Mallard Lake Forest Preserve

Wow such a beautiful park! Nice walking trails around the lake. It’s absolutely beautiful in the evening with the sunset. Lots of wildlife including birds, turtles, etc…nice getaway from the city life. Lots of parking. Great place to hike and bike. There is a dock for fishing too. Trails are well maintained.

Such a nice park with ample place to walk among the wild flower fields and to enjoy some fishing. We caught and released plenty of blue gills and sun fish. We've also had a wonderful time watching barn swallows and listening to various wild birds - it was a really pleasant trip!

A beautiful park and forest preserve with very nice paths for walking / running / biking. They have port-o-potties for use and some covered seating areas. They have benches in the area as well. It's a popular spot for anglers, and I would definitely recommend a visit.

Absolutely beautiful scenery no matter where you walk. Very clean lots places to seat under the tree. One big shade which was taken when we got there. Pathways are clean and wide for walk hike or biking. No restrooms but there were couple of portable toilet box but right outside the park lots of grocery places can be used for restrooms. Very quite and close to the nature. Absolutely loved it! Also lots of spots for fishing throughout the park.

Mallard Lake is a great preserve - there's fishing, hiking, you can bike the trail. Don't follow the spur trail on the AllTrails app - it leads you past a school and then dead ends even though it looks like it loops. The main loop on Mallard Lake is great, the spur off the parking lot is interesting, and the trail connector for the bike path is also really nice.

Favorite forest preserve in the area due to the massive lake. Great for taking a walk around or just relaxing on the grass a bit.

I will say, people need to be mindful and not walk directly behind others when in such a massive area.

I know you're in public, but still keep in mind everyone generally wants to be by themselves and not within 3 inches of some random person who doesn't understand the concept of personal space even in an outdoor setting.

Very beautiful scenery and nice trails. Very clean but be careful with your furry babies. Some dumb guy couldn't handle his huge 150lb dog (bad owner) and his dog got loose from his tiny leash and came after my 17.lb mini schnauzer. I got in between, but my dog could have gotta badly hurt. Dumb irresponsible dog owners shouldn't be allowed out in open areas like this. What if it was a human child that vicious dog attacked... Be very careful and alert. If you have a huge vicious dog put a muzzle on it and buy a better leash, not a tiny one for a 20lb dog.

Beautiful, serene lake!!! There's ample parking, doesn't get too crowded, so you can walk/jog/run in peace around the lake, relax, and enjoy beautiful nature.

Absolutely beautiful lake park to come and walk at. My wife and I really enjoyed coming here to walk and also see the sunset together. Was able to get some great pictures of the lake and scenery. Definitely worth coming to!

Oye I wish I didn't live so far. I was in the area for a few months for Dr appts and I always tried to arrive early so I could enjoy these trails and views. Sometimes I would just roll around the grass.

If you are looking for a serene lake with great bird watching, biking, hiking, fishing ops, you got a winner. You can be in and out of the place in an hour if you are looking for a quick weekend evening rendezvous with nature. It is so close to O’Hare airport that you will see dozens of planes any day.
Bonus: You can try out one of many Hanover Park's restaurants post this nature visit. We go for NeeHee's Indian Vegetarian Street Food as a routine after a visit to Mallard Lake.

Love coming here with my puppies. You can walk around the trails or ride a bike. Or even have a picking on the grass. They do have a few benches and tables here and there. Nice place

Large parking lot w/picnic area & port-o-toilets. Has a nice, quiet, leisurely gravel covered path around lake w/canoe launch area only. No swimming.

An high pressure over-fished lake, with lots of big bass hiding all over. It would be better to have a boat or kayak. Steep drop offs all over the lake, so the bass love the depth transition. Lots of weeds, so you have to pick a good spot. Maybe circle the lake looking for where the wind has blown them away. You'd probably slay bass with a kayak here. Lots of bluegill, but they're hidden because of all the predator fish in the lake. It's hard to find a quiet shore fishing spot because they're so many people walking the trails.

It is a beautiful place to go for a quick walk. You can do fishing in the lake. Sunsets are most beautiful.

This is a magnificent forest park with beautiful nature trails and bridges around a sparkling blue lake. Family friendly, dog friendly. Hurry up and go before all the leaves fall!

Easy-to-access trail that loops around a lake and has a short wooded section in the north. Picturesque lake views and nice picnic facilities.
