Lake Park

In 1893 Kalamazoo’s horse-drawn street railway system was converted to electric power. Looking to expand evening and weekend trade, the Citizens Street Railway Company extended its Asylum Avenue line two-and-one-half miles to the southwest along the old Asylum road (now Oakland Drive) and established a leisure resort on the shores of Woods Lake.
Oakwood Park with Amusement Park (along Crest, Parkview), Casino (along Oakland) and 'streetcar tracks in front of the park entrance were briefly exposed during recent road work on Parkview Avenue' (at Oakwood). Closed 1925 'following a disastrous 1924 balloon exhibition which resulted in the death of the feature performer'.

Beautiful park, remnant of times ago when a theater and Oakwood Park graced the grounds.

Nice open field for me and my gf to sit and eat lunch.... The view is very nice even though its literally nothing but grass although their is a nice jungle gym for kids, a basketball court and and cool place to maybe ride a skateboard or scooter, maybe teach a kid to ride a bike.

Nice place to go when you just want to get out but You're not sure what you wanna do

A nice place to relax and enjoy! No motor boats means few waves. Great for kayaks and paddleboards!

Not a bad place I grew up here and it's not like it used to be though, but nothing is.

It's really small however there is a lot of wildlife there okay place to fish.

I wouldn’t really consider this a park. It seems someone really wants a park in this town. There are multiple “parks” that are really nothing in this town. Cute town but not a park.
