Croaker's Spot Petersburg

What an absolutely amazing lunch experience today!!! First of all, the service was EXCEPTIONAL!!! Our server Zach was very accommodating and patient. ZACH WAS THE BEST SERVER WE'VE HAD SINCE BEFORE THE PANDEMIC! He seemed to be invested in ensuring that our experience was all the way around great, from the drinks to the entrees and even down to the desserts. This was our first time dining here, and all of his recommendations from the menu did not disappoint. Now, I don't eat catfish, but that fried seafood combo with the fried catfish was on it! The batter was delicious! The fish was the perfect texture balanced with a great flavor. The Mac n cheese, cabbage, greens, and yams were delicious! The food was fresh, and the portions were generous. I highly recommend the crab stuffed salmon with cabbage and Mac n Cheese.... oh and the yams of course! The Cornbread was delicious! The drinks were great! Best Southern sweet tea I've had in a very long time!!! I can't leave out the pineapple coconut cake- I'm thinking that was definitely homemade!!! I've heard about this restaurant for years, and we finally made it across state lines to try it for ourselves and IT WAS WELL WORTH THE DRIVE AND THE DIMES!!! This was one of my Dad's favorite seafood restaurants. We always talked about going but never had the opportunity to come with him before he passed. Now I see why he loved it so much. We honored him today by finally trying some of his favorite dishes at Croaker's! The entire atmosphere was a vibe!!! The service and the food did not disappoint.

What a wonderful experience, captivating vintage view, fresh and fulfilling soul food and most of all a memorable dinner. I look forward to visiting here when traveling to VA in the future. There was a big group of us about 25 attending from our training group. We decided to select this location and it was not a mistake at all. Our server was attentive, efficient and kind.

I really loved my meal, the music and the atmosphere was wonderful. Would definitely recommend the crab stuffed salmon. (The fried fish has the skin on it - which is apparently normal in this area- but fair warning for anyone that isn't used to that. )
Definitely would come back!

A gem!
This restaurant is located in a scenic part of Petersburg on a cobblestone street. Not only is the building beautiful, but it's decorated with historical objects and the vibe is live!

The food was delicious. I had the Blackened Chicken dinner, which was well seasoned, served with baked Mac and Cheese, steamed cabbage and fresh cornbread.

I also had the Croaker's Cool Aid cocktail, which is a good drink for those who like sweet drinks that creep up on you.

My only complaint is that the food took long to come out. We were a large party and ordered it for takeout, so that may have been a factor.

Other than that, our Bartender TQ was great and kept us laughing in the meantime.

The staff is welcoming and the atmosphere is familiar.

What a unique & delicious spot to grab a freshly made meal! From the moment I stepped out of the car I immediately smelled the amazing aroma from the restaurant. Ordered Catfish dinner w/ macaroni & greens. Great service & atmosphere- enjoyed reading about Mr. Croaker and the history of this fine establishment. You'll definitely want to visit here! 😊

Amazing food! Great service! Our Waitress was very attentive and she treated everyone in her section wonderful! She even sung happy birthday to a gentleman sitting behind us and her voice was absolutely amazing! The manager was very kind and walked around and interacted with all of the guest! Definitely recommend everyone check it out! Service with a smile is hard to come by these days and the employees from the hostess to the waiter to the cook to the manager all had positive attitudes and smile! I’ll be back

We were in the Petersburg area and after checking reviews, we picked Croaker’ Spot for a late lunch/early dinner. It’s located in the historic area of Petersburg with cobblestone streets. We had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated but we didn’t mind because the aroma and atmosphere was iconic.

Our server Jeanie was wonderful.

Our meals were twin crab cakes and stuffed flounder. The crab cakes were exactly as described, full of crabmeat. Our sides were cabbage, cheesy grits (yummy), and cornbread. The cornbread was the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly baked with the top crispy and the inside moist. So delicious.

My drink was Croaker’s Koolaid. I highly recommend!

I almost forgot we had wings as an appetizer. They were perfectly cooked and extra crispy on the outside. Delicious! The side of coleslaw was tasty too!

We didn’t have any room for dessert but the cakes looked delicious.

We are so glad to have found this place and we will be back.

I wish I could give more than 5 Stars. I had the Famous fish Boat with cheese and I can see why it's famous. It was spectacular. The cornbread was sweet and perfect. All brought to our table by Demi with the sweetest smile and most excellent service! If you're passing through stop in and enjoy the best restaurant in Ole Town Petersburg.

Soooo delicious! The cornbread tastes like cake, sweet and dense. Broiled crab cakes are packed with crab meat and well seasoned. Cheesy grits rich and creamy and delicious. I’m a sucker for good ranch dressing and the dressing with the salad did not disappoint. Not pictured red velvet cake which no surprise is moist and decadent, but honestly I think I’d want more cornbread for dessert 😂🤣

First of all Norman C, our waiter was the absolute best. Professional, humorous, attentive yet let us eat...he was great!! Now, this was our first visit and I love the venue. We shared The Ultimate, which gave us a healthy sample of everything. Fresh, hot, incredibly seasoned,...Delicious. The Croaker Spot Petersburg is the Truth!!

The food here is amazing 👏🏾 I am an Alumni from VSU and I make it a point to visit either Croaker Spot location. My husband and friends had their first visit and they were just flabbergasted about how the food was so good. The cornbread taste like cake. Literally everything we ordered was superior. We compare all soul food restaurants to this one and none can match. Thank you Croaker for being amazing. Staff was like family and they moved as quickly as possible. The wait is what it is but always worth it! So don't show up starving but get ready to eat some mind blowing soul food!

We dined in to celebrate my husband's bday. The wait was an hour for a party 7. It was worth the wait. The food and atmosphere is great. Our server was awesome. The food tasted great and the portions were large. Highly recommend!

Absolutely AMAZING! Our server Thomas was top tier & the food was hot, delicious & made with love. Will certainly be back & highly recommend them to everyone.

Ashamed to say this my first time visiting the new location, but everything was perfect! Arrived around noon for there new brunch options, & it did not disappoint. The “Croakers Brunch Special” is well worth it! 2 chicken wings, 2 waffles, eggs, cornbread, and your choice of one side. It’s alotttt of food! and everything taste great. The waffle was the perfect & had a hint of sweetness..cannot figure out what they added but it taste amazing! Def worth the price as I left with half of my meal to eat later! Will def be back to try other options from the new menu

I loved it here, and everything was wonderful. We had so many items off the menu (sides: onion gravy, greens & coleslaw- greatness) . Even so, they had so many more things of interest to try on future visits. It's been a long time since I have had fresh, well seasoned (not salty), seafood in VA, or even NC. I could tell they took time and effort to make our meal. My limeade was great (not overly sugared and NO fake lime flavor).The drink my husband2be had was NOT disappointing, like 95% of the places we have been to. Waitress was so welcoming & I love the building as well.

This was my 3rd time taking the drive from Norfolk Va to Petersburg solely for this restaurant. The food was awesome, I mean spot on. Everything was cooked to perfection. There was like an hour waiting to be seated, but to be fair we did go on a Sunday around 2:30 3:00 pm. We waiting outside on their patio and took in the sights. I would highly recommend making this a must stop on your next trip to Petersburg

Absolutely loved this restaurant. Incredible cornbread and crab cakes. The best part was the service. Zach S was funny, kind, attentive, and someone that makes you want to go back just for the experience. 10/10 would recommend. We will definitely be back!

On Feb 15th my bday, I had lunch at Crocker's Spot. Our server was Tiny. From the moment she introduced herself until we left, she was Awesome. We loved her Amazing Personality, Mannerisms and Smile. We didn't have to ask for anything she was very attentive. I told her it was my bday, she left the table and returned with a bday card and a purple rose. How kind and thoughtful. She made my Birthday even more Special.

I can't even put into words how amazing this place is. The venue, food and service is top notch. Being black owned was the cherry on top. Highly recommend!!!

You can not go wrong with a meal from here. Everything is cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The drinks are expensive, but good. They use a system in which you sign in and they will text you when your table is ready. We had several severs walk past our table without acknowledging us. We even went to the hostess stand to ask who was our server. After patiently waiting our waitress stopped by and apologized. It’s a table two we’re sharing and each thought the other had us. Because she was apologetic, very friendly and helpful it didn’t change the great time that was had at dinner.
