Our tour guide was awesome, very informative, was a nice step back in time. So glad Galena appreciates it's history and preserves it so well, and teaches the generations of now the glorious history of then. Thank you for having us and educating us on your rich history! All of Galena was a pleasant experience, Grant House was our favorite stop of all. Check it out and see for yourself! You won't regret it, just kind the back stairs of the Grant House, I feel for whoever had to frequent those stairs they're a dandy.

I had an absolutely awesome time here the other day while there was all the snow blowing in. The tour guide was beyond informative and had just the amount of dry historian humor I always look for and can appreciate. It was a pleasure being able to tour the Grant home, and I recommend it to anyone visiting Galena to stop by and look at everything in the house. I especially loved being able to see it all decked out for Christmas.

Great stop in historical Galena. The tour is free, but they have a donation box for facility upkeep. The tour guides are incredibly knowledgeable and work on a volunteer basis. The tour takes 30 minutes and it is well worth the stop!

Excellent stop while in Galena. The history told by the tour guides is great and only takes about 15 minutes. Our kids loved it too seeing all the antique furniture and way houses were furnished back then. Grant was a fascinating person and anyone who likes history should make this a stop. Runs completely on donations.

Spur of the moment stop ended up being in my top three favorite things we did! Our tour guide Chuck was phenomenal, and answered my many questions, and made history feel fun and tangible.

A very interesting historical stop. The Grant Home grounds have several buildings to see, including a general store that you can peek inside. The Grant Home has a beautiful view. Our tour guide was very kind and knowledgeable and patient with questions from children. He shared so much information. The house is fascinating. The grounds are clean and in good repair.

To be honest, I didn't know much about President Grant, but this home was so nice and the tour guide was amazing. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone coming to the town.

As someone with such an appreciation for history I can say for certain that this did not dissapoint. The home on the inside has been kept in pristine condition. The tour guide only allowed in around 10 people at a time, which made it possible for everyone to be able to see. Not to forget to add on she was extremely knowledgeable about everything in the home. The best part of it all? It was free! Donations, of course, are always recommended.

Our guide was an amazing story teller! Absolutely love how he shared the life and times of Pres Grant and Mrs Grant woven with humor. We loved every minute. Tour is not accessible with strap steps. If you can climb steps, you can take your time. Entry is by donation. Highly recommend!

The pride and joy of Galena, Illinois! This location is definitely worth a visit. I’d recommend taking the tour of the home. The tour takes you around the inside of the entire house and you can see important items/rooms of the ex-president. The tour guides are incredible at their job and invite curiosity. The tour is free, but they do expect a donation. You can wait at the front door and up to 15 minutes for the tour to start. Afterwards, you can walk around the grounds and see other artifacts and buildings.

The tour is free but donations are recommended. Tours run about every 10 to 15 mins. You wait on the porch for a guide to get you. You can take all the photos you want. About 90 percent of the items in the home are original to the Grant family. Plenty of parking.

When you are done here head downtown to see an amazing Main street that looks like a movie set from the old days and then head to the Grant/Galena museum. There is a charge as it is separate from the Grant home but very much worth visiting.

If you're a history buff. This is a must see. There's a lot of great history here. All of the tour guides are great. You can tell that they're really passionate about the history of this home. It's just a really nice place to visit. Make sure to bring cash, because they have some cool things you can purchase.

Great history this house is in the middle of a neighborhood that you would never expect that a US president lived there. Guide was very knowledgeable and learned a great deal. Need less than 30 minutes to see the entire thing. Great way to stretch your legs out on a ling trip. You don't need to buy a ticket but a $5 donation is suggested money goes towards the up keep.

A very well-maintained home, not unlike the Ronald Reagan home in Dixon. Tours usually go for around 15 minutes and staff is quite knowledgeable. Take lots of photos, there's alot of history here!

We had a wonderful experience here. Our guide, Keith, was wonderful!

He was very kind and extremely knowledgeable. His tour was very informative and he was excellent at answering everyones questions.

The home was furnished with 90% of the original furnishings and was well kept. Your able to tour both stories. That said you'll need to be able to go up and down stairs and they are a bit steep.

The admission is a suggested donation of $5.00 per person. It's well worth the price!

Awesome and amazing if you like history!
90% original everything. Keith, our guide was extremely knowledgeable and interesting...he was able to answer all our questions.
If you have bad knees or hips, drive to the parking lot up-top.

We were late getting there and missed all the tours. But this place is well kept and so much scenery to look at around the house. There is a road that is a little walk from the house that has all kinds of food and shopping. Great day date place, I am ready to go back so I can go inside this place.
