Fried Green Tomatoes

I can't say enough good things about Fried Green Tomatoes. The service was great from the bartender to the host/hostess to the waitress and busses. They made the experience so pleasurable for my mother's birthday.

They have a great selection of bourbon/whiskey. Had a fantastic EH Taylor Old Fashion. Had a pork rib-eye, which I had never heard of. It was fantastic and really tender.

I will go back without a doubt during my next visit to Galena.

Stopped in last night, 1/22/24 for dinner. We have lived in Dubuque for over 6 years and had not yet given it a try.

From the moment we walked in all the staff was friendly. Our server, I believe his name started with a R. He was great, very knowledgeable and service was on point

We each got a cocktail and they were just ok at best. I had some bourbon, lemonceilo drink, too much lemon and not balanced. The wife got an aprol spritz and was just ok.

We got an app to share and 2 main dishes. The food was on point. Just the portion size and flavors were fantastic.

Overall loved, if you are a cocktail person, maybe stick to wine.

But we will be back.

Best Italian food in Galena!

The lasagne was large enough to share. Plus, the sauce and noodles were delicious.

The salad had a raspberry vinaigrette and pickled peppers; unique and wonderful.

The atmosphere was grand, but relaxed. It felt fancy, but you’re not out of place in a sweatshirt.

Service here is top notch excellent. They definitely make you feel like they appreciate your business.

Our bartender Will was very friendly and made us a couple drinks while we waited for our table.

We started with the mussels appetizer in white wine sauce and chorizo, it was good but lacked flavor. Maybe needed more butter, salt or wine? We were wanting to start with something lighter so the mussels were worth while.

Entrees were Sea Scallops over Risotto and Espresso crusted filet over potatoes with a reduction sauce. Both were excellent and prepared perfectly.

Tiramisu dessert is made in house and very good, the middle was slightly frozen but the rest was perfect.

Our server Hanna was excellent, good suggestions and attentive. We will definitely come back here everytime we are in Galena, it was a fantastic dinner experience.

I ate here for the first time during my bachelorette party weekend. It was AMAZING! They have a great selection of drinks, appetizers, entrees and desserts. Many of us tried the fried green tomatoes and they were tasty. I got the scallop risotto as my entree and it was delicious. We got to have our own little private dining room area which added to our ambiance.

The desserts also sounded fabulous, but we were so stuffed! The next time I'm back I will make sure to leave room :)

I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone stopping in the area!

We hit this spot with a table of 10 of us and everything was truly delicious. The service was great and friendly, the drinks were delicious and the food was excellent. I had the veal Parmesan which was tender and perfectly cheesy. The bread that came with dinner was incredible - I only wish we would have each gotten our own loaf! Such a thin, crisp crust and a light and fluffy interior. I was in love. Absolutely recommend!

Wonderful dining experience! Went for a girls trip and had dinner here one night. Excellent drinks, our waiter had some great recommendations, and the food was FANTASTIC. None of us were disappointed in what we ordered!

5 star all the way! To make it short and sweet:

1. Our server, Will... excellent. I would recommend literally asking for him!

2. Mary - Floor Manager extraordinaire! Hard working, on point and SOOOOO friendly!

3. The Food - excellently prepared, perfectly cooked, perfect temp, wonderful presentation and a 5/5 on taste 👌🏽🙌🏽

4. We had our original booking @ 7pm and we showed up early to check our Galena. They accommodated us fairly immediately and the staff and service was on par with the finest restaurants we've ever been to, this one being a CLASSIC!

5. The Drinks - also with a wide selection, we challenged our server Will to make us a rare "Chocolate Cake" shot (for my birthday) and just like any GREAT restarting, they looked it up, got the shots done and it was excellent.

...so in the end not only are we going back to this place, we think the staff and the restaurant for such an excellent evening!

Food, service and atmosphere was awesome. The special of half lobster tail, 6 shrimp and pasta was wonderful. The wife had cedar plank walleye and asparagus was delicious. Creme brulee and my French silk ice cream was wonderful. Our waiter was busy (group of 8 splitting checks) so the maitre d' came over to took our drinks.

Absolutely amazing! I love coming here whenever I’m in town. I’m sad to say that I didn’t not get a picture of the weekend feature - New York Strip. The strip was probably the best I’ve ever had. The walleye was amazing, it’s been a while since we’ve been able to find a place that has great fish options. Service was great as always and recommend anyone in the area to stop by!

Went for a date night, service was incredible, food was amazing, my date got the steak filet, which he loved, said it was very tender, and it was so good he didn't even have time to savor it from eating it so quickly! I got the special of the night which was a herb crusted red snapper with Brussels sprouts. Excellent! Highly recommend. Cooked perfectly! The sweet pea pancetta risotto is incredibly rich and full.of flavor, cooked well. Didn't come across one hard piece of rice. Bread is always good. Would definitely recommend this place for a date night or special occasion. Food and service is never a disappointment. Plan on spending a good amount but well worth it in my opinion!

Honestly one of the best restaurants we tried in Galena. Our waiter was wonderful I wish I could remember his name! If you served a couple of couples celebrating their anniversaries, thank you!

The lasagna, the Steak martini, all the dishes we had were delicious and flavorful. The only dish we did not enjoy was the crab cakes; too much breading. The dessert… phenomenal. The cheesecake was amazing we are still craving more! Overall the experience was great. I would definitely recommend. And will definitely go back!

On a very busy evening, we were promptly seated without reservation. Staff was great, present, and made good recommendations. The Bourbon sauce is made in house and it was to die for. The flavors were well thought out, fresh bread was great without over filling, and the salad even had a flavor notes to brag about! It was well worth the expense.

My family of 4 were walk-in customers and weren’t exactly dressed for the restaurant. We were headed for Chicago & decided to stay overnight in Galena last minute. The host and staff couldn’t have been nicer! The food was great and the service was better. Hoping to get back to Galena sooner than later and will definitely eat here again!

Friendly staff - Best fried green tomatoes obvi :) I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a ton of em - nice wine list, we sat in the bar at a high top was busy but that’s because the food is good. We had a ribeye and cauliflower steak. He’s the ying to my yang. Their speciality is Italian - our food was good but think going having pasta here would have been better. Super cute place.

Very nice bar and some really nice martinis and cocktails. Cool upscale vibe. I regretted getting the meatloaf as it was oddly sweet. Everyone else loved their entrees. The service was a bit slow and took a while to get drinks. Considering the prices expectations were high so that was disappointing. 4 entrees with 2 drinks each and 2 appetizers & 20% tip was $350.

Service was outstanding! The food was incredible. I can see why people hype this place up. We started with the fried green tomatoes of course. Wow! So soooo good. The bread was the best i've had at a restaurant that I can remember. I ordered the Sea Bass and my husband got the Espresso Steak. We were both completely satisfied. We made reservations to go back the next day!

My wife and I had a really wonderful meal here. The wait staff was numerous and highly helpful making sure you had everything you needed. All of the food we had looked, smelled and tasted delicious. The sauces with our pesto dish and seafood pasta were both well crafted and filled with flavor. Very pleased with this restaurant and will be back next time in Galena.

Beautiful inside, food was amazing, service was incredible!!! My husband had the porterhouse and I had a filet - The best thing I can say is that I will be driving 1 1/2 hours just to come back for dinner. Definitely worth the drive! Ask the bartender to create a tropical drink of her choosing... ☺

Great food, service and atmosphere. We started with fried green tomatoes covered in mozzarella and on a bed of marinara sauce. They were very good, and the 1st time I've had them. My entree was filet mignon with shrimp and it was cooked to perfection and delicious. My wife had a seafood pasta dish with lobster and shrimp, she loved it. The bread and olive oil was very good too. Fried Green Tomatoes will be a repeat when we visit Galena again!
