Sweet Onion

We had a great lunch. The food was awesome. We sat where we could see into the kitchen, which I usually don't like. I enjoyed watching the staff as I have never seen a staff work as cohesive. As soon as the order came in, everyone looked at it, went to their separate prep stations, and without any quarrel produced a great product. It was the most quiet kitchen I have ever watched. Seeing that quality of work is the obvious reason the food is so good. Food went out as fast as it was prepared. I had the open faced pot roast. If I was at home, I would have licked the plate. The server was very personable. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Was quite pleasantly surprised by the whole of Sweet Onion! It was very good. Our group had the Pimento Cheese and Fried Saltines as an appetizer — good pimento cheese. The open face pot roast was very savory and flavorful. The Chicken Salad BLT was very good! I’d recommend any of those items. Reasonably priced and attentive, friendly service! Definitely worth the stop!

We stopped at Sweet Onion while Passing by Waynesville, NC during lunch. The Atmosphere was very nice. There was no wait time at all. The cheddar biscuits were so yummy. The sweet onion soup was very nice. I had Shrimps and grits today special which was out of the world. It came with Brussels sprouts which were on the burnt side. Also tried Waynesville Soda Jerks with blueberries and Basil flavor. It was very good. Wish we had more time there to try other items on the menu. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful date night. We were able to walk right in with no wait, but there usually is a wait. Our server was very attentive and kept our drinks refilled. Our meals were delicious and we didn't have to wait too long for those to be cooked. We've also eaten lunch here and it's a great spot for that as well.

My salmon garden salad was delicious. The Onion soup was great and home made house dressing. We had an awesome bartender named Nicole. I wormed my way in because the guy at the front said they were done with waiting list and seating at 225 for lunch. He looked like he wanted to get the hell out of there and go home. I'm glad that the squeaky wheel gets the grease and if it wasn't for me saying let me find 2 seats at the bar, he would not have suggested it or let us in. I am persistent though glad I was. Parking is a pain in the butt.

Waitresses very friendly and accommodating.
The only change would be the owner walking back and forth helping clean tables with a perpetual scowl on his face.

Wonderful surprise in a cute little mountain town. Excellent service. Delicious food. Tasty drinks. Nice atmosphere. Try the local soda and the Cucumber Mule. Excellent French onion soup. Yummy Cheddar garlic biscuits to start the meal. Everything tastes so freshly made. There is on-street or free community parking a half block away. Average to slightly higher prices.

French onion soup is fabulous. The fried saltines with pimento cheese was delicious. The open face pot roast was also delicious minus the gobs of fat through it. The fat filled up a saucer dish. This is twice now I've ordered the roast beef and had this problem. Think I'll try a different dish when we come in April.

Service and food was on point. One of their specials didn’t come out right and they were awesome to replace it with something else. I can see why this place stays packed!

This was by far the best restraunt, food and service on our stay in maggie Valley this weekend. The crispy cajun Brussel sprouts were a great stater. The rainbow trout and mixed vegetables were excellent. I also have to mention the sweet tomato glazed meatloaf. All our food was awesome, service was equally as impressive.

We had the Pimiento Chicken Club and the Sweet Onion Chicken Parm. Both plates were HUGE and filled with absolutely delicious food. Great place and cool vibes for such a small town. Would highly recommend!

We went early on a Saturday (5pm) for dinner without reservations because they were full but would take walk-ins, it worked. Had a table for two with a window view. Loved the French Soup, fried catfish sandwich and lemon grilled shrimp pasta. Friendly staff from beginning to the end.

My wife and I had an exceptional meal here for our 18th wedding anniversary. The service, atmosphere, food presentation, food quality and food taste were beyond 5 stars. There will be a wait to get in so either come early or make reservations. The prices were a solid value as well. Great restaurant in a great little town!

Based on reviews, we decided to try Sweet Onion, and it did not disappoint. Both meals were delicious! The pimento Mac ‘N Cheese was amazing! Will definitely go back!

This was our best meal in Waynesville. And they have a small bar that makes great cocktails and martinis (which Google maps did not know.) The food was great, and the biscuit served with it was very tasty. Service was very good.

Great place for lunch! I had a delicious fried chicken sandwich–perfectly breaded, seasoned, and fried; slightly smokey pimento cheese, smooth consistency; lettuce on the sandwich but salad cut (I prefer whole pieces); wonderful veggies for my side, also great biscuits :) I recommend it if you're in Waynesville and looking for a nice bite

Wpnderful food and cocktails. The ginger blueberry beer tasted delicious. Probably the best onion soup I have ever had. Would definitely would eat here again. Also had the trout which was good. Hibiscus margarita was yummy. Highly recommend this restaurant.

We expected a down home kitchen, walked in and expected high prices. What we got was amazing food at a reasonable price. Staff knows their menu, kitchen is putting it down, atmosphere was great. Going again next time we visit.

We went for our anniversary dinner. The food and the drinks were amazing. I had the mushroom ravioli and loved it. It is getting harder to find it as an option. I have also had a hard time finding bartenders who truly know how to make a real old fashion, but this one was spot on.

After an overnight trip in Cherokee, we stopped here on the way home. We didn't expect it to be so busy in the middle of the week, but they were. We decided to sit at the bar and eat. My sister ordered the roast and said it was extremely tender and delicious. I ordered the crab cakes and they were some of the best ones I've ever eaten. The service was great as well. It was my sister's birthday and I was delighted the meals were so tasty and the bartender was friendly. We even met another patron at the bar that was also celebrating his birthday.
