This place is awesome 😎 💯 like awesome. Great food amazing atmosphere, sauces for every taste you have, huge menu, awesome staff, fast service. Amazing owner and staff making your food, awesome family atmosphere. I would go here everyday if I could, I mean and they do catering and take out. All they need now is a food truck to go everywhere. You planning a family gathering they got you covered, wedding covered, company gathering covered, funeral dinner covered, this place is awesome 👍👌👍👌👍😎💯 prices are awesome also

If I could give them 4.5 stars, I would.

The services was very good, and super friendly! The bbq meat was very good, and super tender! They had a good selection of sauces to choose from (it had it's own table!).

So, where do they lose 1/2 a star? The Mac and Cheese. I'm a HUGE fan of Mac and Cheese, and I normally order it everywhere I go, especially bbq places. However, after a bite or two of Honky Tonk Smokehouse's Mac and Cheese, I couldn't eat any more. Something was... off.

When one of the employees came to check on the food, I asked about the Mac and Cheese. They informed me that one of the "cheeses" in the 3 Cheese Mac and Cheese was.... COTTAGE CHEESE!!! Who puts cottage cheese in mac and cheese?!?!?!

I personally can't stand cottage cheese, and I've never been to a place that has it in their mac and cheese. That might be Honky Tonk's thing, and if so that is fine. Everyone has their own tastes, and places like to make things "their own". That's why I would have only taken away a 1/2 star. Since I can't, I'm still giving them the full 5 stars. Nothing was -wrong-, just unusual and not to MY taste.

I WOULD eat here again, but I wouldn't get the Mac and Cheese.

I love Honky Tonk Smokehouse! I had no idea the restaurant existed until I met the owner Sam at an extracurricular activity, and I have been hooked since! My go to is the 1/4 white chicken platter with green beans and coleslaw. You can also get the chicken pulled off the bone for a small additional charge. The coleslaw is creamy and delicious, and the green beans seem to have a dill seasoning to them and are very good as well. Honey chipotle sauce is the best and I am told all the sauces are gluten-free which is a plus. Texas toast is on point and the sweet tea is delicious too. The environment is very pleasant and is a nice place to enjoy a dinner with family or friends. Staff is friendly and checkout is easy. I enjoy the rewards program with the card where you get a punch every $10 you spend. Great incentive to keep coming back :)

This was the best take out we’ve had ever! The food is delicious, no fat in the shredded meat, quality ingredients and flavor to rival homemade meals at your grandmother’s house. And the banana pudding is to die for. This is now our favorite Bbq restaurant.

Excellent brisket, tender , moist and smoked very nicely. Collard greens were superb and corn fritter tasty.

We love to promote small family owned restaurants and this place is just darling! The food is great, the staff are so nice and recognized us after going twice, and they have a punch card that's a life saver. I highly recommend going if you want some quick comfort food.

Love this place! Had a 2x meat plate tonight. As always Brisket is Amazing. Smoked turkey was really good too. 1st time I sat inside instead of take out. Staff is attentive and really nice. Was talking to one of the owners Susan for a bit. Very warm and friendly environment.

To me,the experience was a cut above.. the portion was substantial... and frankly, I expected fast food quality... but to my pleasant surprise... I will definitely return ! Really good... the lady... (who was having a birthday like me) ...she treated us very nicely... my friend had the brisket and i had smoked turkey... i tasted his....very good but smoked turkey was delish also and healthy meal ! good experience overall

Delicious BBQ place with hush puppies, fried okra, fries, and so many delicious meats. Not too big but we've not had to wait to find a seat yet. Tried their wings for the first time today and they were good even without sauce! Haven't had their desserts yet to give a comment on those. Maybe next time we go?

We were very pleased with the takeout that we got from Honky Tonk six-weeks ago so today we decided to have a mid-afternoon meal at the restaurant. I had my heart set on some ribs but at 2PM, they had already sold out their first batch of the day so I ordered a pulled pork platter with collards and Brunswick Stew. My wife got the slider platter and chose brisket, pulled pork, and chicken with a side of barbecue slaw and a seasonal special of sweet potato casserole. You order and pay at a front counter, get your own drink and sit where you can find a table labeled ¨this table has been disinfected. When you sit down you flip the sign over and it says something like, ¨this table has not been disinfected.¨ We had not been sitting long when Lizzie, the hostess came over and said some ribs would be done before we left and asked if I wanted to take some home. I took her up on the offer. Our food was there very soon after that. They have multiple sauces and I chose honey chipotle. The barbecue was nicely moist but not too wet like some that I encountered here in the Piedmont. The collards had an excellent flavor and I give the Brunswick stew a thumbs up. I got a taste of the brisket my wife ordered and it was also excellent. One of the reasons I enjoyed my pulled pork was that it had some nice burnt ends which are often prized for their flavor enhancing quality..I also like the choice of sauces since I have had some not so great ones since leaving Eastern NC. The staff had their masks on, the food came quickly was reasonably priced. The servings were very generous and it was all delicious. I have eaten at almost all of the places on the NC Barbecue Trail and I would rather eat at Honky Tonk Smokehouse than most of them. I have also eaten at more than half a dozen highly recommend barbecue places within 50 miles of Winston-Salem in the last seven months. There are only a couple of those places that interest me enough to go back. I can guarantee that I will be regular at Honky Tonk Smokehouse. A special shout out to Ellie for making certain that I got to take home some of their ribs. Not many hostesses would make the extra effort for that.

A little gem! The enticing aroma as soon as you walk in the doors make you swoon. Helpful friendly staff. Great menu selection. Casual atmosphere. Very clean. You place your order at the counter then your food is brought to you.
Very reasonably priced with nice portions of food. Many sides to choose from.
I have been in search of good ribs since I relocated here . Found it! Fall off the bone deliciousness. I also had the six bean salad, very tasty and the buttery redskin taters too.
Everyone in my group was very satisfied and we all talked of returning.
I took some banana pudding home as a treat for my husband. It was a girls night out. He said it was delicious. The owner makes the puddings herself.
I highly recommend and would return most definitely. It will be my go to BBQ place.

Best BBQ hands down! I’ve had a lot of BBQ from all over the country. My favorite place is Jack’s in Nashville, TN. This is better. I had the beef brisket sandwich and got a pork and brisket platter Togo.

Easily the best BBQ place in Winston, possibly the whole Triad. The wings are outrageous - good size and smoked to perfection. Really good brisket, too. The brisket tacos are a gem - couldn’t recommend them more. We really like their collards and hush puppies for sides, and brisket chilli as a side is perfect for a cold day. Save yourself the trouble of cooking this Thanksgiving and order ahead for the holidays and pick up something everyone will enjoy. Finally the sauces - there’s something for everyone and they’re all really tasty - we shamelessly order 8 oz of the brown sugar and the original to get us through the week. I would include a photo but we ate everything already! Staff is super friendly and customer service is great - it’s the BBQ place where everyone knows your name. 5 stars!

Fast takeout the food was so good it put my husband to sleep. Lol I told him we can't come back anymore. Some of the best food I've had at a restaurant in my life. Greens are delicious best I'm Winston Salem NC

This review is for catering services. We love the restaurant and hired them to cater our 50th wedding anniversary. The food was great and the service went above and beyond expectations. We choose the banquet style with a few appetizers, drinks, and three meats with four sides. Susan and Sam were fantastic, kept the food hot/cold and replenished and did everything on time, within budget, and with smiles.

But beyond all that was the amazing expertise. Susan explained everything clearly when we met with her to plan, helped us make food choices and serving choices that were perfect for our style of party, and she did a lot of "handholding" with us during the weeks leading up to our party. We had not worked with a caterer before and she took the worry off our plates and put it on hers. Everything ran smoothly, all questions were answered, and we were freed to spend our time with our guests and enjoy the food. Thank you Sam and Susan. I can't recommend you highly enough!

Visited this place with my daughter on 2/10! The food was awesome, but the customer service and hospitality was amazing! We really enjoyed the ribs and selection of sauces! Next time we’re in WS, we’ll definitely stop here again!

They have great food here and the service is awesome too. I loved the smoked turkey sandwich with some of the sauces on it they offer it really makes its better. The sweet potato casserole was very good as well. I love supporting local.

This place is a gem. I had no idea it was here nor that they had been in business for years before I visited!

I got the pulled pork sandwich and it was as good as I hoped. The sweet sauce on the side was a great addition. We also ordered cheese curds, smoked wings (holy cow that's a lot of meat and flavor in a wing!), creamed corn, and a couple platters. Our whole group was thoroughly impressed all the way around!

We will have to visit this place more often from now on!

Delicious food. The beans are awesome. The brisket and pulled pork was phenomenal. Friendly staff, reasonable prices. Would come back if in the area.

This is my favorite BBQ place in Winston Salem. Everything is delicious. They have a lot of different sauces for every style, but their flavor is so good you don't need it.
