The Hill House is a small but amazing little museum with an amazing team of guides that are very knowledgeable in regards to the history of the household and their impact in the Portsmouth and Greater Norfolk community. The house is very beautiful and is located in the heart of Historic Portsmouth. If you have the time I highly recommend a visit!

This house tour was impressive! I appreciated how many details were shared by my guides! Incredible value... I highly recommend visiting the Hill House. They aren't open every day, so be sure to check the schedule. I came over from Norfolk on the water taxi... It's an easy walk from there!

What a lovely historic museum with so many cool facts about the house, original furniture, clothing, and pictures of the family that resided there. Beautiful displays and grounds with very friendly knowledgeable staff!

One of four houses in the US that has all of its original things. Love it!

The tour was amazing!! The volunteers were very knowledgeable in the history of the family. The house had all original items the family owned. Nothing was bought to replicate anything. The house still looks like someone lived there, to include opening up a closed drawer (expecting it to be empty), only to find it filled with clothing for the week or stored linen. This is a must see of all the historical sites in Portsmouth. They will be open for the Ghost Walk this year to include a casket for one of the sisters I believe.

Very interesting history and a very well preserved home. The guide was most knowledgeable.

Closed: Would be awesome if the website indicated such. It was still nice to walk around Old Towne and see the other homes nearby. You should stop by and visit, but only if you don't mind viewing the house from the street. It looks like it might be a while before this museum opens again. Sadly, this was the case with the Naval Shipyard Museum as well.

Very cheap and the people giving tours were very kind and knowledgeable. Just remember its cash only but it goes to a great cause of keeping up a piece of american history.

A hidden gem! Absolutely must see. I doubt there is any other place so well-preserved and so authentic to the times. A unique experience. So glad we saw it.
