My Doberman was bitten twice by a copperhead one evening. I was a total mess when I took him to VCA DeKalb-Gwinnett Animal Emergency Hospital. The staff there was incredibly kind to both my dog and me. Everything was explained to me very clearly, and they were very patient with me when I asked a million questions! I thought the rates were reasonable, and they allowed me to bring my dog back for a second round of blood tests, free of charge. I was extremely satisfied with the care my dog received, and I am so thankful to have such a wonderful emergency vet close to my home.

The staff here is amazing!!! We had to rush our Shih-Tzu to the emergency hospital after being involved in an incident with our under the weather Pit Bull. They were very swift with taking him in and they also kept us informed on his condition while he was in the back. Kyna was especially helpful. She answered any questions that we had and she even let us see him before he went into surgery. She was compassionate towards us in our situation. I will never forget her. If ever you have to visit this location, look for Kyna she's the best!

We highly recommend this animal hospital to anyone in need of emergency treatment for their pet. We rushed Baxter, our one year old Goldendoodle, in this past weekend for an allergic reaction to his annual vaccines. This was the second time at this facility for him. The previous time he was in due to a gastrointestinal issue. Both times he was seen by Dr. Masterson. We were extremely pleased with the attention she gave him on both visits. Her approach to veterinary medicine gave us the confidence that Baxter was in the best of hands. Both times her diagnosis and treatments restored Baxter's health within a short period of time. Simply put, the level of care given to our boy far exceeded our expectations.
We found the rest of the staff was very helpful, friendly, and competent as well. Great job!

2 Weeks ago, my Shih-Tzu was involved in a tragic incident, in which he had to have emergency surgery to remove his right eye. We rushed him to VCA and they were able to take him in and prep him for surgery in a matter of minutes. The staff is EXCELLENT, very knowledgeable and friendly. In particular, the VA by the name of KYNA was terrific. It was a very sensitive situation for me and my family, and Kyna made it her business to make sure that all of our needs were met and comforted us the entire time. She answered all of our questions promptly and gave us the background on the situation and aftercare advice. I cannot speak more highly of Kyna. You can tell that she really loves what she does and she really loves and cares for animals. Due to her outstanding customer service as well as the rest of the staff's, we were able to have a pleasant experience through this difficult situation. I am grateful to say that our Shih Tzu is recovering well and we Highly Highly recommend this VCA clinic. Go see KYNA!!!!!!!

Last night our family dog of 8 years, very suddenl, collapsed. I took him into VCA and was a hysterical mess by the time we arrived. I was upset and very emotional but even despite my actions, the doctor and staff handled everything professionally and took care of my baby as best they could at that point. I would just like to thank the staff for their help, care, understanding and compassion when it came to my loss. We are still heartbroken but their words gave me comfort that my dog was in great hands. Thank you all very much...

Very pleasant brought Diego (chihuahua) here at 12 in the am they were very fast and informative gave him plenty of meds for pain and inflammation and even offered alternative for a lesser bill... Stuck with the more expensive option but the visit only cost me $350.

My fiance and I took our dog in on a sunday evening because she had a severe allergic reaction to what we think was the distemper vaccine. When we took her in she had a high fever of 105.7, lethargic, didnt want to eat or drink and all she wanted to do was sleep.

When we got there there were only a few other patients there and we were seen within a reasonable amount of time given the fact that we obviously did not have an appointment and it was an emergency room

We explained to the doctor what we though was wrong and her symptoms. Automatically they wanted to run all these test and diagnostics, keep her overnight and and charge us a ridiculous amount of money.

I explained that I did not feel she needed the whole work up. I felt she just needed some fluids and medication to bring down her fever.

They respected my decision, gave her some fluids and pain meds and sent us on our way. total cost $182

Im glad i went with my gut because by morning her fever lessened dramatically and she was getting a back to herself again,

This place was helpful and sufficient. my only advice is to go with your gut instincts and stand your ground to the treatment plan you want for your pet.

Having to put a pet down is never a good experience. That said, it was within the power of these people to make that experience better for me and for my pet, but they made it worse. My indoor/outdoor cat was accidentally poisoned by my neighbor and when she started having seizures, I went to the first place I could find on Google. First, it is extremely hard to find their parking lot if you don't know the area; I ended up jumping out of my friend's car at the second wrong parking lot we got to and running across embankments with my cat in my arms. A client of my workplace had the same experience. When I got inside, I had to almost yell at the receptionist that my cat was having seizures to get her to pay attention to me. The doctor on staff showed very little sympathy, which might be because she is hardened from working at an emergency vet clinic, but it wasn't very helpful to me, and I was in tears nearly the entire time I was there. I wanted to write this review not because of the attitudes of the staff, but so that you would know that if you have to put your pet down at this facility THEY WON'T LET YOU BE WITH YOUR PET DURING THE EUTHANASIA PROCEDURE. Or at least they wouldn't let me. They gave me a pretty BS reason for that, which I can't remember now. I was shocked. They brought my extremely sick cat into an examination room for me to say goodbye to her. It was heartbreaking. I chose to take her body home, and they delivered her back to me wrapped up and dead in her carrier. At this point the receptionist did show some sympathy and was very sweet to me. The only other good thing was that they obviously figured out how poor I am (yes, I know you shouldn't get pets if you're poor; I had my cat for six years and recently hit some hard times) and they didn't charge me a dime. Did that make up for not being able to be with my pet while she died? Not really. I would've paid the $152 just to be there.
