North Carolina. I've eaten at King's so long, with my dear departed parents, my dates, my cousin, and my partner. There has NEVER been a bad meal, and they are always packed. You must try the onion rings. They are legendary. Can't pass up an order when we visit. It's an excellent restaurant and if you live around the area, you already know that. If you never tried them, check them out! And they sell a lot of that bbq sauce y'all are complaining about! And the prices are reasonable. Go get you some!

Fantastic place for a quick bite. Pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff, really great food. Fast service, the BBQ was tasty (I had the pulled pork sandwich). Portion sizes were slightly smaller, perfect in my opinion (for a quick lunch). Pricing was REALLY affordable.

Stopped by this place a second time (on our way back home), still AMAZING BBQ!

I have been going here since I was a kid. The BBQ, the sides and other choices are quality home cooking. The service is always great and prices are amazing for the food you get. If you like BBQ or even if you don’t definitely worth the stop.

We've been going to Kings my entire life. Best BBQ I've ever had. If this tells you anything, I drive from Williamsburg to pick up Kings BBQ!!! We have many BBQ joints locally, but none compare to Kings!😁

Kings Barbecue is a hometown staple in Petersburg. The family is so nice and so are their staff. What keeps me coming back is the barbecue sauce. It is amazing if you like vinegar based sauces. I have never found a sauce better.

This is how you do BBQ! I now live 2.5 goes away and if I'm anywhere close to Petersburg I'm putting a couple of their sandwiches in me belly and some onion rings 😀👍
