Bargain Book Shop

Hilarious to see all the reviews. I visited this place a few years ago while on vacation--always looking for a used paperback store. Not much I can add that hasn't been covered here. Difficult to find, in a double-wide trailer down an embankment off a narrow road with only a small sign to announce it. I coined it "The World's Most Dangerous Used Bookstore." A total firetrap. Floor-to-ceiling shelves with hardly enough room for me ( a slim guy) to negotiate sideways. Thousands of books, to be sure, but I found nothing particularly interesting except for some old wrestling magazines that, like everything else, were overpriced. There were some albums in the back, apparently (I didn't make it back that far through the maze). Bizarre paranoid handmade signs everywhere warning of surveillance (not a camera to be seen) and general damnation of the shoplifter's soul were the highlight. Highly recommended for a unique experience.

This was such a bizarre experience. I was comforted by the books surrounding me, but there was a small nagging in the back of my mind that something was off. It definitely seemed like a home for the paranormal. After a bit of exploring, me and my brother found a corner of the store that was walled off except for one opening. We walked into it and there were maybe three aisles completely dark, I had to use my phone to see. That was definitely the strangest thing. We left soon after, and have been talking about it ever since. Definitely one of my weirdest encounters, and I would love to visit again. The photo I posted would be completely dark except for the flash on my camera.

Got to visit Tuesday with my friend. Absolutely fell inlove with this little hole in the wall store. The lady isn’t as unwelcoming as people say. I think she’s just a little hard of hearing and tired of people being so rude and judgmental. Definitely coming back with a flash light to have a good dig through the vinyls hidden in the back! I also enjoyed the little news articles about her and her family placed along the isles

It's very cluttered, but in my wanderings, I've found some gems in the clutter. The owner knows where each subject is located. If you're not claustrophobic, I highly recommend this bookstore!

The most lovingly and endearing chaotic bookstore I've ever been in! Will definitely be back. Mary was wonderful and so interesting to talk with. I highly recommend reading her autobiography Moonshiner's Daughter

I think books are an amazing gift, and a great thing to have personally and I love a good old bookstore highly recommend!!!

absolutely astounding collection of books here. this isn't your typical "chic" bookstore peddling topical trash. This is a labyrinthian maze of books for the bonafide book lover. diligent searching will reward you with great finds, i.e. first editions of celebrated novels and so fourth. The occasional avalanche of perilously stacked books is a feature, not a bug. Best bookstore around--I've no idea why the other reviews are so mediocre.

Ms. Messer showed me around. She had as far as I know she had every author and lead you to them.She has thousands of books and is very friendly and helpful. It is crowed with books. Very good priced. I am an avid reader. I was pretty excited to get alot of my favorite authors.

Everyone must go to this store. Judith Messer owns this bookstore, and she is the local author of Moonshiners Daughter. She has copies there and will sign it for you. So many other books as well.

I found some really cool and rare books. Like others have said it is cramped and I was too fat to fit down some of the aisles but I'm not claustrophobic and it was kind of like an adventure.

Definitely make it a point to visit this one of a kind bookstore where the owner can help you find any book you are looking for. She went back.in her stacks and brought me the exact paperback I had been trying to find for months. Not available anywhere online and she had it!

Most books I've ever seen in one place! The owner is an author of a true story entitled the Moonshiners Daughter! Great book store!
