Portsmouth Colored Community Library Museum

Wow. Wow. Wow. So rich in history with a touch of knowledgeable staff. I brought my client here to enjoy this memorable experience. I enjoy this first black library in the City of Portsmouth or Norfolk County as they called it back then. Just know I will bring my 75-year-old mother to see all the artifacts from her era. PLEASE take your children, your Parents, your significant other, your neighbor, ANYONE who enjoys history, our history, strong black history. You have to see this beautiful little library, the restoration work is phenomenal.

A must see education center for local Black History. Practical exhibits and visual aids to encompass the past and present historical milestones achieved locally. All school children must visit and an excellent source of history for adults to embrace!

A small museum abundant in history and information. The museum administrator was very generous with his time and mini tour. The 15 minute film is a must watch.

The only negative was church members next door parked over top of the whole sidewalk making it impossible to use the sidewalk and hard for 2 of our disabled individuals to use the wheelchair ramp.

This museum had a lot of local Hampton Roads black history

Great history you would never learn from another source!!! Much local culturally sensitive history available to learn and be proud of.

Very interesting and enlightening to learn about some local black history.

Our history must be preserved.

Great historical place to visit

History buffs will,love this little gem. A reminder of timed not long ago. Love the way this is set up! Totally worth a visit!
