Dinner that night was a perfect 8oz med rare sirloin steak, shrimp ravioli the next night. I will be dreaming about that steak

Beautiful hotel right on Main Street - couldn’t be better for a location. Parking garage is attached. You can walk out front door and shop along Main Street or walk the River Walk, go to dinner, etc.

Tried 2 of 3 eating options within the hotel - both great. Would definitely return to this hotel if we are in the area again. Staff was very polite and friendly.

Beautiful, historical hotel right in the center of Main St. The rooms were spacious and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. A word of warning regarding the parking ramp- the entrance to the ramp is quite narrow as are the entrances to the ramps inside. We literally held our breath as we slowly inched our way up the curving ramps to the 3rd level of parking. If another car were to be coming down while we were going up, someone would have had to reverse down this nightmare as there is barely enough room for one car. Exiting the ramp, however, was a breeze.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel! Every member of the staff we met was friendly and patient. The room was so cute, and the apple French toast on the breakfast menu is a five star experience all to itself. The free parking was easy to navigate and had an interior walkway connected to the hotel. It's located smack in the middle of downtown so everything you could ask for is close by. I just left yesterday and I'm already getting a group of friends together to come back in a few months!

I have been staying at the Desoto House Hotel for the past 20 years. The hotel has a historic charm to it that really adds to the Galena experience. One thing I must note is that year after year we recognize the same employees, that indicates that The Desoto House Hotel is a lovely place to work as well lodge.

I am already looking forward to my next "Mother/Daughter girls trip" next October!

PS - Andrew, the bartender in the Green Street Tavern is a gem - You are lucky to have such a fun, enjoyable and hardworking employee.

Excellent location within walking distance to downtown attractions. Our room was on the 3rd floor. Very spacious room, beds were comfortable, room was clean, staff was courteous. I would stay here again for sure.

We didn't stay there, but we ate at the General and breakfast there. We have already made our reservations for 2024. I can imagine how nice the rooms are. Your staff is so friendly and helpful.

This hotel is old but it was beautiful. Our room was simple but comfortable. Everything was clean & in working order. Check in was seamless & welcoming. Shelby on front desk at night was awesome as we had a couple key issues. Could it have been a spirit having fun w/us, maybe. I loved the parking garage & restaurants. We ate breakfast in the Courtyard & prices were reasonable. I would stay here again no problem.

Very friendly staff. Private parking garage available. Historic hotel. Prepare for it. Definitely recommend the breakfast package. Restaurants and bar are exceptional.

Best location on main street. Breakfast is always excellent. The parking ramp is convenient but a bit cramped. Great history, great location, great food.

This hotel is a Galena gem. It has such character and the fact that it houses 3 restaurants is absolutely convenient. No matter which restaurant you dine at, the food is great. You cannot ask for a better location@

The Desoto along with the Haunted Galena Tour Company presented "Murder and Mayhem in a Mining Town" Dinner Theatre this past Friday. Excellent meal and a fabulous show. Watch for it every October.

The DeSoto is a beautiful, historic hotel in the heart of downtown Galena. There are 3 restaurants in the hotel and 2 bars that I know of. It is worth signing up for the DeSoto Newsletter to be informed of stay and dining specials as well as other stay and experience specials (the newsletter does an excellent job of announcing upcoming events in the Galena and nearby areas).

The hotel is perfect, and the location is very ideal for just leaving your car parked in the garage and walking almost anywhere you could possibly want in town. But when I say I booked my next stay already because of the staff.... Literally the best people work here!!! I felt like everyone was so unbelievably friendly and accommodating, and I already can't wait to stay again. The restaurants in the hotel are great too. Thank you to literally everyone for feeling like extended family while I stayed at DeSoto. Till next time!!

We didn't stay but had lunch, it was very good, the food was good the staff was very polite and the prices were reasonable. We'll go back. Next time perhaps to stay in one of their rooms for a weekend.

Being our first time visiting Galena, Desoto House was highly recommended. This hotel is in the heart of the downtown area and makes shopping and eating very convenient. They have attached parking, which was also a perk. John at the front desk was super friendly & helpful. He pointed out some “must visits” for us which made our stay that much more enjoyable. The rooms were up to date and very neat as they were named. We stayed on 3rd floor with room facing the inside courtyard. Rooms had some character and not like your typical hotel. Anytime we visit Galena in the future we will definitely stay at this hotel. Also, like the nostalgia of having a hotel key versus a swipe card. A big Thanks to John for the superior Customer Service.

We did not stay in the rooms but the food was amazing, reasonably priced, and service was wonderful!

This is our 'go to' place to stay when in Galena. We love the ambience, the rooms, the restaurants (especially The Generals), and it's location. One doesn't have to deal with parking; park in their garage and forget it. Other good restaurants are nearby within easy walking distance. We have stayed here during the many times we have done our Galena getaway.

Very quaint hotel in the heart of the shopping area. Staff was really friendly, got tokens for free drinks at checkin. Bartender was really friendly and nice, made great drinks. Rooms were really quiet. Not really big rooms but we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

We ate at the resturaunt, great service and delicious food.
